And the band took a hiatus waiting on him to recover and figure out how to carry on with him with one arm. Replacing him was not an option for them. Not only do they rock as a band...they ROCK as humans!
Wife here..Saw these guys a few weeks in Atlanta GA...My Husband and I were DRENCHED but they kept ROCKING and were AMAZING...."No Cure at All"!! AWESOME!! "Tore it up" ABSOLUTELY!!
I remember when this group's first album dropped and we were listening to it and thinking, "man these guys rock hard". At that time they were all of 16 years old. They've come a long, long way.
Def leppard changed the game with the pyromania album. For me it's still the greatest rock album of the 80's. Only kept off the no1 spot by Michael Jackson's thriller. Sold 100.000 copies a week for most of 83. And for a month in the middle of the year it was shifting 100.000 copies a day. Mega album for sure.
Def Leppard always rocks. They just came out with a new album. The couple of songs I've heard are pretty good. I've seen them in concert back in the 80s. One of the best concerts. They're so full of energy. Would love to go again. Ticket prices are so high
I love how the intro of Gunter Gleiben Glauchen Globen said by drummer Rick Allen because he was getting bored of saying, the 1,2,3,4 count in, on take number '1000', was also use as the intro for The Offspring's "Pretty Fly For a White Guy" and no reaction channel have ever got that. lol
I’ve seen Def Leppard four times now, beginning with the Hysteria tour, when Rick first came back after losing an arm. Later, they lost Steve, their lead guitarist. Still, they stay together and keep rocking!! They put on one of the best concerts out there, IMO. Love them!! 💁🏻♀️
I’ve seen them 4 times as well- always an amazing show! 🤘🏼🤘🏼 The first show I saw was also the one where they came back after Rick lost his arm- but that was the Hysteria tour, not Pyromania. Best concert I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen hundreds. The stage was “in the round”, in the middle of the coliseum, slowly rotating so we could all see Rick play with just one arm. And yes, that was when Steve Clark was still alive…
@@ithilnin123 It’s all good… they’ve had so many albums it’s hard to keep them all straight! But honestly, I will NEVER forget this show- December 19, 1987, Greensboro, NC. It’s the only concert I’ve ever been to out of the hundreds I’ve seen that I can still remember the date- it was THAT GOOD! ❤️❤️❤️🤘🏼🤘🏼
The transition from the bridge into the chorus is goosebumps good. It gives me chills. The difference in sound that they came up with from the verse and bridge to the chorus is brilliant.
Def Leppard always brings the best, and they are just as good live in concert. Just saw them in Atlanta with Poison, Motley Crew, and Joan Jett. Def Leppard played in the rain to close the concert for the hole time. It was awesome.
Saw them many times, front row! It’s a good band. Talented. Joe Elliot’s vocals are amazing, with Steve Clark on lead guitar, joined by Phil Collen, and Rick Savage on bass. Rick Allen, incredible drummer, who lost an arm in a violent car crash where the seatbelt severed the arm. Added an extra peddle to the electronic drum kit and taught himself to play all over again. Three guitar bands are very successful like GNR. They bring a great rock vibe that attracted the guys and overt sexy that attracted the ladies. Oh the back stage stories…. LOL. They are touring still… Special mention to Steve Clark. Classically trained, skilled songwriter that was tragically taken from us by alcohol overdose at age 30. In an interview, Joe Elliot said they tried so many times to get him help but after each show, Steve retreated into himself, with his guitar and his bottle. Many of their hits are related to his talent. RIP, you made rock fun. 💔
I remember working at Wendy's in the 80s. During open-hours, we had Muzak piped in. But after, we'd have whatever radio station people wanted. It was then that we heard the drummer was in a major car accident or something like that. One of the young ladies I was working with broke down and bawled her eyes out. These dudes were pretty big back then - and a lot of their songs were played at parties. Pour Some Sugar On Me has been played for years during my local indoor lacrosse team's games.
Def Leppard is an awesome band, and for the band to still be out their playing with the tragedies they've endured. First with Rick Allen losing his arm and coming back. And the death of guitarist Steve Clark and being replaced by Vivian Campbell they continue to rock hard. I've seen them live more than half a dozen times.
