I'm a huge fan of this guys' work. Wolf Children, Summer Wars and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time are all in my top 10 favourite Anime films. The Boy and the Beast was great too. I can't wait to see what he does next!
I was introduced to Belle and discovered Mamoru Hosoda from there bc I chose Belle for my final project for costume design class to create renderings for 8 characters so I'm doing research for that, but I'm inspired to look into the creator himself and his works/style and journey. I've never been familiar with anime films, I always watched anime series, and rarely have seen films nor know of the creators/directors much, but now I want to know the behind the scenes of it all and the progression of his creations as well as others
This guy and Hayao Miyazaki are the 2 best Animation Directors right now They make masterpieces of film I love there movies so mush even though I have not seen the new one yet the boy and the beast I can't wait to get it and watch it on Blu- ray :)
I really love your works Hosoda-sensei. I mostly watched anime movies than anime series, and your Bakemono no Ko and Wolf Children enter my top 10 favorite anime movies. Your works are like delicious food--you'll feel disappointed when you have finished the food, without any second-serving or dessert.
+red comn I really like Wolf Children and Bakemono no Ko. They have interesting similarities, about children who raised by someone whom completely different from them. In the end, it's up to them to choose their way, and the adult support their choices. For me, it's interesting how he portray how human inherit something to their children. Especially for Wolf Children, I need some time to get over it. It gave me some impact after watching it. 😅 And besides I like his type of fantasy (or supernatural?) movie. It's easy to follow, but still holds meanings on it. 😄
+Deathbox Wow so you expect all great animators came from great animation studios? -_- Just because he went to some studio you don't even like doesn't mean he loses that position of being great.
Well, when he was working it it was the third best studio out there, just behind Ghibli and Gainax, and not only did Miyazaki start in Toei, but also Isao Takahata
