Fantastic conversation between two beautiful and intelligent minds. I could listen to Marshall for hours! He’s so charismatic, charming and an engaging storyteller. Thanks for this video, Ivy
I love the conversation about the description of Folkloric Witchcraft in the US . For a lot of us the folklore isn't ours, but where our families came from doesn't really belong to us either, bc we were born here. I'm glad to see ppl crafting new traditions for a new generation. ❤❤❤
I listened to the interview for The Red Mother and immediately went ordered Cunning Words for my wife for Christmas. Now I’m coming back to listen to this interview.
Loved this! One of the first things I learned in Druidry that deeply resonated with me was around ancestral connection and how that didn't have to solely relate to the ancestry of your bloodline. Earth-based spirituality is a universal language, and we all learn from the same book. That book is written by the Earth herself, and it is written directly into nature. It is my belief that to learn from and honor the spirits of any given land is to honor all of the ancestors that came there before you, so long as you are not appropriating their experiences, of course. 💚
This was so awesome. I am an older "girl" but a baby witch. This set me on fire! Just loved it and help set me on a fantastic journey!!! Thank you so much.
I'm so happy to see you two do a video together. I don't do ticktock but I've seen Marshall on other people's videos and always resonate with the things he says (plus I just feel like he has a very centered energy which is comforting to my very chaotic energy) And Ivy, I don't have enough good things to say about you :) I love the information you bring to your platform
This was a life-giving conversation.....it feels like both of you are not just speaking with each other, but with US. Blessed be....thank you for this ❤
Sooooo absolutely inlove with Marshall's soul!! I just ordered this book, and admittedly it took me so long to want to read this book because I was fearful of it being like all the other ones and after watching him and you have an amazing conversation, I feel super excited to get the book because it seems finally a book of real Magick !! I can't wait! Ivy, thank you for being the real deal
I teared up when Marshall read his magical road opener! Thank you Ivy for your efforts and your sweetness! I will watch this video over and over .. great info on our practices! Muuuaah
Wowww I totally vibe with this, I never knew what to really call my practice, but I sooo relate to everything you said about folklore and mythology and land spirits etc and incorporating it in my own practice , love it ❤
You speak about mind palaces etc through Astral travel, meditation etc... but there is also similar work that can be done through writing these scenarios. It sounds like that is what Marshall tapped into through his writing. Awesome.
thank you ivy & marshall. this is an amazing learning experience. it's like being a witch is *living* folklore, and it can truly be a place of peace & power. - i totally agree with marshall on spirits vs gods, and really dig all the history and how it fits into the present time & practice. i'll be getting that book! -thank you again. 🪐
Hi! Great talk! Have you checked, if there is a link between the words "cunning" and the old norse word "Kenning". I think, they might have the same meaning origin.
Very good chat! He is correct in the since I view Trad Folklore Witchcraft as a path that is very culture, location based. Like I live in Sweden so what herbs, trees, etc that people are using, speaking of in like the UK or North America are simply not available here. Or as he said due to USA, the Americas in general are a land that is a re invented version of other places North America has created something unique of their own. Added in many TFW of the Americas N or S add in much Native aspects which both aspects make it where someone like me find it hard to relate or simply not connect or find interesting. And this is just true for anyone. I could not talk about doing a ritual at a Rune stone and think someone would relate to that as Rune stones are only in a few countries! He hee. So I think TFW is a path that people connect too more in personal way, but has made it not be able to be as widely practised. NOT a bad thing just is.
Thanks for doing this to you both I have been looking into different types of witchcraft and I’m getting in to folklore mythology and researching the stories around my home of the uk most people I tend to meet are bassed in Wicca or don’t actually explaine it well so this video really helped Marshall explains things so well been following you both a while now and I have learned so much from you guys so thanks again
You speak about using pop culture icons for spirit inspiration and I must confess I have debated using Alucard from Hellsing for curses . Also I have finally read up to the 2 part of the this lovely book as I have limited myself to only reading one or two of the stories per day or up to 30 minutes a day in the early am .
Awesome conversation and such a joy to listen to both of you speak about the compass of the book and practice as well as touching on topics that are not spoken enough about thank you 😊
So traditional is mainly folklore that is european. For my culture we have the Fa'afafine. They house both the male and female spirits forming a new gender. Traditionally, we were the keepers of the sacred. So I guess my question is, can you be culturally different and still be labeled a Traditional witch.
I'm so glad you two did another video. 😊 I love Marshall, but I am not on tiktok or Instagram. His voice is so comforting, I could listen to him all day. Wish he had a podcast on Amazon. ❤❤ You two collabing together? That would be FANTASTIC! 😅❤👍👍🃏🕯🌶🧄👻🔮🪄🧿
His voice is so comforting!! You are totally right. Also, he does have a podcast called "Southern Bramble" but I'm not sure what platforms his podcast is on. Maybe he's on Amazon! 😊
I loved every moment of this thank you both so much. As I live in the U.K. our folk tales, old apothecary books 📖 & myths really do influence my practice especially my interaction with plant & tree spirit allies & Spirits of place. I don’t label myself anything but Witch, or Solitary Witch if pushed for more clarification, but as I work with plant or tree matter all of the time for my witchcraft practice but also for medicinals I like to think there’s a bit of Cunning Folk in me 😊 I especially feel like that when tending to my baneful plant allies that can both harm & heal
I really enjoyed this video and love his book my biggest issue is I’m a witch far away from my land and my roots and feel no connection to where I live. I’m trying to find a way to connect. Going back and reading a Cornish book of Ways again and then the black toad then will reread Marshall’s book again. My mom is from Bristol England and my dad Bath England. To me very close to Cornwall and Devon and even though my parents birth places adopted Christianity long before Gemma’s I can’t but feel that the practices were once practiced in the places of my parents birth
Hi, I'm all caught up in this. This seems absolutely awesome. I'm from Canada, if I buy your book to study, can I use your spirit. Can they adapt to me. You really stimulate my want to work with your knowledge. ❤👋 Added your book to my purchase soon list. Thank you for this awesome video.
I have so many books to read. I decided not to buy anymore until I have caught up with the ones I have. Now I have to read this book. I thought I would be safe here as it is American and I am what you call British, which is in my case English. Also I read a book years ago written by those who started the cult of Tubal Cain. Put me right off. So I thought this would be interesting but not something I would take further than this video. Unfortunately this covers so many areas which also cover me, that I am going to have to read this book. In England we would say that it is right up my alley. I almost didn’t watch this video. It just shows how you can never tell where inspiration will strike. I am off to Amazon now. ❤

Anyone can look up folklore but it's more about whether you have a personal connection to that folklore or not.