Def Leppard is my favorite band. One of their concerts you should check out is from 1987 called Def Leppard in the round. Here are some recommendations of Def Leppard songs. Pour some sugar on me, Armageddon it, Hysteria,Animal, Women,Let's get rocked, Heaven is,Make Love like a man,Photograph,Rock rock till you drop,Promises,Guilty,21st century Sha la la la girl and more. Till next time🤘On.
Glad you loved this! Cuz I LOVE Def Leppard! And I've seen them live and yes BJ, the crowd is up for this one and lead singer Joe Elliott demands them to sing along "I wanna Rock and Roll!" ❤️🎼🎸💋
I remember when this came out (when I was in high school)... while a lot of the hair metal bands (not named Van Halen) didn't get much air play on more mainstream radio stations, Def Leppard was one of the few that had cross appeal.
I have been to their concerts. They are an awesome band! Performance and dedication. When the drummer lost his arm in a horrific car accident. There was never a discussion of a replacement. They all agreed he could do it with one arm. They waited and supported their drummer through it all! He is even more amazing with the 1 arm than he was with 2. What dedication and preserverance!
I like the older Def Leppard before becoming more glam metal This was a rocker. Check out songs from On Through the Night (1980), High 'n' Dry(1981), Pyromania(1983) - which this song is on.
Def Leppard rocks! How bad-azz can you be? For them the baddest of bad!! They are not only a good band , they are the best of buds!! I mean they did put their wants aside to wait on their bud to get well!! Much respect for them! That's character! Great reaction!😎🔥❤
Your right.. I've seen them 2 times back in the day and the whole concert BLEW the concert hall roof off everytime. It was full speed ahead the whole show. Their concerts were always a Big Party atmosphere. The Best Times.❤🤟
It was such a different vibe in the 80's. I saw Leppard live on tour in '83 - they were touring this record - and this tune was all over the radio. Along with just about everything from this record. Wish you could hear this having lived through that time, and just how big this song, and Def Leppard was at the time.
Hey party people great reaction! I saw these guys About 3 weeks ago They still rock as hard today as they did back in the eighties ! Can't never go wrong with DEF LEOPARD!😎👍🏻🤘
You're right about folks going wild during this song. I was at the Stadium tour that started in ATL. Def Leppard, Poison, Motley Crue and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Started pouring rain during Def Leppard performance. They continued playing and crowd just rocked along.
Oh geez! Another iconic song and band!! 💃💃💃💃 I’m sure y’all know by now (I’m behind on videos 🤭😬) about the drummer losing his arm- a true testament to dedication, loyalty and determination. The rest of the band waited for him to recover and he tears it up with 1 arm and his legs. Keep going with them PLEASE. 💕💙
One of the many genius strokes of their producer, "Mutt" Lange, was to create songs with arena shows in mind. And there's hardly a better example than this track - the flirting with the audience is built into the song. Imagine seeing this live.
this song in concert, really got the crowd going. I saw them in 83 in Knoxville Tn and they rocked the house. They had a awesome laser show and pyro show also. Flames and laser beams, what a show, ha.
Great reaction! This song never fails to bring out the head bobbing when it starts lol! One of my faves! It is hard not to love this song! Love Def Leppard!🤘❤️
When this video first came out on Mtv, my friend and I (2 pre-teen girls 😂) used to stand in front of her TV and pretend we were Joe Elliot with a microphone. I'll never forget it and I think of it every time I hear any song from the Pyromania album. 🙂
I just saw them on their Stadium Tour a week ago in St. Louis. This was the second-to-last song they played. They rolled right into Photograph after it. They don’t sound quite the same, but are still awesome.
*I remember my road to liking Def Leppard. My friend had their first album; On Through the Night. One day I'm over there and he wants to play it for me. I remember not really wanting to, but I did. I really liked: Let It Go__Bringin' On The Heartbreak__and I especially liked; High-N-Dry. Def Leppard dropped a new album 2 months ago called 'Diamond Star Halos'. I'm addicted!. Their best record since Hysteria. "Take What You Want' and 'Gimme A Kiss' are bangers!
This is the song, and album (Pyromania) that introduced me to Def Leppard. The entire album is a banger. They were so big in ‘83 kids in the AUC (Clark, Spelman, Morris Brown & Morehouse) were walking around with Union Jack muscle shirts.

