A few days ago I found out a cousin of mine was killed in the April 11th kamikaze attack on the Kidd, so this is a surprisingly timely Museum Ship Mafia topic for me haha
@@usskidd661Bernard Victor Kostelnik. I found his name on the Kidd website and a few others. Apparently he was a gunman on the starboard forward twin 40mm mount and joined the ship in January of 1945, but other than that I haven’t found much. In addition, he had a brother in law who was killed on the Quincy at Savo Island.
Dam it, I am going to have a hard time watching this after Tim made the comment about the average rivet being 3/8ths of an inch and other spots being 9/16ths so paper thin. It drives me crazy when Americans don't know fractions and make stupid comments like that because 3/8ths if far smaller than 9/16ths and 12/ 16ths isn't a real fraction because that would be read as 3/4ths of an inch. AAARRRGGGHHH.

has it been decided YET how much steel or how many plates on the Hull of the KIDD will need to be replaced ?
@@richrdfieroii: Still being surveyed.
@@usskidd661 Thank you.
The ship I’d like to see from WW 2 would be the USS Gambier Bay my father Kenneth McLaughlin served in her during the Battle off Samar.
I AGREE with TIM on USS CABOT ! NEW ORLEANS aka the CHOCOLATE CITY, is a ceespool of Corruption, Losing USS Cabot was a National Tragedy !
It is going to take another 1,000 years to fix the old boat.
@@LINJ638: Dog years, maybe.
ARE we going to discuss the " RED SEATS " in the HEAD ? LOL
@richrdfieroii : Later, after we get home and after we fabricate the straddle sink and put the prophylactic station back in place. 😷🧤💉

Ask Travis over at Texas about people and “rudder fixation”
OH PLEASE dont !
We don't have to. We've watched it, and with NEW JERSEY too. 🙄
