Great song from a really underrated band, I saw them in 1973 and they blew the roof off the hall. Try another great banger from them, Easy Living was a big hit and driving rock song, they were dope in the 70s. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Saw them in 1975 (?) at a World Series of Rock in Cleveland (with Rod Stewart, Aerosmith, Blue Oyster Cult, and Mahogany Rush). Yes, you read that lineup correctly!
Finally someone dares to react to Uriah Heep. Along with Deep Purple, this was the only band I bought all of their albums from and listened to endlessly. It's very difficult for me to decide on a favorite track, but I'll pick the songs "The Park" and "Sunrise".
I must say that I am completely impressed with the different styles of music you are willing to listen to. I've always said that if I ever owned a music store, I wouldn't divide it into "styles" of music. I would sort everything from A to Z and leave it at that. Musical narrow-mindedness is a terrible thing. Thank you for not being that ! ❤
OMG, I about sh!t when i saw you reacted to this. I love love love Uriah Heep!!! They were 1 of the first groups i saw live & they did not disappoint. Nice one, guys!!! I was happy to see you enjoy it as much as i always have. It's a Banger for sure. ❤
I appreciate what your parents did for you. I'm trying to do the same thing for my granddaughters, four of them in total. Because they lost their mother and grandmother I'm attempting to fill some of the holes that they left behind. Peace 💚
The epic July Morning is a must hear. Everything that makes Uriah Heep special is in that song, and David Byron turns in a fantastic vocal performance. One of his best.
They were there with Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin & Black Sabbath! Maybe just one tier lower, but definitely about as influential. So glade you're reacting to them! "Easy Livin" is another Banger! They just released their 25th album just a few months ago, and they still have it!
Thank you! It warms my heart when people actually keep updated about the bands they claim to like, as opposed to be completely in the dark about anything that band has been doing for the last 30-40 years. As a longtime Uriah Heep fan, who make sure to always keep myself in the loop, I can only say: that's the spirit. And yeah, they are the fourth of the Big 4 too, that part is also correct.
I would say they were on an equal tier with Purple. Ahead of Sabbath, but behind Zeppelin. Heep never did get the airplay in North America that the other three did. And after losing members of their classic line-up they continued to create great music.
An incredibly talented band. All their albums with David Byron are the stuff of legend. David’s voice is extra special. Even their stuff without him is awesome. A few years back they came out with an album called Wake The Sleeper that is stellar.
I know Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Black Sabbath are generally referred to as the 'holy trinity of '70s hard rock,' but I'd personally swap out Sabbath for Heep. Sabbath is a little too 'metal' for me, whereas the other 3 bands at least had some slight prog rock leanings to them, which made them more interesting to my ears.
Ken Hensley (Hammond organ, guitar, killer vocal in his own right and primary songwriter for Uriah Heep) left us in 2020. He is cranking that Hammond (into a Marshall Stack) in the back. What a sound! Thanks Ken.
I had a bit of contact with Ken Hensley back in 2012, we emailed for a while about a work project. Nice guy, easy-going and humble (he thought it was funny when I got his surname wrong in my initial email!).
Loved your reaction to this old guy's favorite band. The deeper you venture down the Uriah Heep rabbit hole the deeper you will want to go. Saw them live in the late 70s and my ears rang for days. VERY underrated band.
When Uriah Heep first came out their very name oozed pure coolness. And they backed it up right out of the gate with hard rockin' quality sounds. Voices, harmonies, and killer instrumentals pumping out great tunes put them squarely on the map. Great reaction guys!! Thank you! :)
Glad to see you enjoy one of the most underrated rock bands of all time. There have been so many generations of this band with numerous line-ups and lead vocalists that have all excelled at what they do. While many of the founding band members have passed on luckily Mick Box is still here and still going strong. His version of the band is still touring and still has the feel the band was known for from the beginning. It's hard to believe (but not a bad thing i any way) that the band is still going strong after 54 years non-stop. Others have suggested Easy Livin' of which I couldn't agree more but I'll also add Look at Yourself, Salisbury, Rainbow Demon, Fallen Angel, Traveller in Time or Gypsy.
