I guarantee my daughter could match his talent. She is amazing at the oboe and I’m not just being a proud mother. She has had professional oboe players comment on how well she plays for only being 18. The head of a well known college in our state is trying to convince her to major in oboe.

My mom played oboe for years while I was growing up. She’s still alive and well as of me writing this comment, but I know that when she eventually passes, I will always connect this song to her. She showed me and my brother the movie “the mission” when we were children and she played the solo for us once. Such a beautiful piece.

Okay I came across this video about a year ago by accident when I was doing my school homework. I was in complete shock of how beautiful and breathtaking this song was and instantly I felt a connection with it. A few weeks later I mentioned the song to my band teacher. She said she had heard of it and that it was beautiful. A few weeks after that I had a lesson with her (I play oboe myself) and she was stressing about the music selection for our concert. I (without thinking) offered the idea of performing this piece... she loved it. She told me we would perform this piece and I was over the moon exited. That was a year ago and now in three days I will be performing this beautiful work of art as an oboe soloist accompanied by my middle school band.
This song, this oboist, even the conductor and the band sparked something within me so strong I had no idea I could even feel. I love this song with all I have and I hope to do it justice on our concert.

I, like you, played oboe once when I was in middle school. However, unlike you, I didn't love the instrument, I thought it produced the most annoying sound ever... The only reason I played it in middle school was because my band teacher told me I had a talent for it. Apparently not everyone can play this instrument, let alone produce a sound from it. The reason I'm telling you this is because just recently I listened to this piece and it made me shed a couple tears. Believe me, I am not a person who cries, I usually surpress my emotions, but something unexplainable happened... Hearing the beautiful sounds of the oboe took me back. It was as if the instrument want to prove to me just how wrong I was. This is a beautiful instrument, difficult to master, yes, but just be patient. It is one that requires patience, only then can you unlock it's heavenly sounds. I regret putting the oboe down 10 years ago, I was simply a naive little boy. I can see that I'm about a month late on this reply, sorry. I hope your concert went well. Don't forget to cherish these moments and believe in your self. Don't give up on oboe as I did. Best of luck buddy. I sincerely wish you the best.

Many years ago (in 1998, I believe), I worked at the K-Mart in the small Tennessee town I lived in. I worked with one of the most fascinating (and kind) people I've ever known, a man named Wayne. He was a former concert pianist of 20-something years. He had worked at half a dozen opera houses around the world over his career. We talked about music in many, if not most of our conversations. At the end of that year, he gave me a Christmas present of a handful of CDs of his favorite recordings of much of the music he had shared with me.
My one significant contribution to our many discussions of classical music, was when I told him about how "Gabriel's Oboe" was one of the most beautiful pieces of music that I'd ever heard. His response was to gently correct my pronunciation of "Ennio Morricone," and to tell me that he was in a New York bar one evening, many years earlier, talking music through the night with Mr. Morricone.
I'll never forget the year I spent having those many conversations with a man named Wayne.

Had to come here after I heard of Ennio Morricone’s passing. I hope heaven sounds just like the beautiful music he has composed for “The Mission”.

Every single person I've watched play this song, including this lovely oboe player, looks like it makes them want to weep. Having played it for the first time today, I completely understand. I sat and listened to it for the first time with my mouth hanging open and with tears running down my face before I even realized they were falling. Rest in peace, Maestro. You live forever by giving this gift to humanity.

When pure unrefined passion, a masterful script and the skill to portrait this respectfully, combine themselves, the result is an immaculate work of art that brings tears to my eyes for literally every time I hear it. One of the greatest pieces ever written. God bless Ennio Morricone (may he rest in peace) and Henrik Chaim Goldschmidt for the magic they have conjured.

I did not know, before today, it was possible to get this much emotion from an oboe. I can't describe how it made me feel other than it brought me to tears.

This is the best classic music I have ever heard. The person playing this music is Henrik H. Goldschmidt whom I have to pay a big respect for his kindness. I will never forget the day he dedicated me one of his best album. A lot of thanks Henrik for your generosity. Your generosity will never be. forgotten.
I am sending my best greetings to you from Morocco.

Henrik, this is the most beautiful version of Gabriel's Oboe I have heard. Thank you so much for the opportunity to hear this. It is even more evocative today, as we mourn the loss of the incredible Ennio Morricone. Rest in peace, Il Maestro.

I think Mr Ennio Morricone must have experienced something supernatural, divine, when he started composing this beautiful and unique piece of music. It's so special! Each time I hear it, it brings tears to my eyes, not of sadness, but of something so special that I cannot describe it. God bless him.

+j parks The Church is not evil. We humans are the ones who let evil work within us if we let it. Are you perfect? Have you never committed any simple errors deliberately knowing that you could make a better choice, even if you knew it for a second? Have you ever experienced joy when someone forgave you for something?
I am glad to know that even with my imperfections I am called to convert and become a better person, a better Christian every day. Because of the mercy that I know has been granted to me, then I can be merciful towards others.
If you really saw the movie, you would see it portraits reality as it was... with it's good side and bad side and how wonderful it was that many Jesuits gave their lives to protect the indigenous people of that region, how they respected their believes, how they respected each other. I would invite you to see the movie with an open heart and mind.
Anyway, music is a gift and, indeed, beautiful when that talent is well used. Take care and happy new year 2016. :-)

mr. parks im an agnostic but i have to disagree with you the roman catholics and jesuits have done a lot of good things but its not pure because it has humans behind it. there are no such things as evil unless one human has no intention of being good .
