- Hi everyone. This is my entry into Markus and Joachim annual Group Build. This year they have chosen Wheeled Vehicles in Military Use. My project will be the conversion of Airfix's 1/35 scale Austin K2 into the K2 used in the iconic film Ice Cold In Alex. In this video we look at all the issues with the chassis.

Great work. Just wish Airfix or somebody would release a conversion kit !
Love your eye for research.
Hi CT. I hope all is well. The research part of all my builds is one that I enjoy the most. It has been rather involved on this build but it has been worth it. Many thanks for stopping by and commenting. Take care my friend and have a great weekend
Once again, amazing detail, it really lifts the model.
Hi Steven. Great to hear from you again. Lots more to come so stay tuned
Truck chassis is looking good Steve. Its coming together nicely.
Cheers David. Not used to doing chassis as tracked vehicles are my thing but this one turned out okay. Many thanks for stopping by and commenting. Take care my friend and speak soon

Nice Steve. Hope your all well .
Hello mate. Apart from being bloody cold all is good. Keep thinking about retirement but still have another 10 years to go. Hopefully you and the family had a great Christmas. I will email you soon to have catch up. Take care my friend and speak soon
Fine work Steve. Not many stills from the film to work with but enough for you to see what's needed. Chassis and drive train look great as does the improved fuel tank. Good luck with the rest of the build.
Hi Jim. I have actually photographed all the relevant areas from the TV LOL. Just don't tell anyone. My favourite pictures are the behind the scene shots from the film which are at the end of each video. For me this is the worst part of the build over and everything is going well at the moment. The problem is I keep seeing detail I want to change or add and I will never get to the end of the build LOL. Any how I really appreciate you stopping by and commenting. Take care my friend and have a great weekend
Nice work there Steve. Looking forward to the next episode. Cheers Bob 👍
Hi Bob. Its bloody cold! Hope you have your heater on in the shed. Cricket should be starting soon against India??? Any how, many thanks for stopping by. Take care my friend and speak soon

Hi Steve, You are doing a great job on your KATY. I've seen the movie several times. I knew they used both a 2x4 and a 4x4 in the filming. I never knew just how they did it though. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff

@@SteveJonesScaleModellingSite wingy model ? Would that be the B-17 ? If so then I sure did. A few very nervy moments a lot out of my comfort zone.
Top work Steve you need to convert a 101 landrover to a judge dredd car next . Regards Gav.
Hello Gav. As soon as I saw your comment I Googled it and that's a beast of a machine! I bet someone must have done that conversion somewhere. Looks awesome!! Take care my friend and thanks for the comments. Speak soon my friend
Not a judge dredd fan but i remember when i was into landrovers they were saying all sorts about them no cgi there . I drove a couple once or twice in the army . Regards Gav.
When my daughter was in the RAF she had a lot of fun driving around the Falklands in one. Always fancied doing Vera's landrover off the tellyLOL
Lots of work Steve! Good to see such good references on background!
