    I can see the argument for getting rid of men's physique, especially at the high levels where their just genetic freaks, but for someone like me who does local physique shows I couldn't do classic physique as my calves would literally destroy me on stage. Genetically, me and my family are f'd in the department with terrible insertions. I've worked my balls off trying to bring them up to the rest of my body and just can't. Physique gives me the opportunity to do what I love, get on stage and be competitive. People don't have to agree with this, but just giving my feedback.

    This is a conversation that so many people need to hear. You see so often in comment sections, "(insert IPF champion here) is showing us what the natty limit really is." If every natty had that limit, there wouldn't be a champion. It's always been such a weird thing to me to assign everyone into labels that supposedly dictate everything about them.

    I also miss the aesthetics of Arnold and company where seeing them you went "wow, I sort of would like to look like that, like idealized statue of human" instead of "whoaaa what the hell is that secret military test monster and why hasn't anyone captured it yet?" But I see the appeal of dedicated people doing it for sport and trying to reach further and further in some measurable markers.
    And I'm super on board with Dr. Mike saying how his work is much more valuable when he educates people rather than chases quick internet popularity via trendy social media clout. And I've seen pretty much "all" he can offer for a casual lifter who focuses a bit more on something other than bodybuilding, he's made such great full coverage playlists on all perspectives to training, but I still watch all his videos just to hear what funny things he has to say this week, even if I've seen the topic multiple times already. I'm in need of those moral "role model" people in my life these days, people who do what they believe is what a good and beneficial person should do instead of quick and cheap payoff, when everyone seems to be succumbing to light-hearted happy go lucky, being an ass and acting like they have adhd, trying to bring zero more value to others, and I'm in for the long game with people and things and kinda want to get down to details rather than drop the topic in the next sentence.
    Respect to Steve for not blinking an eye when Mike said "Steve, you're not a natty..." But the thing is, we mere mortals who might be below average just have to believe in that we can make it to the top, because no amount of belief that you aren't gonna be even average will carry you to your best potential. Like studying and believing in the claim that almost everyone gets a job even during the school, then after school nobody hiring you because you don't have job experience and every single trainee position gets hundreds of applicants and there's just a couple anyway, you can't just give up and think that if there's hundreds of people, there's probably at least half that are better than you and probably have some experience too so it's useless to try to become that one person to be hired. It's the tragic way of life. You just have to believe that you can become the best even if you're at the bottom of the barrel, because you don't get anything if you believe that you're gonna be left empty handed despite your best attempts. Also when you go to people and you're serious about being dedicated to your goal, you don't go underselling your goals so that they maybe go easy with you since you just want to improve and spend more time with your goal than you could, you tell them you want the impossible so they actually put you to test and see how far you can go. Of course you don't tell THEM that you can be anything you want, that's a hard dream to be killed and like Mike said, can create hell of a setback and loss of confidence.
    2 years ago there was actually a great Veritasium episode on luck vs hard work and how there's so many people who have the potential and who did the work, but only very few of those got lucky to be the chosen one, and the ones chosen always exaggerate their work over the luck that was involved. Like people who find a partner early and happen to stick together or people who get hired early, they can't understand how hard it is if you don't get hired early or can't find a partner early/didn't stick together. But it's stacking odds. The more success you get, the more opportunities you get. Which is maybe unfair but rational.

  • @Postermaestro
    @Postermaestro ปีที่แล้ว +1

    52:50 Nah I think if you're using drugs to compete against other dudes that use drugs that's all good. If you're using drugs to look like a natty but without the effort, I think you're just a cheat. Your physique is a token of the consistency, dedication and discipline imo.

      Didn't he do a small cycle?

    • @ReviveStronger
      @ReviveStronger  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lol no, but because that comment came from some place, let me explain. I suffered a bad head injury, one of the consequences of that was a damaged pituitary gland & I got gyno due to very low test levels. To get rid of the gyno & to get me back to healthy levels I was prescribed TRT as a gel which I rubbed into my chest. Thankfully after a number of months I was able to come off it & sustain normal test levels. So I think it's a bit silly to call it a cycle, since it was only ever prescribed for my health, which was now over a decade ago. - Steve

    I think Ray Williams is natural too. He has insane leg strength. I do think certain African groups like certain Scandinavian groups have insane genetics for strength and muscular development. The distribution of extreme genetics occurs within various groups, but some groups are more specialized than others. The current racial designations are far too narrow and skin color is a narrow way to define people that isn't accurate. Kenyans and Ethiopians don't have a great distribution for strength and muscular development like Nigerians or other West African groups, but have incredible endurance athletes. Very few European groups have the genetics of the Germanic and Scandinavian people for strength and muscular development and their genes are spread across wide swaths of Europe into Scotland and England. Human ethnicity is interesting when you dig deeper than the surface level we are taught. I know Mike probably knows this, but simplifies his answers for common use as we all must do to because of the narrow definitions we use currently.
