Port Royal Jamaica
The town of Port Royal welcomed its first cruise ship on Monday morning Jan 20, 2020 with Prime Minister Andrew Holness celebrating the development as a momentous occasion.
Port Royal Cruise Port Terminal is still under construction.
Prime Minister was at the Port Royal Cruise Port at Fort Charles celebrating the arrival of the Marella Discovery 2 cruise ship,"He stated in a social media post that "Over 2,000 passengers are here to experience our beautiful island."
The Marella Discovery II docked at the Port Royal cruise port at 8.09 am.
The Port Authority of Jamaica took a major step towards its planned development of a cruise port terminal in Port Royal, after securing a floating pier for the historical east Kingston town last year.

AND CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE LIVING IN EASTERN KINGSTON AND PORT ROYAL AREA. AND TO THE GOVERNMENT OF JAMAICA,AND ESPECIALLY MINISTER OF TOURISM Mr. EDMUND BARTLETT, AND HIS HARD WORKING TEAM IN THE MINISTRY OF TOURISM. ALTHOUGH ALL OF THE VARIOUS FICILITIES ARE NOT YET COMPLETED,THIS IS WITHOUT A DOUBT A MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR THE PEOPLE OF PORT ROYAL. AND BECAUSE OF THE HISTORICAL VALUES IT HOLDS. WONDERFULLY DONE MINISTER BARTLETT.
why is it major for us here in port royal we have not seen anything from it other than port authority selling off land taking away our community center our football field and building of houses for residents has not even become a topic of conversation other than to try ship us out to bull bay and mountain view where has crime so they can kill us off when we live a nice quiet port royal its good for the stock holders and investors you mean

@@InJamaica o really need to look at it
Great footage bruh..... It's a good look for *Kingston* and *Port Royal* .....🇯🇲👍
Weldone to EVERYONE who makes this possible. As a Jamaican living abroad, is about time we hear some awesome news of early 2020. These are some of the positivity Jamaica and Jamaicans desperately NEEDED not WANTED. Jamaica rely on tourism and if not, one of its biggest income is from tourism. So lets use this positivity and move forward, welcome everyone with an open mind and continue building. Jamaica is such a beautiful Island and like every other countries it has it's dirty corners again this could well be due to lack of jobs and opportunities. Great start for 2020 hope there's plenty more to come. PEACE AND LOVE.
@Wayne Ebanks Thank you and one love brother
It's a good look. I would love to see the entire Port Royal redeveloped into a proper product for tourist and locals alike to enjoy.
1972 from Southampton to Kingston with stops in Lisbon, Santa Cruz, T & T, Caracas and then Jamaica; I was 6.
Awsome drone shots of Jamaica with regards from Barbados
The positive side to Jamaica tun up .Now we need to tun down the negative side.
God bless Jamaica and our Prime Minister and the other for the good work they are doing for Jamaica growth
We have a Crime minister and not a.......
I am a woman of God and I don't speak like that
I'm glad for Port Royal. This could be the start of greater things to come to the town in the future. My sister and I went there back in 2015 and it was a wonderful experience. We visited the fort and museum, took in the sights of the town, even ate fish at one of the restaurants. It's a welcome break from all the hustle and bustle you'd find in many parts of Kingston.
So glad to see this... A country's capital is it's showcase. Port Royal is so historic in itself - but Kingston and even Spanish Town should also benefit. One day there should highways to allow even cruise ship visitors to visit the whole island easily.

Hey Kennoy development for that area
great job bro keep it coming
I will @mike larry
that is sooooo bueatiful love it
@Patricia Allen Thank you
Glad to see Jamaica rebuilding its reputation as a cruise destination. It will probably be necessary to cordon off the area around the port (as has been done with Falmouth) so tourists can relax and feel safe.
Thank you for this video, looking good.

@Maurice Kingpin You are welcome and thanks for watching. I watch your videos too 😀
@@InJamaica respect
Excellent!
@Kazmadai Thank you
Thank u teach
Since there's no beach there at that area the Government of Jamaica should have built a water park. It's not too late though.
Everything you see here is actually really early. Even at the cruise terminal, construction was not finished and it doesn't officially open until March. I think this cruise has a home port in Montego Bay and they really jumped on the opportunity to come to Port Royal so they were accommodated. However, There are pretty extensive development plans which include coastal revetment/protection on the Caribbean sea side of Port Royal, a boardwalk on the harbour side, expansion of Morgan's Harbour hotel, renovated and new housing reflecting period architecture, a salt water pool etc. There is a portroyal2020 website that outlines the overall plan.
james sexton thank you for the information, it has been quite useful.

@Raven Yendor You are welcome
I think they going to need a next floating dock because is going to be a lot more ship going to come there
This is just the beginning there a lot more coming trust am pnp and i tell you Andrew holiness is the right person for the job
We not going to get rid of crime because u have special peoples who control it higher than the government and can say they will bring it down but nothing else
What drone you use for the excellent aerial view?
do u use a drone to make videos like these its wonderful
Yes a drone
That's nice....concentrate on things that are in urgent need of repair, eg. .hospitals, schools, police /fire stations. .etc.
I wonder if all the ghosts of the pirates that lived in Port Royal before the earthquake will now move and haunt all the cruse ships that dock there.
It appears to me they are a rebirth of land re-emerging by nature .comparing to 50 years ago
What is the situation of port royal dock today?

Wat about the so called swatters
here is my opinion on going to port royal{There is serious risk from crime in Kingston. Violent crime, including sexual assault, is a serious problem throughout Jamaica, particularly in Kingston and Montego Bay. Jamaica's police force is understaffed and has limited resources. Gated resorts are not immune to violent crime.May 30, 2019
Crime destroys a country's tourism industry if it is too intense. The reality that Jamaica's tourism is still in tact and is on the rise means that crime is not as severe as it seems. Yes Jamaica needs to do better in lowering crime rates, but I don't think it is really much more than what one would expect from major cities in the larger Caribbean countries. I think the fact that Airbnb is so popular these days means something.
Movie
Downtown huh done fix up yet it need fi fix up some more take off the whole heep a vendors off the streets because them litter the place too much dem nasty
@
I am a Jamaican living abroad and am hoping government with beef up security so dem dutty dogs don't rob and kill tourist.
Another waste of money !! Whats in port royal to see , 1 run down garbage filled fort...
There is an old adage: "Build it and they will come." I think that is what the government is trying to do, and this is just the beginning. I applaud the people responsible for this vision.
People, sorry to inform you!! but a few tourists visiting Port Royal is no sign of economic progress for Jamaica. This will not contribute to the rise in standard-of-living and quality-of-life, so badly needed of most Jamaicans.... And ironically, my belief is that none of us here will ever live to see Jamaica become a developed country.... So this little cruise ship bullshit will only benefit a few business people who will end up employing a few black Jamaicans to work for JA$6,000 to $10,000 per week.
Yea looks nice but don't forget who is making all the big money's out of it .... not the poor people
Ok comrade. Was searching for your comment😒 how is Joshua's socialist Utopia working out😏
Each passenger pays a fee for landing which goes into the coffers of the country. Those funds goes towards further development of the facilities and create jobs in the area. It is amazing that some people can never see the positive in anything. That is why they are so bitter towards humanity and create crime
@@hbrown2866 Exactly. The moment something fancy and developed comes to Jamaica people automatically think locals aren't benefiting from it smh
