This is great work. I RC drift in Chicago and we could use some vid work like this for our club. For those who want to know what song this is its The Chemical Brothers - Hey Boy Hey Girl Silver Surfer Remix.
1,000,000 Views! Awesome. Congratulations to Rid and all the *original* members who came over from the Hope Island Markets to grow our little club at the GC Compound - it sure was fun while it lasted!
Sprint 2 is actually damn reliable from my own personal experience. I've had one for 5+ years now, recently sold it, but the car never broke on me during lots of abuse. For drifting, you aren't going to break much, cause the speeds are already pretty low, and the better part about the Sprint 2 over the Sakura is that parts are readily available at any local hobby store. As long as you maintain it every couple months when need be, you shouldnt have any durability issues with any vehicle
depends on how deep you wanna go. Sprint 2 or TT01 is a good cheap starter on-road both grip/drift driving, or a Sakura D3 CS Drift for dedicated drifting.
@raycortinas1 The HPI Cars are Ready to run (RTR) ISP you can pull it out of the box, charge the battery and use it. The tamiya cars come in a few different packages. They have some RTR stuff and some that are kits which you must assemble your self.
HPI and Tamiya both have some good starter kits, The HPI E10 Drift, and the Tamiya TT-01 are roughly equivalent but the Tamiya has more upgrade capability. Personally, I would look into a HPI Sprint 2 Drift to start. They aren't much more expensive than the E10, but give you a much more upgradable chassis to start with. Something important to keep in mind is the availability of parts in your area. If your Local Hobby Shop Stocks Tamiya, pick up the tamiya, and vice versa.
The first gen ones did have issues, mainly with the rear belt, so I personally cut out a part of the rear diff protector, and it solved the problem. I know where you got that from, if you research it, you'll find that people had to change rear belts every month cause of a design error that lead to rubbing.
@keyton37, the cars you are seeing range from around AU$400-$1000 approximately. This may not include a transmitter in some cases. Of course you can purchase cars or complete kits for less, however, if you get into drifting on a regular basis, you may end up replacing some or all of the less expensive kits. Research as much as you can before buying.
I like the yellow hatch back the best, with responsive brake lights, and the exhaust led to simulate fire, very nice. The red and blue ones with the stickers looked real. But like someone else mentioned. What about a late 30's/early forties truck, or an AE86, Old skool GTO, or other impossible drifter bodies? I mean, why let reality decide what you can drift?
The outer shells (bodies) are usually painted by the owner although when bought with a car, usually come pre painted. RC drift cars are manufactured by heaps of companies however the big ones would have to be Tamiya, HPI (and their sub group - Hot Bodies) and schumacher. Do a little research and you will probably be able to find a car in your price range. I hope that helps
Usually the best drivers will use a sensored brushless motor - speedpassion has a good selection at reasonable prices - search ebay (this of course will mean you 'll need a sensored ESC too, but it's well worth the investment!
Thanks, drill one or two 3-5mm holes in the muffler & put 1-2 orange or red FLASH LED lights in, hook up to Light Kit plug set for On when on the Throttle or Brake (doesn't matter which).
Hey mate awesome vid. What is a good rtr drifter? I have always been into offroad but I want to give drift a crack but I am struggling to find info on which car to start with.
GH2 camera with Manfrotto tripod plate attached and some stick on velco (smooth loop over side) covering the base of the tripod plate. The smoothness of the moves is thanks to the cement being very polished at that particular location. If you want to track a car, I have seen other videos where the camera is attached to a swivel mop, track and/or follow the drift cars, swivel the mop for camera move around corners and reposition front, back and behind the cars...
Put a 3mm FLASH Orange or Red LED or both into your exaust pipe & plug into a random flashing slot on your LED Light Kit - works a treat (2 is better than 1)
@Speedradesigns sorry no I can't but I wouldn't reccomend them - go for a mid priced car like the Tamiya VDF or 416 or my personal preference the Team Associated TC6, you can't go wrong!
lane anderson Actually, rwd isn't really a good choice for a beginner. It would spin out easily. The more common is 4wd since it's more stable and way better all around (especially for beginners)
Craigslist or Ebay. I got mine at my local HS, but I was a noob at the time, didn't realize i overpaid like crazy. For a sprint 2, don't pay any more than $200 for a used one RTR.
course looks so fun, and setting it up with those ropes is GENIUS!
Great video guys. Footage and driving skills are awesome! Congratulations.
Drift Heaven. Lovely Video
I am in love with that S14 (correct me if im wrong) with the snow camo paint. Western Aus RC DRIFTING ftw!
Incredible what you do, both on RC drifting and video :) just starting from circuit racing to drift, you inspire me :)
Cant wait till I have all my parts and I am doing this. Hate the waiting part. Awsome to see people doing this more often now.

@ghosttjr2, yes, set up as 50/50 cars, and countersteer (CS) cars, usually with a front one way.

I believe you get more power out of the brushless motor and they are a bit more reliable. Correct me if I'm wrong someone.
Hey mate awesome vid. What is a good rtr drifter? I have always been into offroad but I want to give drift a crack but I am struggling to find info on which car to start with.

@Speedradesigns sorry no I can't but I wouldn't reccomend them - go for a mid priced car like the Tamiya VDF or 416 or my personal preference the Team Associated TC6, you can't go wrong!
soundtrack?
hey girl hey boy wich mix?
Love d red s15
what car is the red one with all the logos on it?
what camera was used on the car mounted shots?
I'm thinking of possibly starting to buld my very own drift car. Is 4wd a wise start?
nooooo. you would rather have a rear wheel drive if you can. it will help the drift. Although it is possible with 4wd, rwd is much better.
lane anderson Actually, rwd isn't really a good choice for a beginner. It would spin out easily. The more common is 4wd since it's more stable and way better all around (especially for beginners)
would you mind telling who makes these cars
Very good
Craigslist or Ebay. I got mine at my local HS, but I was a noob at the time, didn't realize i overpaid like crazy. For a sprint 2, don't pay any more than $200 for a used one RTR.