I went to a Def Leppard concert and they rock! Back in the 80's they were compared to Led Zepplin by some critics. Not sure if the comparison was about success or style of music. They are still rockin today. Their drummer became a fan favorite after his arm was removed and continued playing on tours.
I bought the album in 1983, about 1 day after this song debuted on WNEW-FM New York City. This album made the band famous. The album sold 7 million copies, making them instant millionaire rockers. Wow, what an album!!!!
No f-f-f-foolin', this concert was a blast. Went with my then girlfriend, now wife and these guys are the epitome of the stadium band. Massive sets, massive sound, and massive crowds. Not among my top bands, but one of my favorite concerts and always energetic and fun. They were in the background for much of my younger days and touch a lot of great memories.
They are amazing in concert. You definitely get your monies worth. They’re still releasing music to this day and keep with their sound. Def Leppard is more of a family than a band. They waited for their drummer who lost his arm in an accident to create an electronic drum kit and learn to play it with his feet before going back in the studio or on tour. Check on TH-cam for “Rick Allen drum solo” and you’ll see why his nickname is The Thundergod.
This song came out when I was in high school and this tune still is so anthemic. I will be seeing Def Leppard, Poison, Motley Crue and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts in five days in Denver Colorado and it's going to be an epic classic rock concert!
Def Leppard has been my favorite band since high school, over 30 years!! I’ve seen them live multiple times, most recently on the Stadium Tour with Motley Crue, Poison, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. They ROCKED, even after all this time!!! If you liked Rock of Ages, check out Photograph!!!! That is IMHO their absolute best song!!
Now this is my era and I still love old school rock! I can't wait to see their tour! I haven't see them since this album came out I was a high school rocker chick.
Def Leppard was my first favorite band ever. First album I ever bought was their album "Hysteria" (on vinyl) coz in 1988 record stores were still the thing. My mom was a rocker chick 19 years older than me, and she took me to see Def Leppard in 1989 for the Hysteria tour, and that year I also got to see Bon Jovi with Skid Row opening. They killed it! You should check out more Def Leppard! You're absolutely right about when Rock of Ages plays live!!
Funny yall just dropped this, I just watched a short documentary about the recording of this album just a few hours ago. This is an iconic rock album....was a scene changer.
I was a teenager when this came out and it was the first hard rock/metal album I ever bought. I listened to Casey Kasem's "American Top 40" every week and pulled for this album to make number 1, and it would have, but for months it was kept out of the top spot by Michael Jackson's "Thriller." You've reacted to "Photograph," and the other two big hits from this one are "Too Late For Love," and "Foolin'." Best album they ever did.
I love the Pyromania album. I inherited it when I got my brother's hand me down car in 1995. I popped the tape in and never stopped listening to Def Leppard after that fateful day :) Nice reaction.
Hell yeah 👍,first album I ever bought also and no one minute of the album is bad.So glad to see you listening to this.Great reaction so happy y'all like it.They r coming to Arlington in August! FYI.From the window to the wall hahaha 😁
Produced by Mutt Lange. Written by him, Joe Elliott and the late Steve Clark. Keyboards by Thomas Dolby. He and Lange are holdover from their roles 2 years prior with Foreigner in the album 4. RIP Steve Clark 😢 Great song 👍 and album. Suggested next song: Rock Rock 'til You Drop.
Saw these guys just before covid and I would put it as one of the best live band to go to. If you get the chance to see them you will not be disappointed.
Still touring. Excellent show. They sound terrific. Hit after hit. Producer Mutt Lange shaped them and it has stuck all these years....AND good guys. Go see them & dance your ass off.
Asia & BJ Def Leppard's drummer, Rick Allen aka Thunder God lost his left arm in a car accident in 1984. Def Leppard put on hiatus until Rick recover and rehab from the accident. Def Leppard had custom drumkit designed for Rick as he uses his right arm and legs for full effect. Rick was 15 when he got hired as Def Leppard's drummer. See him in action in live videos, be impressed of his skills.
The drummer plays without an arm now. He's freaking awesome
He's been playing without his left arm since 1987.
He lost his arm after this song was released. But big props to him.
And the band took a hiatus waiting on him to recover and figure out how to carry on with him with one arm. Replacing him was not an option for them. Not only do they rock as a band...they ROCK as humans!
He used to play with two!
@@lw3918 I was bout to say this too. He's played 95% of the bands existence with 1 arm lol
Definitely need to do more Def Leppard. They blew up MTV with this one back in the day!!! They are awesome in concert!
Just saw Def Leppard on June 30th... Fantastic! Also saw them back in the day 🙂

