The Bionicle reboot takes place in the same timeline as the original, just far into the future. The top half of the mask of time is shown in a comic, mentioned to exist long before Okoto (where the reboot takes place). Overall, I'm happy we got something, but it didn't feel that much like Bionicle.
G1 had so many names that without doing research would leave any one confused. That's why I love it. Also the green ones were always the best. Like Lewa, Kongu, etc

Bara Magna is not an island The first Bionicle books were written by C.A. Hapka, not Greg. None of the games past 2003 are canon and they don't tell the official stories at all. The prototype robot was made by the Agori. Bohrok were great.

Well, this was an amazing nostalgia trip :) Also, I was under the impression that people also disliked hero factory since bionicle was still in the middle of telling a new story through the books and were in the process for setting up a new enemy as well as the fact that there were a few characters missing and unaccounted for who were going to be brought back. Hero factory's arrival killed any chances of seeing how all that would play out.
You're far from alone in your love and nostalgia for this line my friend. I got into the series in 2006, remember getting all the inika for my birthday after some of my classmates got them, and it escalated from there, used to have over 100, now its just 4 (sold them all on eBay). I'm glad that bigger channels such as your's can bring more attention to this masterpiece of a series.
I only got into Bionicle *AFTER* it ended X_X The Bohrok are pretty scary (and kinda sad) when you find out that they were in fact Av Matoran after their lifespan ended. Also, the Piraka from the Stars line is Nektann, a Skakdi warrior who was even the leader of the Skakdi for a time.

Being an absolute die hard fan of Bionicle, I was amazed when he put this video out. It seems that a fan of this series is really hard to come by, like Godzilla. Godzilla and Bionicle are probably the two most important fictional things in my life.

Hello Diamondbolt! I don't think I've seen someone express the passion for BIONICLE that so many of us have. I was around the age of 13 when I arrived in the Phantoka Era, and as I went along I scowered EBay for the older sets. I proudly display my Visorak and (Yo Yo) Priaka on shelves in my home, and I'm proud of it. As I went back and looked over the lore and history, BIONICLE taught me so many things about characterization, story and drama. The passion that was so clearly poured into making the line so much more than just another marketing ploy was incredible, and now that I look back, I can still remember so many characters, stories, locations, emotoins and sensations that I felt while I was going through the series. BIOINCLE means so much to me, and so many others, and I'm so glad to see somebody who shares that same notion. Thank you, Diamondbolt! As we go forward, we'll remember the three virtues: Unity, Duty and Destiny.

Though we didn't get a movie for the Toa Inika and Mahri, we do have a TH-cam channel brave and creative enough to make two fan made films called Bionicle Ignition and Ignition 2. I also got into Bionicle sometime in 08-09, and got back into it last year from nostalgia. Not only does it still hold up after all these years, it's even better then it was to me back in the day. I love the characters and stories that it was able to tell and I believe without Bionicle I'd be a VERY different person.
And the worst part is, he has been stuck on 45k for quite some time, and we NEED to get past 50K to see the almighty, the gorgeous, Ruined Forever Energon. Damn it, I am impatient > : (

I remember watching The Legend Reborn every night and seeing this video was a nostalgic one, although I never was a huge fan for bionicle I just remember all the toys I used to have and the movies I watched and I'm glad you made this video so I can remember so many great times!
I grew up on this series, this was my introduction to Lego, one of my strongest memories of my great grandmother was her giving me my first bionicle set. This is truly special to a lot of people, myself included, I understand that this series has its flaws and haters even, but I will always have a special place in my heart. People have tried and failed to change my opinion, for this is my childhood, not Godzilla or iron man but this and halo. They gave me the best childhood ever, and me and my friends (keep in mind we are teenagers) still break out the old bionicle set and tell stories with them ( we study drama so it helps). This was a great bridge back to my younger years, thank you sincerely DB, sub and wort wort wort.
All we can say is, yo yo Bionicle, you were a beast on the move, a bullying coming through. A tricker, a tracer, and the world couldn't keep up with you. That may have just taken the prize for the most cancerous thing I've ever said.
The series was incredible and I had the fortune of being involved in it from the inception. Now, while you may not be able to do a "terrible commercial" video of them, why not an *Awesome* commercial of them? Each commercial contained a segment of lore and as the years went one, they became even more well made, with The Inikia and Creeps from the Deep having ENTIRE music videos made of them. I do wish a more proper game of the original series was made, allowing you to use the 6 toa and their powers proper, but the game based on that was... well... I 100%ed it in about 2 hours and was gravely disappointed. The set that is probably the rarest that I own is the Manas; a set of two motor powered crab things that run on treads. They were notable in that the toa had to use their combiner forms in order to beat them. This lead into the first fight vs Makuta, where the 6 toa used their powers to beat him, but instead of victory, they were met with Makuta saying: *You cannot defeat me. For I am nothing.* Before he vanished. That simple aspect of him being so damn smart and attaining victory numerous times put him as probably my favorite villain of the series, and even in the ending, it was only through a teamwork of lucky chances that he was slain, yet even at that, Mata Nui deeply mourned the loss of his brother.
As someone who (unfortunately) didn't get into this series till Stars, this is what was going through my head: "cool designs, annoying pieces... Nice masks interesting char OMG IS THAT TAHU?" Quality content once again DB

