@@Thebeezzkneezz. I prefer these 2 over most films now days due to the fact Atlantis and Treasure Planet used the perfect mix of CGI and cartoon animation making them spectacular as well as having well written stories only a shame we didn't get Treasure Planet 2 but knowing how sequels were back then it would have probably failed
Soooo underrated, so glad you watched this gem. He got the fatherly figure he needed. I still play the soundtrack sometimes. And can we talk about his rat tail? It kind of worked 😆
I died when you connected that both this movie and Black Sails are based on Treasure Island lol to be honest with you, I loved so much Black sails and I remember finishing the last season and being like 'THAT'S IT?' like I was missing something and then looking into it found out on what it was based of and could not believe being so stupid lol. This movie is a comfort one for me, I would always came back and rewatch, the song UGH all the feels, I even have a tattoo on it lol but yeah, love this movie and love Black Sails and the early mention on the video of my man Flint on it, thanks you ma'am, appreciated.
This is movie is one of my childhood favorites. It addresses the difficulties of not having a father at home, and the toll that takes on a child. It shows a young man deciding to take a different path in life than going to prison. I think thats a tough topic to cover, especially in a kids movie.
Ahh love this movie and loving your reaction!! 💕💕 And your right it’s not scars it’s supposed to look like really big eye bags, cos if you notice he doesn’t have any at the end of the movie.
So before this movie my only familiarity with the story of treasure island was the muppet version muppet treasure island which is hands down the best muppet movie ever made but I digress. Because of muppet treasure island I knew the basic lay out of this story but I was skeptical because no one ever talks about treasure planet and when people don't discuss movie it usually means they are bad and not very memorable but this is a GREAT movie. I liked that long john silver was still the villian with the heart of gold. And the emotion and general story was very well done. I'm glad you reacted and enjoyed this.
Mid breakdown at like 6 am, gets a notif, sees that you've reacted to one of my favorite Disney movies that literally shaped me as a person, depression who???
Treasure Planet Yes! This movie is one of my childhood favorites from the 2000s. You should also check out Titan A.E. as well as spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.
When I tell you I literally had the biggest crush on Jim 😖. I literally had a dream that there was a sequel and I was his love interest, like he is so cute.
There was a sequel planned. This was actually a passion project for Clements and Musker. They did Little Mermaid and then said “hey can we make Treasure Island in space now?” Disney said make more hits. They delivered Aladdin and Hercules and Disney finally agreed to let them do the movie they wanted. There is concept art out there on the internet somewhere for the sequel before it was killed. Treasure Planet was released around the same time as Harry Potter and performed poorly. It was one of my favorites though 😭
Cool fact about the movie: At the end when Amelia and Delbert get together and have children, the writers had it where Delbert was the one who carried the babies through pregnancy instead of Amelia. Then Disney got all butt-hurt about nO tRaDiTiOnAl FaMiLy VaLuEs and tOo RiSqUE and made them take it out. Just something to think about 😁
The thing I never hear anyone say outright so I'm not sure if anyone else is picking it up, when Silver tosses the gold to Jim and says it's for his mother to rebuild that inn of hers... Of course it's always possible that it was mentioned between scenes, but I think the idea is he's basically admitting to Jim that he knows because he was there and took part in burning the place down. He's kind of atoning by sending Jim off with enough of the treasure to not only rebuild it, but to upgrade as well.
Silver probably felt bad for it burning down in the first place, because it wasn't deliberate. You remember when they fired inside to get in the door, a lantern got knocked over.
This will forever be one of my favorite movies! I think it had a big part in forming my future personality and interests. Plus Jim was one of my first crushes. Also this movie introduced my brother and I to the band Goo Goo Dolls since the lead singer sang I'm Still Here (which we still jam out to all the time) and they ended up being the first concert I went to!
This may not be " the best disney movie" but definitely one of my favorites I used to watch this all the time with my cousins (along with alantis, meet the Robinsons and Cinderella a twist in time was our other go too's, they're just a good time xD) they just hit me right in the nostalgia
Imagine a GOOD live action adaptation of Treasure Planet, more mature and gritty, like a mixture between Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Wars. I truly think it would rekindle some love for this movie. Also a live action Atlantis.
I know you were saying about phil collins doing the soundtrack for feels. But the purposely chose john rzeznik from the goo goo dolls, because he was grungy and angsty to fit with jim.
Got this on VHS as a kid on my birthday. Always loved it without truly knowing why, but because I already loved other movies for years it took a backseat to stuff like The land before time and The Lion King.
I was just listening to the Treasure Planet soundtrack yesterday and then this gets dropped today 😆 I remember when this movie was advertised, I wasn’t sold (I think it was just B.E.N. lmao) but then I watched it years later when I was in high school and I fell in love. It’s such an underrated film! 😩 Also I originally thought that mark on his face was a scar too. It’s just supposed to help shape his face, but it doesn’t help when they only draw it on one side of his face at a time and it flips sides 🤷♀️
it's not a scar dudeee they're supposed to be super big eyebags, tho I always saw them as those dimples that some poeple have under their eyes and they're so cute and i love ittt

It's not a scar, it's meant to be like shadows under his eyes that outline his cheekbones. To give him more of a sullen look. It just didn't come across well artistically.
This movie was sooo good. Such a cool world they made Edit :I am only now realising that it's "benbow" Inn, all through childhood thought it was Bimbo Inn
