      Grubby is so wholesome dude. I wish I had his mentality. Him leaving Dota 2 just proves that I did the right thing all those years ago because I don't have 1/2 the mental resilience he does and he still got ground down by the toxicity. If I could be as chill & confident as he is I would be much better at fighting games too.

    • @TheFiveStarMan
      @TheFiveStarMan หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I particularly liked how he was real with him throughout the whole process, and didn't try too hard to tell him he's doing well in a patronizing way. He told him where he did well, and was uncompromising in telling him bluntly where he messed up. Even though we knew he was trying to change his mind and get his mental right, he still kept it real with him.

  • @MSsix6
    @MSsix6 หลายเดือนก่อน +24

    I gotta say it was very impressive of him. He didn't just insult and take the easy way out by leaving. He stuck by in his raging moment and took you up on the challange and joined another game, where as he could have just ignored. I assume he was still irritated, but was still polite with the "u2". Rising above the emotions. Then when his anger seemingly droped and towards the end, he took advice and had a laugh.
    And you gave him that chanse. Enabled him to learn and hopefully change his negative outlook.
    It goes to show that everyone can have a shitty day, but given a chanse and taking that oppertunity, things can take a different course.
    To me, it was a great interaction. Very likeable. Good job to bouth of you!

  • @CC_Seig
    @CC_Seig หลายเดือนก่อน +51

    That was pretty wholesome. Big props to to K1nk (Grubbys Opponent) aswell.
    I think we´ve all been in that situation at least once in our gaming sessions in which we just saw red and were just tilted. There are opponents that just keep on insulting and it can turn in an ugly mud fight between 2 or more players rather quickly. Really nice to see that he chose to have another game with Grubby and actually try to learn something.
    Not everybody can do that in a PvP scenario and it kinda takes a leap to overcome the tilted ego of oneself to actually take some advice.
    In the meanwhile i hope, that he improved his mental game vs human :D

    That's maturity right there and it's achieved through time, experience and reflection - always a pleasure to witness. Having the empathy to recognize emotion, then the ability to separate the individual from the emotion. This is not a toxic person. It's a person, acting toxic - the difference in perception is where maturity resides, as you can handle their emotion in a productive way, neutralizing it by not exchanging fire, after which - you help them see the illusion they've mistaken as reality. That was awesome Grubby!! : ) : ) : ) Also, your AoW creeping is improving for a player who couldn't even get to rank 1 bnet as elf ; p

    The best way to counter something you think is imbalanced is by playing it yourself and learning whether it's really imba or if it's just a skill issue. Regardless of the outcome you'd atleast be able to learn that strategy's weakness and counters...unless you inherently hate playing that thing you consider imbalanced. In which case, tough luck.

    True gamer moment from Sifu Grubby himself. Have fun, win. Teach the next game, still win.

    I really appreciate that despite the guy's rudeness, you still addressed their issues in rather well meaning manner.
    After all, the frustrations of the "impossible matchup/playstyle that I just cannot win against" is something that everyone who has ever played a competitive game is familiar with.
    But in truth, it's really all about practice and mindsets. Because sure, sometimes, your opponents will utilize a strategy or playstyle that will give them an unfair advantage (perhaps turning the win chances from a 50%/50%, to something like, a 47%/53% in their favor), but the game isn't happening between two AIs that both play perfectly. You're still fighting a human being, a human being that will occasionally mess up, and those mess-ups can be utilized to even out the odds, potentially even turning them around.
    Not to mention, in the majority of cases, even seemingly broken strats have their fair share of exploitable weaknesses, and it's up to you to study them, to find out what they are.
    This is very much coming from personal experience, from few years ago, when I used to spam an older version of Aurelion Sol in ranked League games, and got hit with a long lasting Kassadin meta.
    Kassadin was one of the best counters to my character, and a lot of them did manage to beat me. But as time went on, I started winning more and more into them, by analyzing and learning the matchup, and not allowing a myself to get a mental block from the idea that "by default, he has a higher chance to win".
    Due to the nature of competitive games, this is not something that will always work, but the results will show eventually. These journeys require patience, but it will always feel awesome when it pays off, and you manage to win games that would have seemed completely impossible before.