That was a fun LIVE! Great reaction and congratulations on 200K!!🤓🤠

Great song… this is the one that hooked me on to Def Leppard!
This was played non stop once by a local radio station for 2 hours lol! I think the DJ left the booth and the record was on loop replay.

Saw def Leppard last night. They rocked the stadium. Energy was palpable.
Great way to end a concert w Joan Jett, Poison & Motley Crue.
Glad you like this one. Def Leppard are an amazing band, with a lot of ballads, anthems, and just good old R & R. 🤘🏼

I love the Pyromania album. I inherited it when I got my brother's hand me down car in 1995. I popped the tape in and never stopped listening to Def Leppard after that fateful day :) Nice reaction.
Def Leppard is the goat!! This one is epic! Nobody can beat them or Journey!!❤
I've seen Def Leppard 7 times and can't wait to see them again...best band ever...!!
I saw them live in the 80’s and it was by far the best concert I’ve ever been to. THE GREATEST ❤
This album was a huge influence on me when I was 13 years old! It is a very good album from top to bottom actually👍👍
I saw them in concert a few weeks ago, and they still got it.
Was at 2 of their concerts and you are right they do blow the place up when this song is played 😎👍🏻
Best concert I ever went to. Still jamming to them in my 50's

Produced by Mutt Lange. Written by him, Joe Elliott and the late Steve Clark.
Keyboards by Thomas Dolby.
He and Lange are holdover from their roles 2 years prior with Foreigner in the album 4.
RIP Steve Clark 😢
Great song 👍 and album.
Suggested next song: Rock Rock 'til You Drop.
First concert I ever saw! They were amazing
I loved the song all over again once I see you two smilin' and swayin' with it... so good! thumbs up and thanks for making my day!
Bought their first album (on through the night) when it came out! 'High n dry' is the best👍🤘
I saw them in '88 in Lake Placid NY, in the same arena as The Miracle on Ice.
Saw these guys just before covid and I would put it as one of the best live band to go to. If you get the chance to see them you will not be disappointed.
Their first two albums were their best. Try "Hello America" or "On through the night".
Still touring. Excellent show. They sound terrific. Hit after hit.
Producer Mutt Lange shaped them and it has stuck all these years....AND good guys.
Go see them & dance your ass off.
You're right about their concerts. Put a few thousand people in there and it's pretty wild. Fun!
Such a great band🔥 at that time they put on one hell of a show.
Yessss!!! This is my *JAM* 🔥🔥 got me hyped up over here now 🎉🎉
Def Leppard is one of my all time favorite. I have loved then so

Def Leppard's drummer, Rick Allen aka Thunder God lost his left arm in a car accident in 1984.
