I lived between St Johnsbury and Danville back in 1990-1991. One of the most beautiful areas I’ve ever been to. Miss being there.

I lived there in 62' to mid 63'. It was glorious! I was 9 years old. The Fairbanks museum was amazing. Skating at the open-air skate rink was straight out of a Norman Rockwell painting. Hot cocoa by the log fire...It felt like a dream. Christmas shopping and walking down main Street. Beautiful.

This is a special part of world. My heart swells when I visit the Athenaeum which is the library given to the town by Mr. Fairbanks whose business was scales that weighed hay for farmers. This scale didn't make you take the hay off the carrier to then weigh it.

About one year ago two men in St. Johnsbury, Vermont ran up to me with aluminum baseball bats. They were upset with me for “looking too long at them”. The penalty for this kind of behavior is being beaten to death. Both men, wielding aluminum baseball bats, were screaming at the top of their lungs, “We are going to beat your f.....g head in until blood runs out of your f…..g ears!!”
Other than a frequent murder or two, this really is a nice place to visit. Bring all of the kids and go skiing.

The Caledonian Record Weekend Edition March 8 & 9, 2014
    by James Jardine, Staff Writer
"Felony charges of burglary, kidnapping and 1st degree murder have been filed against two Northeast Kingdom men in connection with the murder of 78 year-old Sheffield grandmother Pat O'Hagan.
Caledonia County State's Attorney Lisa Warren charged brothers Keith Baird, 33, and Richard Fletcher, 27, alleging in court documents that they entered O'Hagan's Sheffield Village home on September 10, 2010 with the intention of committing a burglary. Police said O'Hagan was then forced into her kitchen at gun point and that a third suspect identified in the affidavit as their cousin Michael Norrie, 23, shot O'Hagan in the head killing her."

And Mr. Craven, while you are telling everyone what a swell town this is...don't forget to mention the murder and sexual abuse of one of our most beloved teachers from The Academy!!! Why don't you tell the truth about St J.? Do you even live in St' J? Or do you live in someplace like Peacham, where the rich folk live?

It's true....#1 state in the country for drug trafficking and addiction. Outsiders like to think it's all about maple syrup, apples, and skiing, but it's more about lack of decent job opportunities for our young people, poverty, and don't get me started on Depot Square Apts....otherwise known as "The Bed Bug Plaza". In the early 29th century it is said that St. Johnsbury was a wonderful town to live in.....21st century? Not so.

You really sugar coated St. Johnsbury!!! Not like that at all. Wasn't even that glamorous back in the hayday! All industry is gone! The town is slowly decaying. No money to make repairs! No more middle class. Beautifully sugar coated production with the perfect lighting and actors!
