Hello Luis, I had one passat just like this one, 2 maybe 3 years ago. Parking brake module was not controling one of the calipers anymore. I diagnosed that parking brake module is faulty. I replace that module and when I do that, ABS coding were lost strait away. Then you need to code abs and parking brake module and perform all basics setings in abs in correct order. Update motor are fixed and caliper back on car and old motor was fine but changes anyways beacuse I think small sound motor back and around 193 thousen good change one side, but more problems radio on car almost dead and no fire to motor andcaliper back;/ module right?? JB540?? n stream to caliper and motor back on car very weird and littlebit hard brakepedal too beacuse service mode but brake pedal just little better but what now????
Autel you have offers you coding "creator". Its in "guided functions" and for the abs you need to input several part number identification codes. And you can find those on the sticker placed in the trunk under the carpet
Weird case. Looks like someone got a bit finger happy with VAG and screwed it up . Bit tricky. Great how you got it fixed. In cases like this the UTRA is a good piece of equipment. Nice job Luis. As always. P.S. I am not going to ask why someone would assume that changing a parking brake actuator would solve ABS or ESP problems.
Top job Luis :) Had a field day when I saw J104 as the control unit coding. I can imagine the scan tool asking for coding and the guy be like "wtf mate" and just entering the unit designation from the wiring diagram. Seems like the Alan Turing of VAG coding had been at it.

I believe issue caused by weak battery and to high current taken by damaged parking brake motor. VC-DS easy quick job but in some case need replacep PB module.
@@trolllololololoInfact on my passat the issue was the throttle pedal! I had a code for it which came back after a drive or 2. I replaced the pedal and cleared the fault code and no issues at all since. I can only assume the throttle pedal fault was interrupting the esp abs system and this is linked with the parking brake also. So very strange but fixed.
VCDS is pretty cheap for what it does. Why a garage wouldn't have one and don't do a full autoscan before putting a spanner anywhere near one of these nails is beyond me. As you know, save the result and you have a copy of all the original coding data from every module. On the newer ones without the original coding its ball ache to restore functionality. Messing with coding can reset calibrations that then need adapting. Just plugging a different cluster in to test something will wipe the ABS coding and you can bet there are other modules that could be just plugged in to get the same result. I know you sorted it but always do a test drive as well. I've had no codes anywhere and after a test drive silly flashing lights sometimes clear.

You can read the codes and see what the faults are, and clear them... but if needs coding, you will have get that done... Without scanning the car and see what the issue is, is a bit difficult to advise... What was wrong with the old module? 👍👍👍
Hello thanks for your reply and advice. The rear brakes driver side was not working, after i changed to new module it's started working left and right. I will connect to vcds beta 24.80 hopefully i will see and clear the errors, if not then yes i need to code it. Please can you tell me whats the best and free VCDS program for coding to download?
