That box art alone is amazing! The golden trim is great, the swirls and shapes give it even more depth, at least to my eye and here in video form. While I don't care much about Seed's characters, DAMN, do the Gundams and mobile suits look amazing, and this one is no exception, looks great! Wasn't too interested seeing the previews in shops, but your video made me reconsider it!
I hope you mean the swirl patterns and not the injection swirls, as the latter is very distracting. Glad to have swayed your initial judgement for this kit though, as this is definitely up there as one of SEED Freedom's strongest kits

In my school vr game that unit is in the game and it is 1 of the 3 Traitors of the G universe (the other 2 include Gundam EX and Eri) and boy the reason is more refined (it's not of emotional damage but instead there company was supposed to merge with Lacus once she married him but due to Kira Yamito having a "stuck Beam Saber" she dumped him before the wedding) Goalius did deal with it and Eri which the latter was given a decapachino by Goalius but unfortunately Kira Yamito died and the Mighty Strike Freedom was destroyed by the Gundam EX while Lacus was hospitalised
I just got this kit 3 days ago and currently in process of painting its white armor into black, painting gold innerframe into metallic gold. I want this kit to be black not white.
I remember seeing on twitter or bluesky someone painting this up by coloring the white black and man do the lighter colors just pop well with that color scheme
I am yet to watch through the CE timeline outside of general plot outlines and clips here and there, (I didn’t even know this suit existed before the kit was revealed. One of the more unique ways something has been spoiled lol) but I was excited to see what this kit had to offer since the reveal the gold parts weren’t stickers. Now to figure out how to make shelf space for this absolute unit 🤔
to me, the best thing about this model, is not even the model itself, but how amazing it will be for kitbashing. those gold accents will look awersome coupled with something like the sinanju.
Would be awesome if Bandai put this much effort into other HG kits instead of using their best engineering on the SEED line There are so many kits that should have come with effect parts but those were just thrown on P Bandai Heck, the V2 assault buster doesn't even come with beam saber effect parts
The V2 is a shrewd marketing tactic for you to get the standard V2 for the effects. But I do agree with you on wishing that Bandai put as much effort into this kit into others. But seeing as they couldn't give the backpacks of the SEED Freedom kits as much attention as the main bodies, I think the preferential treatment will continue

I find it funny that the Cal-re.A is incompatible with the Proud Defender. The Cal-re.A is one of my favorite designs in SEED Freedom, too bad it was piloted by Orphee.
If you listen closely in the compatibility section, you'd hear Orphee shout "Why won't you love me??" And yes, as an original design that's translated well into model kit form, I'm pretty happy with what they did with the Cal-re.A. Too bad it's piloted by a salt lord
Agree to disagree. There are a few gems, but most of them are meh or worse to me. But I hope they do employ what they've learned here into kits of other series in the future
The modern HGUC lines are extremely great partly because you can mix and match across all Bandai products thanks to its universal fits (including 30MS/MM and Figure-rise Standard). SEED Action System is not very customization friendly outside its small pool of kits.

Yes, I've painted both golds. For the frame/thrusters, I used Mr Metallic Color GX Blue Gold, and the trims were painted in Mr Metallic Color GX Rough Gold

Sadly it's an engineering flaw that can't be avoided with metallic injection plastic. For what it's worth, it'd be perfect had the pieces been undergated. And no, neither of the golds glow under UV. Glad you came on board though, thank you for the support

Can i ask what gold spray do you recommend for the parts separated gold, and aside from that, should i also paint the inner frame also for increased integrity?
The inner frame needs no extensive fortification. In fact, doing that will cause some of the joints to be way too tight and perilous to move. If you're painting the frame, make sure to mask all the connecting parts like the ball joints of the shoulders and waist. As for paints, I personally used Mr Metallic Color GX Blue Gold for the frame and thrusters, and Mr Metallic Color GX Rough Gold for the trims. You can also consider the Red Gold (used on my Shi-ve.A and Typhoeus Gundam Chimera for example), or some other golds from other brands.
@mj2005gundam so would it be better to just paint only the exposed gold parts visible to the eye and leave the ones under other parts to be as is? Another thing is I'm using airbrush marker metallic gold to do so, is it possible or should I get the spray can gold instead?
@@ryanj2178 it's always best practice to spray the entire piece just so you don't miss anything. But like I said, mask the joints first. Also, as far as I've heard, the marker airbrush seems to do a somewhat similar job in quality to proper airbrushes, so you can go ahead and see whether you like the results of that or not. Keep in mind that this kit uses 2 shades of gold in case you want to be that detailed about it
Same. I don't care if the kit's price is jacked up in the pursuit of comprehensiveness. I'd rather not have to hunt down another set or do the work myself to make up for missing gimmicks
Universal standard peg and hole connection, same as the other Black Knights. You can't be too sure about the SEED Freedom kits because some hip joints are just that tiny bit too small or too large to be used with the universal standard HG kits

