Greetings from Hereford, England. Your tutorial was just what I needed.
I've ordered a sort of 'starter kit' resin equipment to try and make a few coasters and some fun keychain items.
I've watched a couple of other 'bubble' vids, but their ideas were far more how rather than why.
And explaining which resin goes with which activity is a revelation. Unfortunately, I got the wrong type for the coasters, etc, but this is why people like you are so important to beginners. Your how's and why's give people like me the confidence to take that first step. And now that I've found you, I'm gonna check out your vaults for inspiration and guidance.

Wish i had watched this before dropping $130 on the wrong resin. Thank you for the information
I tried resin for the first time with your tips and it turned out excellent. I tried the warming up as I live in Canada and it’s winter right now and let it sit for 7-8 mins then slowly mixing it for 4 mins and again let it sit for 4-5 mins then remove the bubbles that rise to the top. I used plastic spoon and paper cup from the dollar store, gently poured it and let it dry. I Made sure water is not very hot Else the resin will harden while It’s still in the cup. Thank you once again and you’re very beautiful. Take care.
Excellent tutorial, Sherry! Thank you! I have been learning and watching everything for over a year. I even have a pressure pot and vacuum chamber, both unused as yet. I still was confused about the differences in the resin types, so kudos! I even bought a magnetic mixer to try to minimize bubbles, but haven't tried. Don't know why I haven't jumped in, but feel like I need to learn more first.❤️

Excellent point about art resin/casting resin. I was lucky enough to get a pressure pot, but I already owned a compressor (which most people don't mention, so thanks for that). When I don't use it, I almost always have bubbles. I have the most trouble with Art & Glow and Total Boat. They're both coating resins - not casting, so that would be the problem. My favorite resin is the General Purpose resin, from The Epoxy Resin Store. And it's about the cheapest. I have no affiliation, just like the product. I have a vacuum chamber, too, but I just use that for making silicone molds.

Brilliant video, have you ever tried putting the mixed resin into a vacuume chamber ? ive heard that this is good for getting rid of bubbles as well as using it for the silicone mould mix ! Also for deeper pours ive heard that pouring in stages and using the blow torch in between helps too ?

I use a vacuum chamber. Like a pressure pot it’s cost prohibitive but I warm the resin then put in in a vacuum chamber for 20 minutes to help suck the air bubbles out before pouring.
So After I mix, I let them sit for 3o min for bubbles to disappear ?using heater ?

This was really informative 🙂 i have a question about letting it sit before working - do the bubbles still rise to the surface or is there something about pouring or being in a mould that doesnt let that happen? I want to try make something for the first time with resin and it seems there's a lot to learn first!
Letting it sit helps with all the bubbles coming to the surface then you can use a heat gun to pop them before you pour. if you just pour straight into a mould the bubbles can get trapped into the grooves of the mould and not come to the surface.

its usually 90 or higher percentage alcohols

How to remove resin smell anyone know
For casting easy but for table top epoxy or quick set epoxy these wont work if you keep that 20 minute in cup you will see smoking and after that burn because heat is growing a lot..

... it will have set by then. It doesn't pour anymore by then. You have cup-shaped resin after 30 minutes. The bubbles will not be at the top - they will still be in the middle. Because the resin has set, they will be in the middle forever.
