Trust Sanjeev to grind his own marbles by introducing the Gandhi family. Nobody denies the corruption there but to use that as part of a silly question on how to deal with corruption in a democracy is just plain silly! Examples like Cuba and DPR are also absurd. Both those countries have a context to them namely, American sanctions and war. Not an inability to reform. Chang Ho is actually spot on when he says not to get trapped in labels line socialism and capitalism but to have regulated markets. Something India is slowly slipping away from as it enters the US sphere of neo- liberal influence.

This has been espoused by economist Richard Werner , in his book Princess of the Yen, where he elaborates on the 'window guidance' of the economy by japanese central bank, that is responsible for the economic prowess of Japan

Great show, am following Ha Joon Chang constantly and appreciate his work immensly. Sanjeev should maybe add some more common sense to his theoretical knowledge. Start with Thomas Paine, maybe.

The Jaipur Lit-Fest itself an example of capitalist ethics, sponsored brand agenda and epic mediocrity.
However Ha Joon is a brilliant economist who is talking to people who are mostly interested in free booze and shit book plots ...
