This is what happens when you do not do pool maintenance correctly. The area might have had high heat and there could had been a cover on the pool. It can take a number of days to fix the problem. The chlorine and ph were way off for a long time. The pool has algae and high phosphorus and could have high copper levels too. It is not safe to swim. First thing he needs to do is to clean the pool filters. Add the needed chemicals and when the water is clear and the readings are balanced he needs to clean the filters again. My pool has the large Pentair cylinder filters. Anytime I bring down my phosphates I have to clean the 4 filters twice. I always check my levels twice during the week.
it might have higher copper levels after he poured in the copper algicide, but it’s not green because it has copper. Copper is an algicide. Now don’t get me wrong. The Copper can stay in the pool Green but it’s more likely a possibly if phosphates from fertilizer and obviously low chlorine.
The water became like that because the owners neglected it, nor did they test their water daily. I’ve owned an inground for years. Experienced all sorts of weather conditions and not once has my pool looked like this other than initial opening for the season.
Weather can absolutely do it. Torrential rain during a thunderstorm - ie humid, muggy - can give you pea soup overnight. It just takes the right (or wrong depending on your viewpoint) conditions.
@@ChrisAndCats If your pool chemistry is balanced, no, it will take several days of lousy weather to create that pea soup. I know neglect when I see it.
Terrible pool tech. Complete overkill with the “pinch a penny” chemicals. First of all it depends if it’s a salt pool or chlorine pool. If it was a salt pool you would need to test your salt lvl and make sure your cell was properly working. After that you’re going to check if the pools properly filtering (timer box, pump etc) once that’s been completed you do a chems check. Half ass techs use stick test. Any real tech does his own drop test. In most of these cases a pool will turn green from a lack of chlorine, filtration, or introduction of phosphates. If the equipment is good and your chemicals are within in normal range bust out the phosphate remover. Toss a cap full in and look for “white clouds”. Once the cause of the issue is determined you can treat the pool. 2-3 jugs of chlorine (2.5 gallons each) a couple caps of yellow out, full brushing of pool, clean the filter and set the timer to run 6-10 hours after you’ve completed. Return the next day and clean the filter again and maybe another brush/riptide vac. Of course you would net and clean the baskets out as well. This will solve 99% of your issues. Obviously other factors come into play. Water loss due to leaks, bad equipment, and stupid customers. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve pulled my hair out trying to figure out an issue. Only to find the customer is adding his own chemicals or turning the timer box off when I leave. I’ve had customers push planters into pools after servicing them to cause issues. People are nuts….
