You still have women relaxing their hair, then they cut it all off or the hair fall off to where they go back natural when it sees it wasn't working for them, in the meantime some people have told them so, in which they refused to listen too.

Ever since going back to the relaxer, my hair has never been longer or healthier. I have waist length hair and always get compliments on the length and thickness of my hair. Damaged relaxed hair may be true for some but it is not true for all. Just like healthy natural hair is true for some but not all. We all are entitled to our opinions but that's just what it is, an opinion and not a fact.

I had the same issue, I used a box dye before traveling to Japan. My hair hated me for the longest time (for about 6 months.) It felt dry, like if I fried it with a blowdryer/flatiron!
I was able to reverse it by doing:
•hot oil treatments AND deep conditioning CONSISTENTLY every week. My hair went back to normal in about 3 months.
•I recently discovered Olaplex and the Aphogee Curlific! Treatments. I wish I had those a year ago, cuz it would have helped immensely!
•If you dyed your hair and it’s damaged, make sure you’re trimming your hair more often than you usually would (trim your hair about every 3 months), because your ends WILL fight you lol (they are the oldest part of your hair, therefore weaker than the hair growing out your roots. They need extra TLC.)

It’s just hair and will grow back. If its too much of a shock to cut all the color off at one time, then do it in phases. A blunt cut in a straightened state is a tapered cut in its curly state. Just go for it...

Hey Sis, I am not a professional hair stylist, but i have worked with many. One thing that I've heard (don't know how accurate but it makes sense) is that whenever you permanently color your hair, you are suppose to continue to color it regularly even if it is a gloss coat in order to have the cuticle remain sealed. If you do not, your cuticle will open and your hair will become damaged/break.

I decided to go with ombré colored passion twists instead of coloring it. That should curb the graving of me wanting to color my hair for awhile. I had to talk myself out of it. Warm it, add it to your hair, add a plastic bag, towel over that... then binge some Netflix. (OK not binge but like an episode or two). After that add your conditioner and detangle. Shampoo, condition, LOC, twist and sit with heat or the plastic bag/towel method. Do this every two weeks and dust your ends monthly. Decrease to monthly after 2 months. Good luck!!

Maybe I'm staring the obvious butttttt.... you can't dye your hair and then just keep using the same type of products on your hair, or get lazy with your hair (no judgement, I've learnt from my own mistakes on this one). When you dye your hair, you strip essential protein from your hair. You need to add it back in. You need to do a hard protein treatment straight after dyeing and then you need to keep up with regular protein deep conditioners and products containing protein in them. One hard protein treatment (eg Aphogee Two Step) once every 6 weeks. Most natural hair products don't contain a high level of protein as they are not made for colour-treated hair - they are made to add softness and a little strength, but not a lot. So even if you deep condition with them every single week, your virgin hair will be happy, your coloured hair will not be feeling it at all. I bleached my hair a while back and I've BEEN knowing this for a long time... butttttt.... after losing my dad, a major breakup and just a crazy year in general, my hair care definitely suffered and I slacked on my bleached hair. It's ok Sis, we all go through it.

    • @jandrews3913
      @jandrews3913 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Karissa I agree with you. I think she needs a protein treatment as well. The bleach and dyes literally break down the protein bonds in our hair strands in order to lift the color. She needs to strengthen those if she really wants to see some improvement. There is a such thing as striking a protein/moisture balance. All the deep conditioning and moisturizing in the world is not going to help when that balance is out of wack. If fact it will make it worse. Her hair actually looks like she's suffering from hygral fatigue. All of our hair is made of protein so the idea that this hair porosity or that one can't handle protein is false. Certain porosity levels may not need as much and/or as often. But all hair types can use it if they get out of balance. Striking a good protein balance will actually help her hair to retain moisture as well.

