    It’s crazy how people can become so laser focused on a goal that they start to bend all of their own rules that they have for everyone else when it comes to themselves. It was odd listening to mike saying all of the things that he screwed up during his prep because I’ve seen so many of his videos where he literally gives the exact opposite advice. Obviously we’re all guilty of doing this at some point; ignoring our better judgement and thinking doing more is better. Hopefully his and Jared’s next preps are better after learning some lessons this go around

    Dr. Mike is such a sage. I'm not even a bodybuilder--in fact, I have a confession to make: I'm a runner. And I have a tough race coming up. Dr. Mike's advice is so universal, and so sound, though, that I'm keeping it in my pocket should my race not turn out as planned. Whether I'll need it or not, he's giving me a roadmap for bouncing back smarter, and I thank him for it. You, too, Steve! Love what you guys do!🤗🦾

    I have the same mentality. I did my first show at 39 years old in august of 2022. I was so laser focused on being shredded out of my mind that i couldn't mentally grasp allowing myself a refeed day or two here and there until I just had to because my fatigue was so high and i was going hypoglycemic because food was so low. Ive learned so much since that i cant wait to prep in 2025 with some different strategies.

    Related to this one a lot. It's tough putting yourself out there on social media. Even those trying to be helpful just often...aren't. I think I can count on one hand the number of times I've gotten an actually useful comment. Often they're things you thought of and tried already or just so simplistic that's it's almost insulting. Oh, so I should focus on pullups to develop my back? Thanks so much. Let me research this new exercise, I'm excited to get started.
    I don't give unsolicited advice. Seeing a tiny snapshot of the reality of someone's training just isn't enough to really provide feedback. Unless asked, I think it's best to probably just not give criticism because the odds of it actually being insightful and useful is incredibly low.
    Then, of course, are the actual haters, which are in some ways easier to deal with!

    • @MirNovichok
      @MirNovichok ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "I think it's best to probably just not give criticism"
      Most content creators have dabbled a lot in that genre of videos, including Israetel so it's a big difficult to really abide by that. Obviously, it'd be better if everyone was more measured in their criticism.
      Mike's diet and training going wrong has been signalled by many well-credentialed people for quite some time now, including IFBB pros and Lyle McDonald.

      I think it depends on what you are training to failure. And technical failure on compounds is taxing as hell. .75% bodyweight per week of fat loss has been shown as an upper limit for fat loss rate for most athletic individuals. You would want to lower that to .5% of BW when you are really lean. If your fat you can get away with more. Beyond that you are usually just losing muscle. You can't rush fat loss

    would you say you can still run minicuts as aggressive as normal? or will you slightly tweak how you do them moving forward. ex let's say you're 200lbs and shoot for a daily deficit of 1000kcal on a minicut, learning from this interview would you potentially now only target a 750kcal deficit or since the minicuts are over so quickly do you think it's fine doing them as you have been? Curious because I have a minicut coming up in about another month or so and was wondering if i should still target that 1% rol or base my defecit on a 0.75% rol this time.

    • @TheNietzschian
      @TheNietzschian ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think prep rules for fat loss apply to minicuts.
      1. Minicuts are much shorter in duration, so there is less build up of fatigue.
      2. There is no aesthetic end goal of a mini cut. You don't need to look your best therefore don't need to have low fatigue levels.

    I appreciate your content and the discussions you bring up. However, I wanted to share my perspective on a recent reference you made to Auschwitz camp survivors and their appearance.
    The Holocaust was an immensely tragic event in history that resulted in the loss of millions of lives. It's crucial that when we discuss topics like this, we do so with great sensitivity and accuracy. References to the physical appearance of survivors can inadvertently trivialize the depth of their suffering and the historical significance of the events they went through.
    It's important to remember that survivors of the Holocaust endured unimaginable pain, loss, and trauma. Discussing their appearance should be approached with empathy and understanding, focusing on the resilience they displayed rather than emphasizing their physical condition.

    Wierd how there's not much good advice on prep. It's almost like the prep coaches keep it a secret for personal gain 🤷‍♂️ 😂