I based the names of the Black Knights on their namesake gods, and this one is Karura. Based on directly typing the Japanese names into search and other translations of the name, there's no question that it's based on Karura, the Japanese transliteration of Garuda

That adapter is from the HG Diver Ace Unit. But there are a good number of expansion sets that have double peg to double peg adapters in varying thicknesses.

Okay real talk this mobile suit looks really really cool. It has the regal knight design that you can expect from the line specifically for his flunky's, a lot of effect parts that actually make the thing pop and aside from a good amount of issues the model kit itself just screams this is gonna have a huge shelf presence no matter where you go in your office or room or computer space what have you. ....... That being said though dear God the pilot of this thing is a god damn idiot. I gotta tell you when I found out that this guy's plan, his motivation was just oh because I want to smash a generic boring Mary Sue of a woman that's when I stood up and said are you freaking kidding me!? This whole thing is just so you could smash Lacus and NTR Jesus Yamato....... We go from one blonde guy who just wanted to watch the world burn and be destroyed to another blonde guy who randomly screamed on the final battle I am Rau Le Creuset and now this blond guy who wants to steal a Mary Sue Ultimate Coordinator. Sadder thing is, both Rau and Rey were much better characters than Orphee is. But I cannot deny that with a 40 cm wing span, this will steal the show no matter where it's displayed in. However, the prequel is where it makes two of us, as I'm glad they're turning the supplementary material that's given out, by FUKUDA HIMSELF no less, before the FIRST audience entered the cinema to watch the movie, into animated form so that people get the context of the movie a little better. Still a testament to crap writing knowing that there's an addendum to be read before the plot begins, but whatever. Glad you enjoyed the review.

I just got this kit 3 days ago and currently in process of painting its white armor into black, painting gold innerframe into metallic gold. I want this kit to be black not white.

I like how royal and regal it looks with the all bright color scheme
I am yet to watch through the CE timeline outside of general plot outlines and clips here and there, (I didn’t even know this suit existed before the kit was revealed. One of the more unique ways something has been spoiled lol) but I was excited to see what this kit had to offer since the reveal the gold parts weren’t stickers. Now to figure out how to make shelf space for this absolute unit 🤔

to me, the best thing about this model, is not even the model itself, but how amazing it will be for kitbashing. those gold accents will look awersome coupled with something like the sinanju.
Would be awesome if Bandai put this much effort into other HG kits instead of using their best engineering on the SEED line
There are so many kits that should have come with effect parts but those were just thrown on P Bandai
Heck, the V2 assault buster doesn't even come with beam saber effect parts
agreed, they should adopt the seed-action system to the other hg kits. Wishing there would be conversion parts to allow older kits to use them.
The V2 is a shrewd marketing tactic for you to get the standard V2 for the effects. But I do agree with you on wishing that Bandai put as much effort into this kit into others. But seeing as they couldn't give the backpacks of the SEED Freedom kits as much attention as the main bodies, I think the preferential treatment will continue

The Zeta usually missed the hyper mega launcher (I think that's the name)

Its MG kits even come with a custom display stand which is usually reserved for kits that need it
This isn't even my hate for the SEED series talking cause hating the anime is not stopping me for buying the kits, precisely because they are very well made
It's just annoying to see Bandai picking a "favourite child" and neglecting everything else
Though something positive about the lack of effect parts on certain kits is that those who want them but don't want to pay extra, will have to make them themselves, which is what I did to my HGUC V2 and will do once I get the MG Turn A
Which is definitely a fun thing to do as a model builder, since it's unreasonable to expect a "perfect toy" out of box

Agree to disagree. There are a few gems, but most of them are meh or worse to me. But I hope they do employ what they've learned here into kits of other series in the future
UC cant complain, the unleash is a monster probably the most insane gunpla they ever made. even compared to some of the more complex designs.
The modern HGUC lines are extremely great partly because you can mix and match across all Bandai products thanks to its universal fits (including 30MS/MM and Figure-rise Standard). SEED Action System is not very customization friendly outside its small pool of kits.

