First Ever XC Mountain Biking Race My Experience | Uxbridge Ocup 2022 Cross Country MTB Race

- Getting into mountain biking last summer I decided it was time to take part in my first cross country mountain biking race, not only of the season but ever. This would provide me with a humbling experience for myself and a new appreciation for the athletes that take part in it. This race was filled with spills, pain filled legs, and a smiling face to match all throughout.
I would encourage anyone to take part in a cross-country mountain biking race even if it may be your first race ever. It is a great experience providing the opportunity for challenge and enjoyment. My first race ever took place in Uxbridge Ontario Canada in the Uxbridge Ocup.
Some thing to note from my first experience in cross country mountain bike racing is firstly pace yourself and ride your own, particularly in the begging. I started way to hard and way to fast and absolutely blew up, making the rest of the race super hard. The second thing to note would be ride the most technical trails possible that are accessible to you before the cross country mountain biking race, doing this will prepare you for what ever terrain is to come forth. The third thing to note is go to the pre ride, had I not gone to the pre ride I would have been in for a rude awakening in the first lap. And the Final and most important part of your first cross country mountain biking race is to have fun and enjoy yourself.

Biking is hard don’t be discouraged just valuable lessons learnt! I used to bike with my dad in a past life lol! The muddy paths in the forest are fun until it’s wet and you slip lol! You handled it well and got right back up! Great work Ryan 🥳🙌🏾🙌🏾
