First, that video with BB, John and Derek is one of my all time favorite videos. But you are detail oriented and you picked up on BB's face at that moment and I think you nailed the explanation. This reminds me of a detail that nobody I know has picked up on from John's famous "pentatonic equator" video. There are like 100 or more videos out there that talk about it but all of them only talk about what it is. None of them pick up on John's comment about why it matters; the "ergonomics" and the total shift in the hammer-ons, pull-offs and slides that are available on that side of "equator"even though the scale is identical. Anyway, I love when someone has that eye for detail. Thank you.
Anyone who wants to understand BB’s playing needs to watch his master class videos. They’re usually floating around TH-cam. He explains a lot of of where his playing came from. You’ve hit a lot of of the points here.
@@oldtimetinfoilhatwearer i agree, he also used to listen to alot of harmonica! And alot of blues was played in that back in the day since it was cheap and easilly accecable
I like two things you do like John. You strike the chord for the tonality... and then riff. I noticed how much he does that on his long instagram live videos he did. Also, him and people like Joe Bonamassa have this great way of "playing with fire"... and stinging the notes... wicked. You've got a good bit of that down also! There's more to it than just the way they attack the strings. Maybe you could do a video on this?
I beg to differ. BB King certainly knew at least the fundamentals of music theory as it pertains to the guitar. There is an instructional video in which he talks at length about his style and what makes him do the things that he does. Within that entire lesson, he does certainly talk about and use chords and explains what he’s doing.
yep i wrote in my disscription that this reasech was about whe bb got started in the beggening careet a nd not in the later timw when we was becoming famous! cheers
@remij1992 I apologize for not having read the description, but honestly, I should’ve figured that out while I was watching the video. I just wanted to highlight for others that there was definitely thought behind his improvisational technique. Also, apologies if the tone of my original comment came off as aggressive, truly not intentional.
@ its all good bro, wer a good comunity here just chilling trying to create a chill place for musicians where we can just chill and discuss idias , cheers🤘🤘

Fully dedicated, real musician right here. Thanks man, keep doing the work!
Thank you bro!! I appriciate you🤘
His early playing style didn't hit the BB box near as much and leans heavy on TBone Walker
Yepp, but tbone didnt really play in major scale, he was more of a blues scale guy so it wasnt too relevent with this video🤘! Thanks for watching
I thought it was cause he forgot that John Mayer was there

Im thinking most of BB's licks were from Horn and piano players
