Here in Morocco we just eat it as it is after we peel it, yes the seeds are an inconvenience at first but after a bit of time you get used to it, and it seems you tried the red cactus fruit which tend to be less sweeter than the summer cactus fruit (which have a yellow/green colour on it), definitely would recommend the summer cactus fruits since those are sweeter

There's green ones, too! My favorite are these red ones. Peel skin, cut into big cubes or coins and place in fridge to chill for an hour or more. However cold you'd like them or not. Sprinkle lime and a bit of Tajin on top 🤌 the seeds can be eaten as well, not chewed on but just swallowed. Like eating guava.

  • @mahoumofo

My family and I usually just swallow the seeds lol. Usually we peel these, put them in containers, and refrigerate them so that we can have some ready to eat cold straight out of the fridge. Its flavour imo is so much more enjoyable (and very refreshing!) when eaten straight out of the fridge; so good that we don't even bother with spitting the seeds out and just swallow them instead.

Sometimes because of shipping distances they have to pick fruits/veggies early so it survives the duration by the time the produce reaches your doorstep it has matured in colour but not in flavor. My favorite fruit. The the one you got wasn’t dripping juice so it might be unripe. It should be dripping juice till your elbow after eating 3-4. That’s seriously the king of fruit. Eating too much of it will give you constipation.

Here in egypt when they’re in season they’re literally everywhere in the street being sold precut. It’s very popular here. My mom LOVES it but I really don’t understand the hype. And yeah, you just swallow the seeds 😅

    You eat the seed!!!!
You cut the top of the fruit and the bottom of it. Then, you vertically shallow slice all around the first layer. And then with your hand, you peel it. And you eat the seeds with it and it tastes really good.