So many great songs by Uriah Heep from which to choose. They were my first "favorite" band, having been introduced to them by my oldest brother with their song "Lady in Black," a gentle, poignant tune. But if you want some more of their hard-rocking numbers, might I recommend the following: Easy Livin', Gypsy, Look at Yourself and July Morning, with some fabulous synth work by Ken Hensley. And if you're feeling adventurous, you might want to give a listen to the band's 16-minute opus, "Salisbury." This is truly a great rock and roll band that strangely flew mostly under the radar here in America, more's the pity.
Uriah Heep are a criminally under rated band. They have so many great songs. I am not sure if you know this but the drummer, Lee Kerslake, played all of the drums on the first two Ozzy Osbourne albums, though Tommy Aldridge is shown on the album covers and credited with playing the drums on them. Guitarist Mick Box was the only constant member of Uriah Heep with various members rotating in and out of the band through the years. They made a live DVD in 2002 called The Magician's Birthday Party which you should check out. Many of the essential members of the band united and put on one hell of a show. I was most enthralled to see Ken Hensley return to lay down his incredible Hammond organ work as well as playing some lead guitar and vocals. Ken was so multi talented but sadly has passed away a few years ago, as have several other members including their original singer David Byron, drummer Lee Kerslake, bassist Trevor Bolder, and a few other band members. May they live on through the music that they created!
"Lady In Black" is my favorite UH song, but they had so many other great ones, "Sunrise", "The Magician's Birthday", "Easy Living", "Sweet Lorraine" and two slower ballads, "Rain" and "Tales". Such a great band!
Hard to believe that it's over 50 years old! So glad the Young Ones are finally realizing what great music sounds like. Listen to every Heep song you can find, you will LOVE them all.
You should do "Paradise/The Spell" from the "Demons & Wizards" album. The same album "The Wizard" is from. Another really great Uriah Heep song that doesn't get enough love is "Tears In My Eyes" It has some fantastic slide guitar riffs in it. "Easy Livin'" is their biggest hit song. When it was first released in the 70s, you couldn't turn on the radio without hearing it they played it so much on the FM rock stations.
Gary Thain was one of the reasons i started playing bass. "Easy Livin" will give your fingers a workout. And Mick Box has one of the best guitar solos i have ever heard. Listen to "Come Away Melinda" for a dreamy song with a story or "Bird Of Prey".
10+ minutes long. I beg for it every chance i get…but I'm still waiting on "When The Music's Over" and "And You And I" and many other songs that go that long, too. (We are never getting "Inna-Gadda-Da-Vida" here, I'm afraid. Much less the Jefferson Airplane version of "Wooden Ships" from Woodstock or so many others. Alas.)
My favorite Heep song. Also checkout Easy Living and July Morning. A little music trivia. The name Uriah Heep came from the Charles Dickens novel David Copperfield.
YAY!!! Finally!!! Reacters have finally discovered Uriah Heep!!! One of the greatest bands in the world. Heep's material is full of those "booms." They can rock the house down one minute and melt you with beauty the next. Check out their July Morning. It has it all.
I knew you guys would love this one. From the opening bass line to the building organ to David Byron's vocals, then everyone full out rocking it is right up your alley. Looking forward to you reacting to more Heep. Easy Livin' is an easy one to follow, but the Demons And Wizards and The Magician's Birthday are concept albums so you should do Traveller In Time next. Sunrise and Sweet Lorraine are standouts from The Magician's Birthday. Sweet Freedom and Seven Stars are good choices from this album. For earlier songs check out Gypsy and July Morning. Enjoy!
Driving with all the windows down north on Woodward Avenue on a soft summer night with Uriah Heep? Nothing like it before *or* since. :) Great memories.
They were the very first band that I seen in concert. I went to see Rush and Uriah Heep were the warm up band. At that time I had never heard of them but I was not disappointed.