Yes, I've painted both golds. For the frame/thrusters, I used Mr Metallic Color GX Blue Gold, and the trims were painted in Mr Metallic Color GX Rough Gold

Sadly it's an engineering flaw that can't be avoided with metallic injection plastic. For what it's worth, it'd be perfect had the pieces been undergated. And no, neither of the golds glow under UV. Glad you came on board though, thank you for the support

Keep in mind DRAGOONs are useless under gravity, so I understand why the Rising Freedom and Immortal Justice have no such weapons

They’re referred to as the “Wings of Light,” but that name belongs to the Destiny’s wings, the Strike Freedom’s wings are referred to as the “Wings of the Sky.” Im aware that Strike Freedom’s wings are also referred to as Wings of Light, but I feel like the Wings of the Sky is its official name
But canon has been thrown out by SEED Freedom on multiple aspects, so why should we care about what they name the wings?

Can i ask what gold spray do you recommend for the parts separated gold, and aside from that, should i also paint the inner frame also for increased integrity?
The inner frame needs no extensive fortification. In fact, doing that will cause some of the joints to be way too tight and perilous to move. If you're painting the frame, make sure to mask all the connecting parts like the ball joints of the shoulders and waist.
As for paints, I personally used Mr Metallic Color GX Blue Gold for the frame and thrusters, and Mr Metallic Color GX Rough Gold for the trims. You can also consider the Red Gold (used on my Shi-ve.A and Typhoeus Gundam Chimera for example), or some other golds from other brands.
@mj2005gundam so would it be better to just paint only the exposed gold parts visible to the eye and leave the ones under other parts to be as is?
Another thing is I'm using airbrush marker metallic gold to do so, is it possible or should I get the spray can gold instead?
@@ryanj2178 it's always best practice to spray the entire piece just so you don't miss anything. But like I said, mask the joints first.
Also, as far as I've heard, the marker airbrush seems to do a somewhat similar job in quality to proper airbrushes, so you can go ahead and see whether you like the results of that or not. Keep in mind that this kit uses 2 shades of gold in case you want to be that detailed about it

I based the names of the Black Knights on their namesake gods, and this one is Karura. Based on directly typing the Japanese names into search and other translations of the name, there's no question that it's based on Karura, the Japanese transliteration of Garuda
Ah, yes. I remember I read somewhere that this is based on Garuda, in keeping up with the Hindu mythology references (Shiva, Rudra, Garuda).

That adapter is from the HG Diver Ace Unit. But there are a good number of expansion sets that have double peg to double peg adapters in varying thicknesses.

Okay real talk this mobile suit looks really really cool. It has the regal knight design that you can expect from the line specifically for his flunky's, a lot of effect parts that actually make the thing pop and aside from a good amount of issues the model kit itself just screams this is gonna have a huge shelf presence no matter where you go in your office or room or computer space what have you. ....... That being said though dear God the pilot of this thing is a god damn idiot. I gotta tell you when I found out that this guy's plan, his motivation was just oh because I want to smash a generic boring Mary Sue of a woman that's when I stood up and said are you freaking kidding me!? This whole thing is just so you could smash Lacus and NTR Jesus Yamato....... We go from one blonde guy who just wanted to watch the world burn and be destroyed to another blonde guy who randomly screamed on the final battle I am Rau Le Creuset and now this blond guy who wants to steal a Mary Sue Ultimate Coordinator. My God seed is really really dumb when it comes to their villains but at least we are finally done...... Wait what do you mean we're getting a prequel movie for seed freedom who asked for this!? Sigh great review of the model kit as always!
Sadder thing is, both Rau and Rey were much better characters than Orphee is. But I cannot deny that with a 40 cm wing span, this will steal the show no matter where it's displayed in. However, the prequel is where it makes two of us, as I'm glad they're turning the supplementary material that's given out, by FUKUDA HIMSELF no less, before the FIRST audience entered the cinema to watch the movie, into animated form so that people get the context of the movie a little better. Still a testament to crap writing knowing that there's an addendum to be read before the plot begins, but whatever. Glad you enjoyed the review.
