I just got a DRZ125L and I'm very impressed with it. Compared to the CRF100 that I had before this, the DRZ is superior in every way, by quite a bit. The suspension (for a 125 trail bike) is excellent, very smooth and can take small jumps no problem. The brakes are also excellent, especially the front disk, but the rear drum is strong too. The handling is superb and the light weight of the bike is perfect.
I just bought my 10 year old a 2008 drz 125 ,he's 5'2" and it fits him perfectly for a first bike. It huals my 225 pounds around with no problem, im 5'9", . His only has the drum brakes but stops nice.
It is fun! I take my DRZ125L on the motocross track all the time, it does fine but it's impossible to hang with the bigger bikes, but who cares, it's still a lot of fun. The DRZ handles great, and comes with very good IRC motocross tires which helps a lot.
Designed as a beginner trail bike, but when you ride it, you can tell it's a lot more capable than just a beginner bike. It handles really well, has great suspension (for a trail bike), and the brakes are much, much better than something like a CRF100. You can actually ride this bike moderately hard and it has no problem doing it.

@@yacabus8211 it's a good size for 9-13 year olds.