Such a great song, David Byron's voice is so good on there. The whole band kills. I'm so glad you are diving into the Uriah Heep catalog. I was lucky enough to see that classic line up or Byron, Mick Box on guitar, Ken Hensley on keyboards & guitar, Gary Thain on bass & Lee Kerslake on drums on their Wonderworld tour in 1974. Also on the bill was Manfred Mann's Earth Band as the middle act & opening the show was a little three piece band called Rush. It was Neil Peart's first show in the US. What a fantastic show. So lots to get into for Uriah Heep. Easy Livin' Sweet Lorraine Circle Of Hands Sunrise Gypsy Rainbow Demon Look At Yourself There's plenty more to guys, enjoy, i know i will.
And don't forget their classic July Morning, Pilgrim,Birds of Prey, Walking in your Shadow,Dreamare,The Wizard, Echoes in the dark,Rain there are so many. URIAH HEEP simply LEGENDS😢
So glad to see young people discovering these great bands. Uriah Heep is one of the best of the 70's. So thankful this music was the music of my childhood. For your Uriah Heep rabbit hole, check out Sunrise, Beautiful Dream, Easy Living, or Return to Fantasy. Amazing music. Keep digging in. I love your channel!
Check out Easy Livin' July Morning, Gypsy (full version), Look at Yourself, Salisbury, High Priestess, Dreamare, ... they have many many great tracks. All their albums up until Return to Fantasy are superb.
Thank you guys!! Thanks for checking out more of this awesome band!! You will NOT be disappointed with "Bird Of Prey", "Tears In My Eyes", "July Morning", "Suicidal Man", "Beautiful Dream", "One Way Or Another". That's just to get started.
I LOVE Uriah Heep! Saw them 4 times in concert (just could not get enough). They are great performers! Lady in Black is probably my favorite song of theirs, but I pretty much love all their songs.
First there was Uriah Heep…then there was Queen! For me, the two best vocal bands of the Seventies! Uriah Heep is the most underrated band of all time. Sill kicking today with the one surviving original member! Two songs as varied as the first two you reacted July Morning and Lady in Black. Easy Living was their biggest hit in the states, Lady in Black in Europe.
During the first half of the 70's, some people used to say: "If you like music, you gotta love UK". There were some magic moments during this era: Hard-Rock bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Uriah Heep were at their prime; David Bowie created a lot of fantastic stuff, Prog Rock bands like Yes, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Gentle Giant made History and Glam-Rock acts like T-Rex, Sweet, Slade, Mott The Hoople had a lot of hits that became timeless anthems. People who witnessed all of this during this era are really lucky.
Heep!!! As many will tell you, they are very under rated. I love this song, the lyrics have so much depth.. "I stood on a ridge and shunned religion, Thinking the world was mine, I made my break and a big mistake, stealin' when I should have been buyin'" Great songs by them "Sweet Loarrain", "Lady in Black" and of course "EASY LIVIN" I am a big fan of their rocking side, but an awesomly beautiful song is RAIN.
Loved your reaction! I like how into it you were and closely y'all pay attention -- so good. Heep were my 2nd favorite band growing up, ahead of even Zeppelin. As you may suspect they have a lot of very good songs. Lots of variety too, as you already commented on, between The Wizard and this. Hard to say exactly what to do next but I'll give some suggestions. In no particular order. If you want long, epic tunes the 3 to go to are "Salisbury", "July Morning" and "Magician's Birthday". Others (I'm tempted to name about 20, lol) : "Easy Livin' "-- which along with "Stealin" were their 2 biggest songs; "Look at Yourself", "Sunrise" off of "Uriah Heep Live "(1973), "Bird of Prey"; and a few personal favorites that aren't nearly as well known: "Beautiful Dream", "Footprints in the Snow", "Time to Live", "The Park", "A Year or a Day", "Traveler in Time", "Simon the Bullet Freak", "One Way or Another". And that's just with this singer. In 1977 they got a new singer and put out more good music, but I figure that can wait.... Love your channel! Fellow Bengals fan here (Cincinnatian) 😊
Uriah Heep was one of my favorite bands growing up as a kid. When you recently reviewed them, I went back to my Albums and listen to them again. For a different sound from them you should check out "Lady in Black" Jay will love the base. They have so many good songs.
