    Hello Eric. I love your iMovie clips.
    I have a question. I use iMovie on an iPhone 8 Plus. I can do most things but need help here and there.
    Eg
    After laying down a video track, I then want to insert some cutaway shots be it a photo or second bit of video BUT KEEP THE ORIGINAL Soundtrack in place. Can I do that in iMovie on iPhone?
    You’re iMovie clips seem all related to desktop ( presumably Mac with mouse operation)
    Can you include some tutorials for iPhone please.

    • @LordSimba2nd
      @LordSimba2nd 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Using this brothers method, he may suggest you stop the audio clip at the exact point you need, export the file to desktop in maximum quality and then import the footage again to add your next layer of audio and the rinse and repeat, hope this helps 🙌🏽

    can you cross dissolve when you have 2 layers of video? I cannot get it to make the transition

    • @ET_Videos
      @ET_Videos  ปีที่แล้ว

      You’d probably want to step up to Final Cut Pro or you will have to “pre-make” the video in another project and then import it. You could also try DaVinci Resolve (free version) but it’s a steep learning curve. Basically you are pushing the limits of iMovie.

      Not sure I understand 100% but let me give it a try. Firstly, does the audio need to stay in sync with the video?? And do you need to keep all the Audio or can I mute sections? Let me know and I’ll try to answer

    I have a question. I'm teaching online and recording my lessons for my student teaching program. I don't have every parents' consent to record the students. Only one so I have to cover the rest of the students (I only have 3 to 5 students). They're deaf, so we all used ASL to communicate with each other. We can't just have them turn off their camera. I finally learned how to use an image (smiley face) and cover one student. It works just fine but my problem is that I cannot add more images at the same time. I teach the class through the zoom online. It is extremely frustrating and I can't figure out how to add more images. I could only cover one student. anyone can help me out with this?
    Thanks!!

    • @ET_Videos
      @ET_Videos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well for what you are doing you should either buy Final Cut Pro X (FCPX) or use Black Magic DaVinci Resolve (free beta available) to do it. iMovie is limited to one image/video extra. So...if you need to do more than one...you have to make the video with one extra layer...then save it and create a new project with that video, etc. It's not fun! With the two applications I mentioned they let you have as many extra video time lines as you need.

    • @saidamendoza4351
      @saidamendoza4351 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ET_Videos Hi! Thank you for replying so quickly! After watching your video, I realized I have to save the video each time and create a new project to cover the students’ face. I did that and I just completed almost an hour ago. That was a lot of work but quicker than what I’ve been trying to do ALL DAY! Thank you! This is better than nothing.

    You know how people make youtube videos where they're watching and doing commentary on a video that they have playing up in picture in picture? My question is - How do you talk about a video you put in PICTURE IN PICTURE and pause it/ then play it again each time you want to respond to parts of it??

    • @ET_Videos
      @ET_Videos  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use freeze frame. It's in the speedometer icon at the top right. There is a drop down and you will see freeze frame in there. Once you select it you can make it as long or as short as needed.

    • @LogicallyOffensive
      @LogicallyOffensive 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ET_Videos That's not fixing the problem...When I hit import and start recording myself, it's just recording me (I can only see me)...Then I have to overlay the picture in picture video over the top of that AFTER I recorded myself talking.... But that's not allowing me to reply and commentate the video in the PIP that I want to talk about.

    • @ET_Videos
      @ET_Videos  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LogicallyOffensive What you are trying to do is probably better done using OBS. iMovie isn't really designed for what you are trying to do, if i am understanding you correctly.

    • @LogicallyOffensive
      @LogicallyOffensive 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ET_Videos What is OBS? It allows you to record yourself while watching and commentating on a picture in picture video at the same time??

    • @ET_Videos
      @ET_Videos  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can but it really is a pain in the you-know-what to do it in iMovie on the iPad. I wouldn’t bother trying it...lol. Luma fusion can do more pro level features but isn’t free. If you want more than what iMovie can do...I recommend that for iPad.

    • @ET_Videos
      @ET_Videos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes this is a workaround. If you need multiple layers you can upgrade to Final Cut Pro or try Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve which has a free version. iMovie has pretty much always been like this, and I don't see them changing it.

    Apple is such a greedy company. Windows Movie Maker for Windows 95 ( or however was called) was better... compared the technology at that time...

    • @ET_Videos
      @ET_Videos  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      But now we don't have a Windows Movie Maker so...Being a "Greedy Company" keeps products like iMovie, Pages, Notes, Sheets, and everything else free to people that buy Mac's. For the amount of free software that comes with a Mac...I don't think they are Greedy. Some people buy a Kia, some people buy a Benz. That's how I look at it. If you want FREE and full featured...Go no further than Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve. There is a totally free version you can download. This works on Mac/PC/Linux. So best of all worlds. That said, I still prefer iMovie and Final Cut Pro over Resolve, for their ease of use, and they get-out-of-my-way lol.
