1) Captain Nathanial Flint did NOT build Treasure Planet. It was actually created by an ancient extinct race for the sake of learning and discovery, and Flint just discovered the planet(over 100 years prior to plot) and how to use the teleporter.
2) Captain Amelia and Dr. Doppler are actually members of the same race that features extreme sexual dimorphism, which is when the biological genders of a species show differences in physicality with each gender(which are meant to be complimentary and compatible similar to humans and other species on Earth but just more extreme).
3) They are in space but it's not like space in our universe that's basically a void. The 'space' in Treasure Planet is called the Aetherium and is basically a spacy sea of some kind of vast atmosphere, which is why they don't need space suits to survive like we do IRL. That does also mean that when the spider alien got sent off floating in space he won't die immediately, but rather very slowly starve and dehydrate to death(he's going to SUFFER, which is fitting for what he did to Mr. Aro).
All this info can be found online and stuff for the most part. I just happened to learn a lot about the making of this movie from the DVD special features and the special source book "Treasure Planet: A Voyage of Discovery" where you see a lot of concept art. The book is *very rare* as they only printed so many copies and only did a print run once so it's very expensive to get a hold of. I got lucky finding a good copy for under $100(I think 90 something) years back but prices now are in the hundreds and higher.
There's also an OLD PC game that functions as a sequel called "Treasure Planet: Battle at Procyon" pretty much picking up not too long after the end of the movie(where they celebrated him successfully getting accepted to the space academy) focused on Jim graduating the space academy and getting involved in some major inter...planetary conflicts. You can search up play through videos here on TH-cam to see what all happens(they couldn't get all the cast back to voice but I think the substitutes did pretty good getting close to the OG voices and it was worth the watch for me).
Atlantis is another of Disney's lost gems underrated and under valued despite its vast amount of detail and lore
Yeah they're both sort of misfits among Disney's library
This movie is an extremely underrated masterpiece!
I still remember the day I saw this in theaters as a kid!
I don't like how quick you clocked the daddy issues 😂
I think Atlantis and Treasure Planet tend to be compared because they’re both underrated Disney adventure movies
I love both movies so I’d love to see you react to Atlantis too!
I think Disney learned their lesson with B.E.N. being loud and obnoxious by the time they made Frozen, because they made sure that Olaf whispered most of his lines rather than shout them. And don't get me wrong, as a long-time die-hard fan of Treasure Planet, I have no problem with B.E.N., I think he's hilarious, but I totally get why most people hate him.
Don't over think it. The movie is the book Treasure Island, but in space.
Treasure Planet and Atlantis tend to be compared for a couple reasons:
1) Both are animated classic adventure films with steampunk vibes that (mostly) tried to break free of the Disney traditions of being musicals (with Treasure Planet having that one song in the middle).
2) Both underperformed at the box office due to competition at the time (sadly, these films came out at a time where CG films made by Pixar and Dreamworks were taking over the animated box office...although Treasure Planet dealt with harder times because Disney ACTIVELY tried to make it fail so they could switch over the CG films as well).
It should also be noted that Treasure Planet was a passion project of the directors (John Musker and Ron Clements) who had been trying to do this movie with Disney for over a decade after they directed 1989's "The Little Mermaid" as they kept being given project ("Aladdin") after project ("Hercules") before they were finally allowed to do this.
Let’s go!!!
I loved your reaction to this movie. I was laughing and smiling through it all. And the reason it only got 60%on rotten tomatoes is because it came out in 2002the same year as Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets
Amazing movie! i watched it for the first time a few months ago. I need to watch again, it had me tearing up. I think Meet The Robinsons is a good movie recommendation for you!
Great Video ! Great Movie !
We where robbed of a treasure planet tv series! if that happened we could’ve had more of Jim and silvers father son relationship😔
Flint actuslly didn't build treasure planet he found it trying to use it as a hide out for his ship and crew and they found out what it could do and the booby trap was just perfectly calculated for when thst one fell abd moved the core the lasers would cause extreme amount of damage leading to the planets destruction
OMG really?!! Not me over here thinking this man was a genius 😂😂
I mean a strategic genius most definitely to Calculate when to strike across a whole galaxy that takes brains
❤
I enjoy your content keep it up 🙏🙏
Oh you haven’t watched Atlantis! I’m subscribed to like 5 people that are doing/have done reactions to older Disney movies (not too old! I’m not old! 😭) and I keep forgetting who has and who hasn’t watched the underappreciated duo.
This and Atlantis were two Disney movies that kinda took a different approach and it didn’t really work out. Both were different kinds of sci-fi adventure that they hadn’t really done. But they became cult classics and are much more appreciated by now.
“I don’t wanna sense romantic tension between you two” When the robo cops asked if Delbert was Jim’s dad Sarah said “Ew” 😂
Atlantis does have some cgi, but I’m pretty sure Treasure Planet has way more, especially the integration with 2D. Silver’s arm is so cool!
I think toy packaging or something reveals Silver to be a bear-like species.
It’s Scrooge McDuck that has the safe full of coins
She says what we’re all thinking
I try 😌
@@sunnycloudscinema If you loved Treasure Planet, you would love "Sinbad Legend of the Seven Seas"
The name was scrooge mcduck of that duck
Really liked the reaction eh 😄 keep it up
Definitely do atlantis and hope everyone takes care
I may have to unsubscribe after that "sigma" 😔
