All of the Borderlands games share a similar look and feel, however, most of them also have elements that make them unique. So, we're going to categorize each one for a specific kind of player.
I revisited Borderlands 1 before I heard about the new movie. I did this on a whim. It bit me like a vampire! It spurred such an addiction within me that I bought all of them and the DLC afterward. These games are very addictive. Borderlands and the genre were true innovators and legends in gaming.
If you're playing for fun, BL2 easy. If you're playing for the story/lore, BL1, then Pre-Sequel, then BL2, and finally Tales 1. There are no other games

Borderlands the pre sequel is great and Bl3 is even better, not playing them is missing out on so much fun. I personally prefer Bl3 over bl2 as long as you can get through the dialogue
Don't let the oxygen mechanic keep you from playing pre-sequel. enemies constantly drop O2 cans that you automatically pick up, and stepping inside the many oxygen bubbles scattered around will almost instantly refill you. oxygen takes a long time to drain, and running out kills you very slowly, not immediately. Anyone who complains about oxygen in TPS just isn't cut out for Borderlands
It's even more fun and dynamic than the first two. I'd say the first one is outdated and far too slow paced to be an interesting FPS while the 3 is just what we expect from the Borderlands world and a FPS. But I prefer Tales or the Pre-Sequel, those are fun ideas to develop their world. As for Tiny Tina's Wonderland it's a great entry too.
@@Ranyanya I used to feel the same way about Borderlands 1 but I bought the GOTY version cheap recently and they cleaned up some of its issues. The slow intro goes by much quicker when, e.g. you actually have a mini-map now. They added some extra legendaries as well. It's still fun and you get addicted just like the other ones. B2 is Borderlands 1 with extra flavour and toppings. But the basic gameplay loop is pretty much the same. It has some things unique to it as well. You can hold onto your favourite weapons longer than the other games before they become weak, the Mad Max-style atmosphere is much stronger, the weapon feel when aiming is slightly different, etc. It's a good game.
Simple, you play them in the order by the titles. The Wonderland one adds nothing so you can skip that. Might as well play them in order since each new game builds upon the last.
My only problem with Borderlands 2 is that on PC due to the old engine it become an unoptimized stuttery mess despite having a spec that is way beyond the recommended requirement at the time. Granted you can fix it with mods, but man I kinda hope the game can get a small update to fix the optimization issue.
Forgot to mention you can just not do the having to care about oxygen if you play as claptrap. Also I believe Handsome Jack or some crazy other thing that is Handsome Jack is also playable via a DLC. I still maintain why 2 has a better story was because of Anthony Burch worked on 2 and pre-sequel on the writing side, but he left Gearbox before 3 was a thing.
Pretty spot on with this Borderlands breakdown. I will say that Borderlands 3 is the best game from a gameplay and content perspective especially at the end of its lifecycle.

to this day, I still think that Gearbox should've kept the idea of hybrid weapons and added them to all the sequels and prequel. even though they were initially just accidents or bugs, their uniqueness and rarity are exactly the essence of a looter shooter game.
The writers suffered a bad case of loosing all of their talent when bl3 rolled around and that shows very well in the movie, everything before 3 has gokd writing though (bl2 has my personal all time favourite villain in handsome jack)

All of the games with the exception of Borderlands 3 are varying degrees of good. New Tales From the Borderlands is good, too, just not quite as good as Tales. BL3 feels very forced.

So, did they ever give a proper conclusion to all the stuff that happened at the end of Tales from the Borderlands? Like what happend after Rhys and Fiona went into the Vault, what happend between Rhys and Sasha in-between Tales and BL3, or maybe whatever happened to Gortys and Loader Bot? Any of that? I didn't play all the BL3 DLCs, or anything after BL3, so if anything is answered, please just tell me where and don't spoile it for me lol.

2 was arguably the best on in the series. BL1 set the foundation for other games in the series. Tiny Tina was an experiment in my eyes but worked out well to me. It was really funny and fun to build your character. BL3 was mixed but to me still solid. The twins were just a little annoying ngl

Playthrough each at least once to get an idea of the story but three is the most diverse in terms of build variety. There is no real meta in bl3. Two has the best story. One is good for it's time but has aged quite a bit.

I started with The Handsome Collection, which includes BL2 and The Pre-sequal on PS4 . It comes with all the DLCs .
Just play 2. By the time you finished all the DLCs, you'd have enough Borderlands for a lifetime.

You can learn about Sasha and Fiona from the recent novel. And that’s all as far as I know.
