      That is awesome! Welcome to the wonderful world of lure painting and " from now on I only fish MY own lures" 😄 yea the sponge trick Is something I learned from an airbrush artist that paints on metal and murals and such. Really usefull when starting out, I found myself over time with experience have less and less problems with tipdry and so less need for the sponge. Now I use 2 fingernails to clean the needle if needed but that rarely is needed 👍 at some point you will find a sweet spot between airpressure, thinner and the climate you work in. And also depending on the brand of paint ofcourse

    Can hear the tip dry happening as well on how the air sounds coming out of tip of the airbrush.

    this might be a dumb ? Does all the createx paints have a ball inside the bottle ,if not whats a good size ball to put in. im still waiting for my order to come in . thanks love the content u do

    • @lureblanks
      @lureblanks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No that's not a dumb question at all, not all of the paints have a mixing ball, it depends on the paint type, I know lot of painters add airsoftgun balls in their bottles, the metal ones that are coated against rusting 👍 size does not really matter that much 😉

    You was talking about using 4030 . When lure painting. How are you using it? Are you not reducing your paints with 4011 reducer and using 4030 instead? Please explain

    • @lureblanks
      @lureblanks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 4030 balancing clear is not a reducer but a carrier, ( or medium if you like) I add 10-50% of 4030 to my paint (depending on how transparent or opaque I want my paint to be) and mix that with a little 4011 (about 10%-15%)
      Because 4030 is a little on the thick side and need a little reducing in my opinion.
      The 4030 changes the composition of your acrylic paint to a waterbased urethane paint. Which has better spay ability and much better adhesion. Also does it dry to more plastic like substance which is much stronger then paint without 4030.
      So 4011 and 4030 are 2 totally different products 👍

    • @fishingwithhoffman7365
      @fishingwithhoffman7365 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lureblanks exactly. So everytime you paint you are basically adding a drop of 4011 and a drop of 4030 to your paint every time right? Even base coat? And that slows down dry tip right?

    • @lureblanks
      @lureblanks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fishingwithhoffman7365 Yes that is correct, especially base coats , because we want that very first coat to addhere well. Or else all the rest that addheres to the base coat is in vain anyway if the base coat is not adhering well 👍

    • @fishingwithhoffman7365
      @fishingwithhoffman7365 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lureblanks awesome thank you glad you said this i got a big bottle 8oz that should help me alot. I had humidity yesterday and it was a mess. Was driving me crazy. I know its not the paint. But never thought to add 4030 that's great advice ty sir

    • @lureblanks
      @lureblanks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fishingwithhoffman7365 You are very welcome, humidity is a difficult thing to work with. Some say if it is really humid if works better with the 4012 reducer. But for me the 4012 causes more tip dry. But sometimes you got to experiment a little 👍

    What do you recommend for niddle size for a rookie? 0.3 or 0.5? Or bigger

    • @lureblanks
      @lureblanks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Around 0.3 -0.35 is a perfect start. It is good for doing a little larger areas like painting the whole lure body in a base color, but also fine enough to paint gills and finns 👍

    I'm using cerakote and when I turn on fluid and no air paint sticks to needle and then splatters do you know what problem is I used alcohol same thing

    • @lureblanks
      @lureblanks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Damen, This can be caused by a lot of factors, it is really hard to tell what the problem in this case would be. I suggest googling a little on the internet and following some troubleshooting steps. Iwata has a great troubleshooting webpage for this 👍
