    have a 12 year old a4 b9 2l diesel , serviced regularly , 290000 km on it and never let us down. If you buy a new one halve the reccommended oil change time and you have a good chance at longevity IMHO , and that goes for all makes. Great vid thomas!

    I've been really looking forward to more videos on your A6 C7 3.0 TFSI! I'm picking up mine on Monday-same model, also from Japan. It’s already had some key maintenance done: gearbox (both filters), oil, and plugs changed. Super excited to see it in person for the first time! I too have a previous Audi A6 C6 2.7 Tdi (not an allroad) Le Mans. did 100k in that car over the last 11 years. Loads of people want that car and are willing to come and see the car at night.... literally falling over themselves to buy it (makes me nervous)

    I change my oil on my RS6 C7 every 3-4000 miles, changes late autumn and early spring so the winter cold is always on fresh oil and then same for the summer heat… I am surprised how dark it comes out. I am gently on the car, always up to temp (oil) before using the performance and allow it to run on (cool down) before switching off. Just shows the factory service interval is way to long, even halving it is too much. I have done 10 oil changes and 3 flushes and oil still comes out dark.

    • @Mac_F87
      @Mac_F87 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Dark oil doesn’t mean much. Oil will change colour due to heat and suspending particles it picks up from the likes of combustion gas blow by. The fact it’s dark means the detergent package in the oil is doing its job. Modern oils can more than handle changing oil at half the manufacturers recommended interval.

    Question from Canada: The dealership changed the long block on my 2018 S5 3.0t, supposed to be a new engine from Germany (with new rockers).
    I changed the oil after 5k km, and there were sparkles in it, and 1/5 times I start the car, once the rpm goes down, in park, I hear the clack clack clack.
    I got no check engine lights, no nothing, car runs great. Should I be worried?

  • @carYouTubefdaf

    I had issue with customers S5 B9, oil filler cap would come off by itself and car would go limp mode and spill oil everywhere. Also the gasket on the oil filler/PCV valve failed. I started by changing this seal and oil filler cap. It did not fix. The gasket leak was fixed but the oil cap came off on its own.
    Solution: Breather pipe had to be replaced, about £70 from TPS. Weird problem but once replaced it was fully fixed!

    Did the owner purchase this failed Audi v6 from a dealer or a private punter? How many miles? Unfortunately too many buyers go on level of polish at time of purchase as opposed to understanding the likelihood of buying into a high risk variant of a specific car from a specific brand. Given the level of interference within the engine bay and the other issues with suspension the owner needs to take action against the seller.

    I had a mini specialist try and fix a gen 2 mini - they were clueless, cost me £1300 and in the end I fixed the engine. Required re-ringing to sort excessive oil consumption and new valve seat, lose in the head. Both of these issues are common faults for the Prince engine. So.. how come a garage in business for 10 years not know the common faults with an engine used in a brand they suggest they are specialist for? Translate my experience into the wider context we can see what's going on here.

    all cars are only as good as the maintenance u give it. Take care of the car, it will take care of u. Simple. You can't have a champagne car and try and service it with beer money; it won't work. Get people/ mechanics that know what they're doing. Also, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. If something isn't right, say so. Don't put up with it. I've had 3x A3 Black editions, an A5 TDI Black edition, and RS5, and S4. The cars I've had have all been regularly serviced. In Covid the S4 I serviced as much as I could, but got VAG Technic to take care of things that require a ramp and specialist tools. Sterling job done and been there TWICE and I live near Stevenage!!! Can't sing the praises of VAG Technic enough. It's not the cars are crap, the maintenance of them is crap. Proper servicing means a smooth running car. Leave it too long and you'll pay a heavier price than if u got the work done properly in the first place.

    I feel for the guy but question his sanity buying one of these cars of this age and mileage in the first place, especially if he is a subscriber to your channel and has seen these car issues up close. As a subscriber, I wouldn’t touch another Audi as long as I live. Good lesson, thank you.

      @@blade643I think these cars are a marvel of engineering and fantastic to drive. They are great while under warranty or if you have the funds for the engine maintenance. I think this situation could have been foreseen. Being a retired automotive technician doesn’t help me. The situation is the same for all complex performance cars.

      B8.5 RS5 vs. B8.5 S5? RS5 for sure. If you're looking at a B9 S5, I'd avoid the 2017-2018 models. Look for a build date in the late 2018's or later (if it's a early 2019 model). Find one with a good service history.

    • @mobilrz
      @mobilrz 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The history of the car is absolute key. If this was on a long-service regime from new, then that's a worry, potentially up to 18k miles between oil changes. If it's since been round the Nurburgring a few times, modified in any way. Simple case of reject and get money back.

    • @jdm2gdm
      @jdm2gdm 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      2017-2018 models have poorly designed rocker arms (small needle bearings). Poor maintenance will make this problem get worse at an accelerated rate. Audi should be recalling the 2017-2017 S4/S5/RS4/RS5 worldwide for this problem.
      Now before the Toyota fanbois get all excited, Toyota/Lexus new V6 engines were grenading themselves. Product errors/poor parts happen to everyone.
