Hi big Clive, this is scary, I just sent a link to your channels and Eric’s to my mate Alistair who was a manager at Hiram Walker’s on the electric side. He really knows his shit unlike me who is a Vale of Leven Academy (circa 1968) school boy physics type person. Keep up the great work both of you guys. Kindest regards. Joe. Alistair is my go to man on anything electrical/electronic

Ever since I started watching your videos i’ve worked harder to be like you. Sometimes it's not what you know, but who you know. Great to have help only a phone call away. We're all in this together and we need to help each other. Getting the car fixed is all that matters to the customer. Yes they want it done as cheaply as possible, but having a car that don't go uddin, uddin is worthless. GOOD JOB!!

I bought my 5 speed manual trans frontier in 2006. I didn't change the gear oil until 100k miles. I changed the clutch at 135 but when the old one came out it looked like it could go another 50,000. Today I have 160 on it and it still shifts like a damn dream. Give me Japanese bullet proof manual 5 speeds all god damn day.

I just hope this isn’t where things are going in the future. Nice little nightmare job outta the way. I give you credit for sticking with it to the end and fixing the car- kudos

I'm glad that I'm retired from this business. I don't miss beating my head against the wall. It always seemed that I was the one that got stuck with these problem childs. 37 years as a GM tech. I asked my service manager why I wound up with the problem cars, and I was told that I was the only tech in the shop that didn't give up on a problem and would find the cause and fix it. It didn't put more in my pocket ,but it did put more pride in my work.

Ya know? Being a person who does mostly transmission work. I can never figure out the logic someone employees when you replace the transmission and you have the same problem why you would put another transmission in it. 4 transmissions! Really? Eric, your deductive skill on this was absolutely stellar. It might have taken you awhile but that is not the point. You figured this out with the challenge of dealing with Nissan diagnostics. Which I think they have someone who purposely puts things through a machine called the complicator. Just to make sure nobody understands what they are talking about (including dealership techs) and so it will be as confusing as humanly possible. Good work my friend.

Ain't technology great! Computers make things soooooo much easier.
Sarcasm aside, it is nice to be able to plug in a phone or scan tool and get live data from the vehicle, rather than having to get creative with probes and jumper wires. Until the computer stops cooperating. I love watching your channel for how you approach things, and how you work through the diagnostic process. Thanks for sharing, and look forward to the next one.

It would be great if there was a great mechanic like you in the south Suburban Chicago area. I have an 05 Xterra with an airbag light and the dealer charged me $135 to tell me they need to install $1000 parts until the light goes off . other shops just said take it to the dealer. I will just ignore the light for now. Its refreshing to see a shop that actually does a diagnosis and doesn't just replace expensive parts.

Well , I am happy that there is someone else besides me that has a problem with a Nissan . I am changing pins on the ECM for a D40 2011 . 2010 being a year that Nissan changed a lot on these cars and some DIYers screwed it up even more by putting a wrongly configurated ECM , making me use two OE manuals , 2007 and 2011 to fix what started out as an easy repair of changing a glow plug module and a cam sensor what turned into a nightmare . It is an understatement to say that Nissan has no good repair info . It sucks. Specifically on a 2011 .

@@glenjamindle Thanks. It was probably new enough when I went there that it was "just there". And it might have been listed at that time.

Awesome job Eric! If you ever want to rule out the APP and TPS quickly in the future I have a tip for you.
Put the ignition in key on engine off. Shift the gear selector to drive. The ecm now thinks you’ve met the criteria for the input command (app sensors) to send the output command (TP movement). Oddly enough engine speed isn’t in that criteria. The TPS should now react to APP input allowing you to quickly see if the ecm is able to command the throttle to open and close. You can use this to check for tps or app drop outs. The dual throttle body vehicles will work also but have a different maximum voltage FYI

Great Video Eric! My First Boss in a repair shop years ago said " If it was easy, they wouldn't need....us."
I own 2 Chevrrrroolets, 4 Nissan's, and 1 Acura. Chevys have their hood's open most.
I do notice, their aren't many BMW's in your shop. You probably hand their owners a map to Ivan's neighborhood. Lol
