      Exactly Trevor!!!! Same people roasting Ethan here for shoving, are the same people who roasted him folding JJ in that hand against Chase Bianchi in one of his vlogs a few months back when Chase fired the 3 barrel bluff. Everyone knows the perfect action when they can see all the cards.
      Landon is super capable and his 4 betting range in that exact spot is much wider than just QQ, KK, AA. It just happens that "THIS TIME" he has it.

      Overthinking... let’s count on one hand how many people are going to watch this, plus play against him, plus be in a spot where he flats the BB, then play a hand where it makes a difference if he has AK in particular in his range, and then adjust because they saw him do it once on TH-cam.

      15:15 Landon's AT hand begins. In the flop he pairs the Ace. A few hands later, 20:30 Landon receives AK. The reason he did not 3-bet is because he Knew AK would Not pair, because of AT 4AK previous. He 3-bet AT because he was able to Figure it would pair. The Reality of cards they will Never speak of.

    Rampage is an equity favourite against Landon's range, assuming Landon can 4bet a ton of broadway combos and suited wheel aces here. He's crushed by over pairs, of course, but there are fewer combos.
    It seems like folding is out of the question here, and cold calling isn't great either - I think it makes his range pretty transparent (what cold calls here? 10s, JJ, maybe QQ at some small frequency?) I really don't hate shoving.

    • @synchronium24
      @synchronium24 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The problem is even if Landon has a lot of bluffs that fold, his calling range is AK (flipping) and QQ+ (crushes JJ). Plus the opener and 3 bettor remain uncapped.
      "It seems like folding is out of the question here, and cold calling isn't great either "
      I'm fairly convinced after reading some other comments that a fold is best. Though, without the benefit of that information, I would have cold called in Rampage's shoes.

    The natural 4bet bluffs for Landon in the SB vs a raise and 3bet from the Cut Off and Button include a large number of AJo. With this double blocked by JJ it makes this an even easier fold - I honestly would prefer to have TT in the BB defending against a 4bet from the SB in this configuration - which seems weird, I know!

  • @qazzaqstan
    @qazzaqstan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The shove with JJ is interesting, it is basically a bluff because your best case scenario you are up against AK and you are getting crushed by AA KK (and depending on how wide Landon defends QQ). If Rampage thinks Landon gets out of line and 4-bets with something like 5% of hands due to the table getting a bit too loose or simply playing against 4-bets poorly it is probably a borderline profitable shove. If Landon in 4-betting with something more like 3.5%-4.2% of hands it is not great especially when you take into account there is a slight chance CO or B has AA (and B might defend KK).

  • @MrSamiosa
    @MrSamiosa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What everyone in the comments is missing is that regardless of whether or not Ethan's jam with JJ was the right play, he clearly has no idea how to quickly and accurately think through even relatively simple spots. Notice the language he uses. It's all emotional thinking mixed with vague, subjective nonsense. I like his videos, and I have no doubt he's a winning player at 1/2, but the guy is simply outclassed here (seems like he knows that as well). If I were him, I'd be putting a huge emphasis on studying, and much less on continuing to grind out low stakes live poker with a clearly incomplete strategy.

    I enjoy Ethan’s vlog, but jamming JJ in that exact spot seems a bit terrible. Matt and Trevor could be holding top of range as well, along with the tall orange giraffe 🦒 and his AA. Landon seems like a nice young player, a bit cocky. He has his hands full with Perk come June. You can’t bluff billionaires 🤩

    • @pabl1to33

      Matt and Trevor could be holding top of range. Ofc they could be dealt premiums every hand, they could be cheating, heck they might be from another planet. Have you watched any other episode? Have you seen how loose these two players are? Dont you think Landon could exploit that by 4 betting light in that spot? Think again.

    • @Dyl3423
      @Dyl3423 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If anyone’s 4 betting light it’s Landon. And the 4 bets huge. It’s either jam or fold and it’s probably fold but if he jams and landon has A4s rampage looks like a genius. If he folds JJ and he has the best hand he’d still get hated on. No wonder everyone says he’s not improving he spends too much time listening to chat pros who give wrong opinions

      You're probably doing it because you're a nit and because "AK is a drawing hand." He's doing it because it's a tight configuration and they are 200bb deep.

    I don't understand Ethan's play here. JJ is a pretty easy fold in this spot. The very worst hand that Landon is doing this with is A5s or AQo and JJ isn't even crushing either of those holdings. But Landon most definitely will have AA/KK/QQ here a lot. Plus the CO and BTN are still uncapped. I think he just expects to be bailed out with a set because his life experience has taught him that if you have a pocket pair you're going to hit a set 90% of the time.

    This is a fantastic format of poker and the quality is great. Would of course be more interesting to see a similar production with players at a higher level, although they might not do it with an honest and in depth thought process out loud for free

    I'm just curious, is it reasonable for Ethan to float with Jack's there against Landon in position? or is it a straight fold

    • @bobbyDD
      @bobbyDD 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      in a tournament its a jam or fold id say. in cash games you could float bc of the implied odds of hitting a set. if you miss the flop its easy to get away from with 3 possible overs to your pair. obv 200-300 bb deep you are not jamming pocket jacks in a tournament ever especially to a cold 4 ball from the sb. the 4 bet sizing of 375 doesnt even give you great odds to call if you’re in this exact scenario. it seems like a very easy fold unless you have seen landon 4b light multiple times and even then its just straight up not worth the price to play. thats my take atleast.

    • @maximo6037
      @maximo6037 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bobbyDD also you can use the board texture to get Aces to fold in some cases using reverse gto logic. I think a shove is really bad because you fold out bluffs and weaker hands and get snapped by monsters and also now don't have ability to use your skill to outplay your opponent on the streets. I think ethan is scared to get outplayed on the streets against landon or marle so he wanted to autopilot the hand. Folding q10 against marle was another example imo

    I don't really understand shipping it with JJ are there. I know Ethan tried to explain it but it just doesn't make any sense to me. That move is literally folding out everything worse and only being called by better, or in the case of Ace King Suited, a flip

  • @seanhettenbach2101

    JJ is a flat at best, but you still get it in on the flop there, speaking in terms of GTO... Now if you had just a read you might be able to get away from it on the flop, but most of the time, we're just getting stacked there in that position.

      A hijack opening range is normally pretty wide unless you are against a nit, ethan just flatted in the small blind so you can guarantee his hand isn't very strong either. Just calling with A6 would be the bad play here

    • @J0K3RJAKE
      @J0K3RJAKE 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probabilities are Real. Intrinsically defined, there is a mathematical system by which all hands are dealt. After discovering this fact, I refined a surveyor which unveils reality. A6 is most viable when you are due a pair or better. This can be figured by previous occurrences. This, is how they do it, for the most part.

    15:15 Landon's AT hand begins. In the flop he pairs the Ace. The very next hand, 20:30 Landon receives AK. The reason he did not 3-bet is because he Knew AK would Not pair, because of AT 4AK previous. He 3-bet AT because he was able to Figure it would pair. The Reality of cards they will Never speak of.

Also it's a show so no real money to play for. I'm confused. Great premise to try, just watch eathans vlogs. Does that perfectly by himself.
