    I live in Austin TX and went to my very first poker room in my entire life. it was $1/$2 with $300 buy in. I walked out with $997 and was blown away that I made almost $700 my very first time playing. Thanks for the videos. They gave me the confidence to sit down with a table full of strangers versus friends. Going back tonight to find out if it was beginner's luck or solid playing. If I win again I am going to start playing everyday. If I can make just $100 day that's $3000 month and life changing money for me.

    I had a similar day on Sunday. I bought in for $300 and cashed out for $1739. I kept getting small pocket pairs and was set mining a lot. And I hit it 3 times. One of the times I had 66 with a little over $600 in my stack, and the flop came out 226. The BB lead out for $60. I min raised to $120. The guy to my left shipped it all-in for a little over $500. Then the btn pushed all-in for 184. BB folded and I called. Run out was a 3 and a 4. My boat held and took down a huge pot for 1-2nl. I also hit 2 flushes and a couple of straights. Won a few hands with top pair. Near the end of the day I rivered a straight with 3 diamonds on the board and 2 players. It checks to me so I bet $50 and one guy calls then the other folds. I showed my straight and the guy who folded was mad because he folded 2 small diamonds. Apparently I had been running so good he thought I had to have a bigger flush with a $50 bet on the river. Which $50 was close to a pot sized bet. It's crazy how when you're running good people just assume you have it and fold almost anything.

    Still a little too loose on the preflop range for my taste, but when you're hot you're hot, and you seem to have a nice feel with your post flop play where you dont get too married to your hands. Keep up the good work man, seems that you are starting to grow and gain some subs!

    • @HuggiePoker
      @HuggiePoker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Mark!
      I've noticed I have a tendency to play tighter earlier and loosen up more as I get a bigger stack. I guess I just shift my play as the table dynamic changes. Interestingly, some of the hands you saw me raise in this episode, I actually folded the same hand earlier in the session.
      You're absolutely right about not getting married to hands, I think the best example might have been either my QQ or Q8 lay down from this session. I'm working on getting better at folding instead of trying to hero call everything. 🙂

      @@HuggiePoker dynamics of the table definitely play a big role on what you can play preflop profitably for sure as well, just with a little more added variance. Very cool videos..love poker!!! just not very good at it. Would love if you would take a min or two each video and explain some of the terms you use...for example a wet board vs a dry board or what does under the gun mean? what is a straddle? just trying to learn more as i go..thanks

    • @HuggiePoker
      @HuggiePoker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, thanks for watching! I can help explain some of those terms now.
      Wet board = coordinated cards in either suit or rank (or both). For example, QJ7 w/ 2 spades would be a wet flop since there is both a possible straight draw & a possible flush draw. A flop like like JT9 all hearts would be *very* wet.
      Dry board = the opposite of a wet board. Q72 rainbow would be very dry since there are no straight draws and no flush draws.
      Under the gun (UTG) = the first player to act. There are names for all positions at the table. At a 9-handed table w/ the button at seat 1, the seats would be named: button, small blind (SB), big blind (BB), under the gun (UTG), UTG+1 (or just +1), UTG+2 (+2), middle position (MP), lojack (LJ), hijack (HJ), & cutoff (CO).
      A straddle is when someone essentially chooses to pay an extra blind that must be at least double the previous blind or straddle, but it allows them to have the last action. The card room I play at only allows straddles to go clockwise from the BB, but some places let you straddle from anywhere or the button specifically. I don't really know how those work since I've never seen them.

      @@HuggiePoker Thanks. That's super sweet of your wife. Also a fan of the movies. Super cool coin. Do you think using the coin affects how people see you on the table - meaning, does it give away you may not be a rec player, or are these coins on the table common? I guess if I think about it you already have a camera which would be a bigger tip off. Thanks for the content.

    Should have re raised to $100+ when he bet 30 and you had top 2 pair. You wanted a fold from him not a float along. The straight was there, you didn’t want it catching up and it did.

      They do that at the places I've played at in Texas, not sure if they do that everywhere around here though.

      They do it at games where there is no rake. There is no legal take in Texas.

    I know why this popped up in my feed.. Just saw your title and then the preview of you throwing $2 tip after scooping in like $500 😅. Please tip according to the pot size at least jeeze. Dealers in texas make like $7/hour if you don't tip them.. you can't have a game without a dealer remember that.

    Hey Brother! Just a curios question, I see your hand in frame shakes sometimes, is it because you are cold and/or nervous? I only ask because when I start to gamble, pretty much anywhere (poker, black jack, etc.) I tend to shake like I'm cold but I'm not, and I'm sure it's not nerves but not sure why I do

    • @HuggiePoker
      @HuggiePoker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting you say that. I used to have that on earlier sessions relating to nerves/excitement/etc. As I've warmed up to the game again over the past few months, I don't think my hand is shaking for any of those reasons. I honestly didn't even notice it shaking in this session, so I'm assuming it was probably just the way I was leaning on my arm or something along those lines.

    What do you mean by "the tips and the hourly rate"
    you have to pay hourly to play poker? Is it like a weird form of rake?

    • @HuggiePoker
      @HuggiePoker  ปีที่แล้ว

      The poker clubs in Texas charge a membership fee (daily or monthly, typically) as well as an hourly fee for the seat. This is because taking a rake from a pot is illegal here, instead you're paying to be a member of a club.

      If I'm raising hands that aren't aces, then I'm definitely raising when I do have aces as well. Not allowing your opponents to know what you're raising is an important part of being successful as an aggressive player.