I am going through the same thing. I going to buy some vitamins because what I learned in my 30s was you have to take care your body from the inside out. I’m just hoping that it’s not too late for me because I’m now 48 and hair thinning runs in my family from both sides. Also remember if you are going through a stressful time your hair and skin is the first things that will show signs of the stress. Over the summer I was rushed to the E.R. think I was having an heart attack. So, whatever it is try to let it go. Give it to God, this is what I been practicing and I keep reminding myself that it will take some. When a person colors they’re hair you have to take extra precautions to keep it healthy. The only way to do that is to keep it extra conditioning and moisturizing keep it moist. This is what I am working on. So, I feel you and your struggle! Keep at it, and give her extra attention and moisture and she will be alright. I will try coloring my hair again but, now I know that I can’t just wash and condition my hair she’s going to need more attention. Because you was rocking that red and I look fierce in red myself. I’m not ready to give up on the red just keep clipping your ends as needed. P.S. No, I am not a hair stylist this is just something that I used to do in my 30s and my hair was longer and healthier. Good luck sis 💗💖👍🏽

girl story of my life!!! but you’re stronger than me bc i cut a chunk of my hair off a few weeks ago bc i couldn’t take it. that bleach is the devil but i have noticed that putting a semi permanent black on top brings *some* life to the damaged parts

You won’t sis......I♥️ both Mielle’s mask and deep conditioner....your short black hair was very cute...your current color and style is still cute.

This whole vid is my entire mood sometimes during my wash day😫😒😑😤😠😡🤬😭😭 I be seriously contemplating my life choices that brought me to this point of detangling my hair for what seems like ages 😭
P.S. it might not just be ur hair as to why it still feels dry even when it's wet. My hair doesn't respond great to Mielle products and certain other ones, it feels dry even when I pack on the product and saturate it with H2O💦. I would use a different deep conditioner to see if you hair responds the same way or nah. Then you'll be able to confirm if it's only your hair that's dry and not the product combo.

I have moments when my hair just looks trash af and it’s just like why ya look like that 😭🗣. But I agree your hair texture does change as it grows out. Maybe you could try the apoghee 2 step treatment I heard you mention dry and limp you could just need some protein. But that reminiscing ting dangerous man.

Yesss I experienced the same thing when I dyed my hair red. It was fine for a minute and then it was just dry no matter how much I deep conditioned. But what helped me was a protein treatment! I would say clarify your hair first to make sure it’s not product build up and do a protein treatment. The curl junkie repair me conditioner id amazing and isn’t super harsh. Either that or aphogee 2 min reconstructor and trust me your hair will thank you! Whichever one you choose be sure to follow up with a deep conditioner. Although we still have our natural curl pattern, hair dye is a process that strips our hair of protein and it has to be replenished. Oh yea and also try deep conditioning with heat. It makes a HUGE difference. Hope this helps!

Cut out that color! Every time you say “my hair feels so dry”, you’re running your fingers over the colored part. I am so here for another big chop! I’d love to see your content with short hair again.

She has low porosity and since her hair is already damaged from the bleaching the protein treatment will only temporarily treat her hair until she get a big chop 🤷🏽‍♀️

This video gave me the strength to go and moisturize my ends. I’ve been keeping my hair in two strand twists for weeks at a time. I FINALLY took them out and rocked a twist out for a day. Instead of twisting it back up I threw a bonnet on and called it a day knowing damn well I need to seal my ends.

    Jess dont chop! Lol
I coloured my ends red, well now it looks kinda brown, but I've had to trim my ends like twice within 6 months. I just keep the ends moisturized and so far so good.

As we know,or at least should know bleached hair especially
requires much more scrutiny, and tender loving care, than unprocessed hair
which in of itself, is an added annoyance,to the daily maintenance of our dry kinky/natural hair
while just adding dark colored dyes
to our naturally dark hair,is made out to be much safer.
I'm so scared of blonde shades,on my natural hair
so I've opted to add color,to my hair via, other methods,
which are obviously braids/wigs ect ect 😊.