Uriah Heep in their prime, they were my first ever gig in the late 70s..Newcastle City Hall..nearly 50 years ago and I still listen to their albums. So many great tracks this band have produced..Ken Hensley being the main driving force,RIP
Thanks y'all.. Really Nice oneThis British rock band is named after the character Uriah Heep, a fictional character created by Charles Dickens in his 1850 novel David Copperfield. Heep is the primary antagonist during the second part of the novel.✌ ✅As @flamesCagney pointed out, y'all should react to "Easy Livin' " as your next Uriah Heep selection-- A Banger
One thing I always remember about UH was when their Abominog album came out they advertised it on the local radio station as "Rock-n-Roll to peel the paint off the walls"... 😁 That became my motto for how loud I liked to listen to my rock/metal music...
Heep are primarily hard progressive Album Oriented Rock and wanted their LPs to speak for themselves rather than be marketed as an overly commercial AM radio pop hits act. They did have around a dozen hit singles ("Stealin'" among those) outside the states. The particular album this song is from, "Sweet Freedom", has sold over 6 million copies.
Saw them open the show with this number in 1974, Gary Thain (one the the best bass players ever) with short hair due to being electrocuted on stage less than a month earlier (in Houston I believe). Sadly he was not with us much longer, and indeed all of the band playing on this track are now dead, expect for the founder Mick Box (possibly the nicest person in rock). He still tours with Uriah Heep, and they released their 25th studio album, Chaos and Colour, early this year. 2 members of the current line up have been with Heep since about 1989, one joined in 2008 (to replace Lee Kerslake, the drummer who played on Stealin', but had to retire due to ill health), and one in 2014 (I think) to replace Trevor Bolder (bassist from Spiders from Mars - David Bowie, and with Heep since 1976) who again had poor health. The current band can still rock with the best (saw them in October last year), and Stealin' is a staple of their shows. I regard this as the first 'modern' rock song, and indeed many bands (e.g. Areosmith, Queen) cite Heep as an influence. Many will suggest classic songs such as July Morning, Easy, Livin' (try something from their Live 1973 album), but their later tracks (e.g. Overload, What Kind of God, Take Away My Soul) are great as well.
As usual great reaction guys, you are truly amazing and we love you. "Easy Livin" is another rockin tune by these guys! Thanks again for all that you do for bringing back some amazing tunes!
@@teerat8451 cool, I just thought it was odd that I saw the same tour in Dayton, Ohio. And it was a former member of Uriah Heep that was the opening act. I've lost too many brain cells to remember if it was earlier in 83 or in early 84 when I saw them. I'm thinking it might have been earlier because Mark Storachi tells a story of how they got kicked off the Tour.
I was a teenager in the 70's and loved music as I still do. But I never really got into this band for some unknown reason. I knew the radio hit of Easy Living and really liked it but never went further. Wow did I miss out . Thank you for teaching me what I missed out on.
Heep had magical block and step harmonies. David byron was a great front man, and had a 4 octave high range, he sang with great dynamic and tone to his voice..🎶👍🎵
Uriah Heep should be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.
Uriah Heep and Grand Funk Railroad. That they aren't tells all you need to know about the Hall. It is a joke.

David Byron....a sorely underrated and nearly forgotten vocalist. Killer range. He died too young .

"easy livin'" is a banger from them
Agree ----- great reaction choice.
Absolutely worthy of a reaction vid

I loved how they often began their concert with Easy Living it really got the show rolling!
“July Morning” is probably my favorite. From the peak of their musical talents
Mine also as well as look at yourself
I have always been partial to Sweet Lorraine. All good stuff.
They put out so many albums! Some fairly mediocre, others are slam off the hook! When they made a great album, it was a great album!
Finally someone dares to react to Uriah Heep. Along with Deep Purple, this was the only band I bought all of their albums from and listened to endlessly. It's very difficult for me to decide on a favorite track, but I'll pick the songs "The Park" and "Sunrise".

