I've played flute for the best part of 55 years at amateur level. It was always implied that if you got a piccolo it went with the flute as a doubling instrument. I could never afford the piccolo option, as I was a pianist, as first study. I first hear the piccolo being played in a series of Italian baroque pieces and realised that it was more than a "dressing" instrument. Here it is being shown to its limits, and there are a couple of realisations I became aware of: A) make a mistake and EVERYBODY hears it and B) Even when flight cased up, it will still fit in your brief case. Fab performance. And it has certainly cleared the wax from my ears.
so true, she plays very good but she is no robot and if you heard with a bit of attention you can listen to all the small mistakes she makes. I play piccolo myself in a small band and because I know my errors are VERY noticeable I just dont play if I am not sure about one part

It's the main theme in the overture La Cenerentola or Cinderella by Rossini. The overture has a brief piccolo solo towards the end.
