Have not yet had a chance to watch the entire thing but knowing Parks' interest and his love of naval history, and specifically this heroic story, I have no doubt it is fantastic. I'm sure my grandfather would have loved it
Kidd team, you guys are probably my favorite destroyer meusum out there. Love content like this because it really makes my day during long hours at work! So much respect for the Fallen sailors on both sides of the Battle. May they all be forever remembered.
Excellent video! The tribute to the bravery at the Battle of Samar is moving and informative. The storytelling honors the courage of those involved. Great work commemorating this important anniversary!
Beautiful documentary! I absolutely love it and thanks for sharing all those amazing parts of history on this 80th anniversary of the battle off Samar. I have just learned today that there were two Iowan brothers that were served on board USS Hoel DD 533 that they both sadly passed away on board during the battle. Maybe sometime you guys can find her they’ll be awesome shipwrecked to find.
I would of loved to seen the reaction of the gentlemen of the USS Johnston who's stories are told here, and who have since passed, to the recent footage of their ship nearly four miles below the surface of the ocean, still with her gun and torpedo mounts trained out, looking almost as if she went down yesterday.
The use of noise canceling audio in remastering these recordings has degraded the experience. It is rampant, and even back in the 90s they didn't understand how irritating it is for a lot of people to listen to
He did, he passed in 1969 when I was 3. I did have the honor of meeting his shipmates at a reunion in 1980 one of which we had been buying produce from at the local farmers market and didn’t know it.
Outstanding documentary of the event, the search for the final resting place of the Johnston and Sam B. Closes the book of my learning, first through Hornfischer's great fictional accounts to TH-cam searches, Drachinfel's presentations about the courageous officers and crews. A fitting memorial companion to USS Arizona. Thank you all.
Such an amazing story! This story deserves a lot more popularity in our culture. Just as much, if not more, than the Battle of Midway.
Terrific video! The best account I've seen of the gallant action of the "tin cans" of Taffy 3 in the Battle off Samar.
Well done video! Congrats to USS Kidd and everyone who shared their passion for this battle and sacrifices!

The wrecks look remarkably preserved. I don’t see ANY corrosion.