Enjoy!
Gypsy and July Morning are must listens if you're diving deeper into Uriah Heep.
Driving with all the windows down north on Woodward Avenue on a soft summer night with Uriah Heep? Nothing like it before *or* since. :) Great memories.
Many say most underrated band ever...I agree!!
Easy Livin'
Sweet Lorraine
Circle Of Hands
Sunrise
Gypsy
Rainbow Demon
Look At Yourself
There's plenty more to guys, enjoy, i know i will.
Jeez, what a show....where was that?
This song just purely Rocks...and you know this man!
What a great great overlooked band.
Another banger from a couple of years earlier is 'Mississippi Queen' by Mountain
YEEEAAHH!!!! Thank you! This made me happy on the train. Check out ‘Look At Yourself’, ‘Sunrise’, ‘Easy Livin’, ‘Sweet Lorraine’!
NOW YOU'RE TALKIN SOME HARD HITTING ROCK WITH THE LATE GREAT VOICE OF DAVID BYRON!!! GREAT BAND!!! To me, they lost something without David.
Yeah, your gonna like this one! A banger for sure! "Easy Livin'" should be your next EH song! th-cam.com/video/1fbY3UzP_Nc/w-d-xo.html
But eewwww, the original _*please. *_
When you get around to featuring this band agin play 'Easy Living'. Very good, also look into 'Tell Mama' by Savoy Brown.
Always loved Uriah Heep
Great react to a great group! Check out 'Easy Livin' next. You'll love it! Love you guys!!
Jay, "Suicidal Man" is a must if you want some INCREDIBLE bass work.
One of those influential bands that are often forgotten. Great stuff!
Easy Livin’ is a great one. Really rockin’!
Lady in Black is my Favorite. love the acoustic guitar
Heep!!! As many will tell you, they are very under rated. I love this song, the lyrics have so much depth.. "I stood on a ridge and shunned religion, Thinking the world was mine, I made my break and a big mistake, stealin' when I should have been buyin'"
Great songs by them "Sweet Loarrain", "Lady in Black" and of course "EASY LIVIN"
I am a big fan of their rocking side, but an awesomly beautiful song is RAIN.
" Abominog " is an Excellent album , highly recommend a listen to " That's The Way That It Is "
Loved your reaction!
"One Way Or Another" is 11 out of 10 on the rockin' scale!!
@@TigerRogers0660 👊 Good call, love the production on that album, and on this song great *heavy* bass and an outstanding John Wetton vocal!
Heep is the primary antagonist during the second part of the novel.✌
✅As @flamesCagney pointed out, y'all should react to "Easy Livin' " as your next Uriah Heep selection-- A Banger
Bravo, this is still on their playlist to this day. I have soo many favourites right up to their 2023 album Colour and Chaos.
One thing I always remember about UH was when their Abominog album came out they advertised it on the local radio station as "Rock-n-Roll to peel the paint off the walls"... 😁 That became my motto for how loud I liked to listen to my rock/metal music...
Easy Living, Sweet Lorraine... and you absolutely have to listen to their Rock'n'Roll Medley.
LADY IN BLACK, A MUST
The only song I remember hearing on the radio in the US by them was "Easy Livin'" from 1972, their only US hit.
@@bookhouseboy280and is 50 years old this year .
One of my all time favorite songs. Very cool. Jammed on this in elementary school back in the early seventies.
You found the "Heep", yea! They SHOULD be in the hall of fame!
A drastically underrated & overlooked band.
I saw Uriah Heep in the 80's when they toured with Def Leppard on their Pyromania Tour. Amazing concert.
Are you sure it wasn't Gary Moore? He was on his end of the world tour. The bill I saw was Gary Moore, Krokus, and Def Leppard
@@ralphpeck6927 It was Uriah Heep two nights in a row, August of 1983. I went to both sold out shows in Omaha, NE.
Try "Easy Livin'", "Gypsy", or for a more acoustic song, "Lady in Black".
