Spent 3 years in automotive, and 5 years in HVAC while mildly obsessed with quantum mechanics. Currently freelance appliance/golf cart repairs for myself. Thanks for the motivation to charge what I am worth!
I get paid for knowing what goes wrong in radios communications systems and to prevent it from going completely offline potentially leaving first responders deaf.. I remember writing a bill similar to that in the video to a ham radio op who brought his base radio in.. Charged him $300 for the service.. and he didn't want to pay, he tried to run that old rhetoric "I'm a ham operator I save lives" and I replied "No you don't, rescue workers and trained medical personal save lives, You talk on a radio as a hobby and if needed relay information" then I detailed the bill as follows: - $10 for the part, $50 for the labor and $240 for knowing what part to replace.. I didn't go to college and get my degrees to hand out free work..
Wow not only am Eye in the information niche but is learning how to acquire keys for access through doors of data Codes as a created space where abundance travels. Thank you for teaching me that their are valves in need of release that will relieve pressure.👁🌟🌞🤩
Excellent! Very true. It's a proven fact, that at times, there might not be a second chance for a call back. Great story! I agree, Professionalism and knowledge is paramount. Most people don't mind paying a fair price for a true professional, but then again, some don't want to pay at all regardless of how exceptional the service may have been.
I love the passion in this video I 100% back the movement here however I've tried this strategy and people just laugh the reality is people who are cheap and they are not going to pay you because they don't respect you and respect the fact that you have knowledge there needs to be laws in place to protect guys like us for example where I live it's actually illegal to ask for money before you start working something like this needs to change I ask lots of questions before I even step foot in the house I explained to the people that I do not bargain nor am I open 2 adjusting a price the cheap people always start arguing before we get started this strategy has proven to be 70/30 in the success rate as far as weeding out people who wish to not pay governments need to change consumer laws to help tradespeople I have heard of countless stories of people in trades who have lost money due to ignorant people who do not respect the fact that we work hard for our money have knowledge put time and effort into what we do in order to serve them in theory we are doctors of the heating and air conditioning world and I feel like this industry is going in the toilet fast because of the lack of respect one of the things that really bothers me is people posting videos on TH-cam showing the general public how to go about fixing heating and ac units you're taking money out of all of our pockets when you do stuff like that and these people should not be working on gas-fired or electrical equipment without proper knowledge it is dangerous for them and to the public it also causes problems with a customer who has trust issues he can go on TH-cam watch a video and think he now is an expert on what you just did when in fact he has no prior knowledge or any understanding of how the Equipment Works develops an opinion that is inaccurate
Jon Minnella i love the sticker price shock. Some people think they should pay 12 bucks for a capacitor when amazon shows the price. Im like yeah this thing is 200 bucks, and im also charging you a service fee ontop of that, muhahaa we're evil.
Great point but a lot of newer a/c companies prefer sales techs usually newbies fresh out of school w/o field experience and pay them less, always condemning units for a sale even if its a capacitor, motor on 3 yr or less systems.
goose couple. if you have fresh air damper , open into the return air . customer is asking for cooling. outside temperature is 80 degrees. space temperature is 100 due to computer system overheating the space also you realized the compressor contactor, coil is pulled in but you have no power to compressor. what's is causing the c c coil to be pulled in . and what measure will you take to solve this problem.... explain to me step by step , or if you can't explain bring me one of those Pakistanis to explain
I agree its like kicking the tractor to get it started its knowing were to kick the tractor and AS FOR THE 32 NOT LIKING THE VIDIO ARE ACCOUNTANTS AND ON SITE MAINTENANCE GUYS LOL
That's a dramatic video, and I'm sure everyone living in major metropolitan areas will take it to heart. For the vast majority of us working in bedroom communities and covering a 3 county deep sphere of customers with 6 people where the median income is under 18k, I think we'll keep adjusting prices as the market can bear, rather than letting what amounts to a hype man tell us we need to demand money going to rent, food, and medicine for services that are hardly affordable as is, thanks
@@ayala193 That's very kind of you. I had no idea a stranger would offer to pay the monetary costs associated with moving itself AND be willing to supply the 1 to 3 years worth of employee salaries while we went from a deficit to profit in an entirely new market. Most appreciated.
So why aren't electronic technicians paid what they're worth most of the electronic technician jobs are paying 20 22 you're lucky to see $25 an hour why do we go to school to learn electronics we have to learn calculus electronic theory transistor theory circuit theory and we get paid 20 bucks an hour why is that electronic technicians should know that they're at least worth $25 an hour check the Bureau of labor standards technician should be making $64,000 a year and we're not and we're not because we don't stick together we need a union electronic technicians need a union we are not getting paid companies are stealing Us blind we're nothing more than nothing more than skilled assemblyman that's what they're paying us stop working for lousy 20 bucks an hour you're worth 30 or more an hour
This was over the top. Also you are wrong. You may start out book smart and know what to do. The starting pay is like 10-15 dollars. Lol. You don't get 20-30 unless you been working for 3-5 years.
I agree, but this is what they're putting in these guys heads at these trade schools and you hire them, you send them out and they can't solve a simple low voltage issue, and they want 20 an hr. It take years of being in the field before your that tech, and to make great money, you'll have to own the business.
Has nothing to do with hvac. This can be applied to any field

Great Video ! I am At that Point Now. 35 years in the Refrigeration industry doing Service.
Great video and puts the point across perfectly. This applies to all skilled trades not just HVAC
Hey Weldon - Thank you for your presentation at our Goodman meeting. All I have to say is - Right On Dude. Nice Job.
Exceptionally well produce video and great remake of the "knowing where to tap" story! Great job!
Yep, spoof of J.V. Neumann's fixing Fords dynamo. Video is laden with NLP; judging by the comments, it seems to have worked.
Wow. That was legitimately NOT clickbait... powerful lesson. Thank you! Dude probably still didn't get paid by Russia.
I love ths and it changed my life as an hvac tech!!
Great video exactly how we have felt for years.. Best way to explain great job...
Funny the valve closed on the video is a hose connection for fire fighters, on the fire sprinkler stand pipe.
My thoughts too
Wow.... could not agree more..... Great video and congrats to the editors of dramatizing it in the Right way.....
damn, give this man a standing ovation

HVAC hall of fame video !
Nice job Weldon.
Need to show this to my service manager
Well if you invoice one service call for 100000.00 dollars he might give you 25 cents more an hour, but don't count on it.
goose couple.

drag0n3y31 if you feel that way you don't belong in this trade
Jon Minnella it true though
You say that now, until you look at a carbon monoxide disaster waiting to happen. A simple service job can end up saving a whole family.
Jon Minnella Lol. You're an idiot. I am thinking of getting into the trade. I don't think I am a special snow flake because of it.

Would’ve asked for $500,000.00 that was a big risk
I am the nuclear HVAC technician 🤑🤑

You know this applies to any profession or trade. This was originally an engineers story
Network IT Professionals have the same problem. No respect. No wonder some of them end up writing viruses.
