    The steel nib is a surprisingly smooth writer. No line variation but a little bounce to it. All in all this is a very nice pen (I too have it in red with the small ink windows).

    Hi Chris! Thank you for another great review and the attention you paid to comparing the two nibs. Very important now that another brand has decided to create this formidable #8 nib. I don't think Hong Dian will stand by. These large nibs create a new arrangement of the hand posture, very interesting, they open a new frontier for collectors and enthusiasts.

    • @chrisrap52
      @chrisrap52  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Wingsung #8 is much better than Jinhao but also cost more. This is much closer the western #8s while Jinhao has a more Eastern #8. I too wonder what Hongdian & Majohn will do.

      @@chrisrap52 Completely agree. For Europe in Ali Express the Wing Sung 630 with steel nib costs 40 euros including shipping with tracking, I think a bit excessive. If you bought the fountain pen for $30 total I think it's a better buy and well done.

    Hi Chris, Just received the Wingsung 630.
    As promised I am letting you know of my opinion on the fine nib.
    I only managed to get a fine nib but I am feeling very satisfied with its writing width and performance. It is smooth and has no skips. Its a very well made pen, I am impressed.
    It would be nice however, at a later date, if the nibs could be purchased separately and can be fitted to the pen.
    Many thanks for your input and advice 😀👍

    I can confirm that you made the good choice :) The gold nib is scratchy and not very pleasant to write with. On the other hand, the steel nib is much nicer. However, in my experience, the 9019 EF nib definitely outperforms the Wingsung by a good margin :) Cheers!

      @@chrisrap52 And I ordered the pen and just received it! Great pen, the nib is semi-flex or soft nib, but just a tiny bit. Not as much as the nib of the Diplomat Magnum, but, being bigger, it "springs" over the same width, if that makes sense!

    Is the flat top version closer in size to the MB 146? It’s not only shorter than 149, but less girth as well. I suspect it’s very close to 146 proportions than 149.

    • @chrisrap52

      I'd say no. I'm not going to try & swap them. Love the nib in the 630.

    • @soloraceschannel
      @soloraceschannel ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No. Feed of 630 is essentially self-designed, although it burrowed some elements from MB 149. Feed of x159 is modified from MB 149 to make it fit a cartridge converter system.

    Good review on what looks and writes like a good pen. Does this model have one of those internal shut-off mechanisms inside, so it only releases ink from a small part of the barrel and it's necessary to do acrobatics for more ink to get to the nib? And what's your suggestion for cleaning this big boy? Thanks for another complete and honest evaluation.

    • @chrisrap52
      @chrisrap52  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      This is a piston filler, no shut-off valve. I'd remove nib & use a syringe to flush out barrel. I showed this in the P36 review.

    I have this pen on the way, same colour, M nib. It looks like they have tried to make a nib same size as the pen they try to immitate, lol.

    • @chrisrap52

    I got the 630 with the gold nib for my birthday. I have to say it is a surprisingly responsive nib and writes very smoothly.
    I did pull out the nib and feed. It was a chore, especially trying to put it back into the assembly. How did you flush it? I do not intend to pull the nib and feed again
    I do not know how it would compare to the German pen, but for the money, it is a great pen. It is a very comfortable pen and one I would use for longer sessions. If there was any complaint it would be the nibs dries out very quickly when not in use. Maybe it is the ink I am using.
    I would recommend this pen with the gold nib.
    I have the 629 with the steel nib and enjoy its performance. Nothing wrong with their steel nibs.
    Great review, Chris.

    Agree with you that it doesn't really matter whether the pen's a duplicate of something hundreds of times its price! Thanks for that alone. I feel validated. Also, I have a question about a Luoshi pen that I ordered from Temu. It wasnot even mentioned as being that brand on the website and came with two plastic items which have mystified me. I think that one is for keeping the two extra nibs that came along with it, but the other item is a plastic oval, about 2 inches, long with a hole in the middle. ?? Might you have any idea what it is? Thank you again.
