    Man and I thought there would be no way it lasts all the way to Hawaii with salt water slapping the bottom of the solar panel the whole way but it almost made it to New Zealand. Kudos to this guy.

      On one side I love projects like that, on the other side I'm afraid they inspire hundred thousands of people to sink tons of batteries, solarpannels and stuff in the sea or lakes in their neighbourhood.

    I tried solar panels but I get only 20% efficiency the most. Once in whole full sun %60 efficiency. Use MPPT controller. For a kayak to carry the extra 15 lbs weight of a panel onto a kayak. I just do not see it justified to capture solar energy for extra power.
    What solar controller you use in your experience to the most out of the panels. Thanks. Please advise me....

      On my ship in the high sees and I see this float by. I stop the fucking boat and turn around. Thats why they all fail cus of me.

      could never be found ... if purposely looking for MH370 produced ZERO finds.... nobody is going to find a tiny solar boat.

      @@KrustyKlown If it's working and emitting radio signals, it can be found by other boats. A broken ship can easily be lost for 100 years.

    If the cartels find a way to make these cheap and reliable, law enforcement is going to have a much harder time keeping drugs out of the country.

      This is cheap already. Reliable, for a short distance, probably yes. But using airplane uav might faster.

      I assume homeland security could, and probably do, monitor the locations of satellite modems, like the one used in this project, that are transmitting from the middle of the ocean. Especially if the trajectory of the craft is unusual compared to other ships.

      Lost rudder Mid Oct 2016, but the boat continued transmitting and was saved by some solid work by the sailors of the Sofrana Tourville.

      Bayu Amanda it already completed the Hawaii trip... They launched it from Hawaii to New Zealand but I'm not sure if it is actually still on it's voyage.
