- The 2024 Euros are well underway and the knockout stages have finally begun and we now have a better insight of the disappointing teams and more importantly max the teams to watch out for.
Going into the tournament, the general consensus-whether you agree or not, which we don't necessarily- was that France and England had the best squads and were the top favorites for Euro 2024. As a result, they were rated slightly above the likes of Germany, Portugal, and Spain as the favorites to win the trophy before the tournament began. Given the situation these teams were in and the absurdly high talent level of their players, this made sense, but based on how they have been playing so far, there is another team that is being pipped to win euro 2024.

Im Portuguese however I still think its Spain who will win. Portugal havent played well and while thats not a requirement to win the tournament as we saw in 2016 and 2021 euros where italy and portugal both werent playing well nor scoring lots of goals, Spain is playing the best football in this tournament and have only conceded once (an unlucky own goal against georgia). In that game as well Spain came from behind. Lamal has yet to hit the back of the net and when he does its going to be that extra firepower they need. Nico Williams is cooking. I am confident Portugal can get by France with a solid defensive game and hopefully a goal or two lead. I think Portugal can lock down france as other teams had been able too im just not sure if they are capable of scoring themselves so we could be in for a boring 0-0 game that goes to ET and possibly pens. I really hope Ronaldo scores a goal to give him confidence and also to get us the win
