      There are a lot of younger people who believe old people shouldn't vote, just as there are older people who think people below 25 shouldn't vote. Most of the latter are Republicans, as far as I have seen online.

      🐂💩 it's up to the electorate anyway. I'm 70 and I've got a younger outlook than many less than half my age. You also ignore the experience and knowledge older people have.

      They absolutely shouldnt be discriminated against for being old. They are a member of society therefore should be able to participate in electing and of course also being elected. The issue of 85 y.o. politicians losing their mental facilities to be observed in real time and still being elected again, is very much a symptom of the other problems in the political infrastructure (winning elections because of rich donors, name recognition over policy, party affiliation etc.)

    • @89rwiley

      I agree with you! Even those who was in prison and done their time!
      The key part is “done their time”. If they are done with their probation, or completed their sentence than their right to vote should be granted to them automatically! There are still citizens of United States! What the governments do still effect them too! I work at a prison and most of the inmates where I work are republicans! I can see them watching Fox News when I am doing my rounds in the wings. I may not be a republican but it crazy that the republicans in FL and Tx are denying them to vote. Once they pay their debts to society, I believe they should have rights to vote!

      They have become aware that Gen z and many millennials overwhelmingly vote Democrat and pretty much despise their party and values. So now we are are seeing conservative news and programs speaking of a ban on younger voters, raising tje voting age, and gerrymandering against the way college students vote. There's talk about appealing to the younger generations but this is probably a losing battle for them.

  • @ladavis1959

  • @jstnxprsn

    That's good to hear, esp. since there are many older Americans who would deny the right to vote to young people. What's with the clown at the end, who thinks that only working people should have a right to vote. See if he still feels that way if he gets injured or retires at some point.

    Why is this even a question??

  • @mamamua4644
    @mamamua4644 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Actually, I’m a millennial and this question came up a lot as a legitimate concern because baby boomers were overwhelmingly making decisions that were not in line with how the modern recession and lack of housing and increased poverty that was happening in our generation that did not affect them. In their times they only needed one income and could buy a house, they didn’t have crippling student loans and could afford a family. They were taking Social Security with the money we were putting in but when I am of age, for every 3 people putting in- only 2 will get out. My generation really felt cornered and concerned for our present and future.
    However, I agree with the answers in this video. But just to anyone asking, this is why this question is a legitimate one to be asking.

    Real question is how LONG should someone run for government 🤨
    Secondly, if you were to remove someone's ability to vote then you're fundamentally removing a democratic system because you feel that a certain age cap gen is not agreeing to YOUR terms, such a childish question.

    This is a stupidly loaded question, but even I have to agree they have the right to vote despite differences in beliefs and values. Now holding a position of power like Senate and the like is a different story... If you ask me if they should have a hard cut-off for term limits and/or age of having a governmental post that make policy and change, then you would be getting DISTiNCTLY different answers.

    I think retirees shouldn’t vote. This is just my personal opinion. But after having family work in retirement communities, it’s evident that many retirees are pretty closed off about the rotating world and can honestly be pretty dang selfish. On the other hand, we should also raise the voting age to 21
