I must be getting old (66) because this feature was a factory option available on Dodge and Plymouth muscle cars back in 1970. My '70 Cuda had a "Slapstick" automatic where this feature locked it in first, second and auto...loved it!
Last Saturday (May 8, 2021) I went to the San Diego Antique Drag Race just outside of Ramona California. Three days ago (May 13, 2021) I went to "Thursday Night" Thunder at the Irwindale Speedway for their open test and tune drag night. California blows for almost everything except racing and the weather. Love your car and wish I could see you race. Good luck man.
Wicked nice Mopar mate. I also have a Mopar here in Australia,a 1980 Chrysler,it’s on my channel. My shifter is pretty much the same as yours and I’m so doing this awesome mod. Thank you. 🤟
Will definitely do this to my 67 R/T.. Been thinking about this issue quite awhile now, as my 727 is manual valve body so here's to you for sharing the cool fix as well as simplicity of it thanks ...side by side North of Seattle, Bow wa
I hear you on the Dana, it was only a couple hundred more than the 8 3/4. I got mine with rear disk brakes from Cass at DoctorDiff after I blew up my 7 1/4 with just a 4bbl carb, performer intake and a Lunati 10200701 cam in my little 318. I went with 4.10 gears and the the Eaton TruTrac because I still drive my barracuda on the street.
Hey brother, checking in from mid Tn. I have missed seeing the Dart, hopefully the track will open up soon. Liked the neutral lock out trick. I ran a Cheetah valve body with a reverse pattern. But for a standard pattern that tip is really slick. Just another reason why I love your channel, always passing on great advice. Looking forward to the Dana install. Stay strong brother.
Thats a neat upgrade, I wondered what you did with your shifter. I have an old aftermarket shift gate that bolts onto the side of the factory shifter. You have to push the button to upshift 1-2-3 .....no neutral buzzzzz haha
Thank you very much. I’m not to sure about well thought out tho! I often go back a fix or clean up up things that I learn about after I have done a job. Haha that’s how she goes. Thanks for watching. More to come soon.
Great videos! I made a slap shift upgrade for my shifter and some others. I want to do a Mopar soon. I can slap it twice. I've also converted B&M and TCI to work better than their factory detent allows. I have True Slap demonstration videos on TH-cam. DPJ Fabricating.
Here is how my patented reverse patterns function. I have normal patterns for the 3 and 4 speeds, and reverse patterns for each. th-cam.com/video/2kzyjK-rUm4/w-d-xo.html
L O L now that I'm in the trunk I oughta paint the whole thing ! That is why your car is looking so good you see something you don't like , Bam , make it right ! 🤘
Dang wish I would have seen this before I installed my shifter and console stuff in the car. Oh well I'll have the console back out to do something with the funky ashtray door hopefully sometime soon. Thanks for the vid/tip man!
Nice mod but I'm surprised you haven't switched to a reverse pattern manual valve body? I ran those on the street all the time and no missed gears pulling it backwards.
@@craigcontofalsky4387 would love to. Will try this summer when things get opened back up. It’s pretty expensive to get to the closest one tho. And I would need a trailer

I also have a 68 dart but I have a question do u still use the 5x4 bolt pattern or did u change it to the 5x4.5
@@ricardoguerrerojr80 I’m on the bigger bolt pattern at 4.5
Ya 5x4 there is nothing for that ...any recommendation web site to find parts to upgrade

Right on, I was planning on tbe same idea, use the factory shiftervin my 67, great video.
Right on man. Thanks for watching bro!
😊 great stock shifter upgrade! I can definitely do that on my 70' Dart...
It works great!
Sicccccc looks nice all back together!💪💪💪
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
A bunch of years ago I had bought a plate that a man was making that converted the shifter to a 4 spd overdrive automatic . Still got it somewhere.

Right on! Sounds like a great set up
Put a reverse pattern valve body in it, I used to have one in my super bee, worked great
Full manual reverse with trans brake is now lol. This is an older vid! Check out the channel for more!
Nothing like a free mod that works well, that’s a great tip
👍🏻
Cool trick, I think I'll do this to mine, I've hit neutral so many times in the past! Thanks for sharing!
Great! Glad it helped! Amd thanks for watching
Nice mod. But if you don't have a welder, back in the day we would also file the detent on 3rd gear down so it drops into it also locking it in.
Right on. That’s a great idea too. Thanks for watching

You need to make some t-shirts with the shifter on there.
“Burn out in 2nd…Rip It!”
That’s great idea! Shirts would be cool. I’ll look into it! Thanks!
i need to do this asap. where's your cuzzins shop? i'm in vic, we've met at the cruise ins. i have a 440 in a 67 barracuda

No no okej from 1-3 You can hope over 2an.Slapstick are The way tou gå..orginal in The Challenger.Race stick orginal thats are cool..
But this is free. And everyone already has it. And Slap sticks are expensive
With technology today, why on earth would a shifter not have a notched lockout device to prevent neutral from happening?
Because it’s from 1968.
Only drawback is you cannot click the car in neutral very easy after a run without you pressing the button and perhaps going into reverse
Will you change the hood to a GFK pin hood? Would safe some weight on your front axle or not?
Full fiber glass hood is in its future just can’t decide on style yet.
question, if i put a 5200 rpm govenor plus a shift kit..in my 727..will it E.T. as well as shifting manually?
You would have to get the shift points to line up with where you were shifting it yourself. It can be done. Thanks for watching.
Hey Man. Was that a B-5 blue dart?
It was originally a blue from factory. Not sure if b5 tho. No fender tag.
What is the radiator hose &ends
Check out the vid on it!
Can this be done for a 60's truck dash shifter?
I don’t know. Take it apart and look I guess
How long is the shifter from floor to knob?
It’s the stock shifter, I didn’t measure it. CHeck out the newer shifter mod I have done!
