Fabi says it's strange the play went from so precise to so poor. I don't think so.
Fabi must have seen so many of those Short vs Kasparov games where Short played beautiful attacking chess and had Kasparov dead and then began to miss easy tactics once he knew he was winning. He even stated the one game he did win was because he didn't realise it was winning till the very end.
Knowing you are about to win be World Champion can do very strange things to a guy who very deep down might not believe he deserves it.
I'd still consider this less amazing than the way GM Svidler collapsed in the World cup final a few years ago.

Eric Lindros was a prominent NHL player who in his Junior years absolutely dominated because of his size and natural ability. Because of his size in junior he didn't require the most important fundamental at the elite NHL level. Keep your head up. He was always looking down at the puck which resulted in him receiving of the most brutal hits ever. Nepo is the same. He is so talented and skilled that its clear he has never learned to slow down and evaluate a position in key moments in his youth. He has never developed patience and methodical analyses. If he could play the grind it out strangulation that Magnus can do Nepo, I think, would be a little better than him. But he is so far away from that. Its almost a Shakespearean tragedy

How confident is Fabiano in makings candidates 2024 given it is unlikely he ll qualify via the highest rated elo or circuit points? It appears he has to end up top 3 in world cup or top 2 in grand swiss? However it appears the highest rated elo is for player not yet qualified via other avenues. Perhaps he might get it but can't rely on it. It d mean Firouzja, Naka., Giri and So qualified via other avenues. Provided Magnus doesnt play or cares about qualifying.

Ian deserved this for his Qh4 bluff.

I would prefer if the analysis of the match was shorter and more compressed. But anyways, good job.

I disagree. The game was too complicated and every subtlety needed to be discussed for a complete understanding of the choices of moves made and their alternatives. Important details are missed out with too much compression.

These recaps are the best because they cover everything at the highest level. You really get to understand the game. If you want compressed, watch any of the other recaps...please don't change this format