Bionicle has always been and always will be my favorite childhood toy. Played a huge role in my childhood. Bionicle felt more than just a toyline. It was an incredible story of adventure, peril, friendship, and meaning. That Good will always triumph over evil. Everyone and everything has a purpose in life. No matter what lies ahead, no matter what obstacle is in the way, you can overcome it with friends by your side and believing in yourself. I'm glad it was part of my childhood and it told the story in wanted to.
This series taught me the importance of good story, characters and world building. I will always be greetful for the existence of Bionicle. It is still with me, whenever i draw or write characters or establish a new world in my head. I still wonder about my favourite Bionicles and often find myself imagne new adventures for them. So... yeah, this is one of my most important stories in my life and i will always remember it. (And not the abomination, what was supposed to revive it... god i wish i would never see that :s) Thank you, this video was awesome. :)
I grew up on Bionicle, was never able to get the figures until around when the Mahri series came out though. I’ve always wanted to get some of the original Mata series of Toa.
I used to deadass camp out on the Bionicle website waiting for new animations to go live during the Toa Hordika phase. It's hilarious in hind sight, because my dial-up internet was so slow, that those animations took literally 20 minutes to load. Now I don't even see the load bar when I try to watch them. They're instantly loaded 100%. It just goes to show how special this franchise was to me as a kid, because I was willing to wait nearly half an hour, just to watch the newest 2 minute flash animation of my favorite characters.

This universe is great and exquisitely detailed. I have three questions to you about this franchise: Will you make a video about the books because I've never even heard about them before your videos. Secondly, who is your favorite Toa (mine's a split between Takanuva and Tahu, they are both awesome)? And finally, will you be playing Bionicle Heroes on the channel after FOC? I'm tossing around the idea of playing Heroes eventually. I would really like to but I don't know if it'd be interesting enough for an entire series. My favorite Toa is either Kopaka or Tahu, with Jaller being second best. And I won't make a video about the books as I wouldn't have enough to cover for an entire video, but I can tell you I absolutely love them.

Baraki were the best set in my opinion. I always got chills during the animated commercials and just stood watching in awe as these biomechanics sea creatures fought for a mask of great power. Plus that song.... best thing was the inclusion of amazing music in each commercial.
With you on the love of the Bionicle line, even if my experience is about polar opposite of yours. I got into the line right from the start, maybe even a bit earlier since I was at Legoland I think before the line hit stores and they were selling the Toa already. I got Kopaka and Onua, instant love of the stuff. I kept somewhat on top of the line, story and toy wise, for some years afterwards. Though only going from the comics that came with the lego magazine at the time that told a lot but had some parts seemingly left vague or left in other sources, a few of the Metru nui stories kept having asterisk points to say 'this happened here, in this book by scholastic' pop up a few times a comic. I started to fall out with the series around the '08 line and really out of it by the Glatorians stuff so never found out how things ended, glad to hear it didn't just leave things unfinished so thanks for that. Nice retrospective overall, although small mistake in that by the time the Toa became Toa Nuva the Bohrak were largely beaten, the Bohrak kai were the first new threat that stole the Toas elemental powers in an attempt to revive the Bahrag
It's curious how something meant to promote a product can end up being a strong narrative, or at the least something a generation may treasure. Hell, I wager Batman was once considered a disposable thing, but now he's both widely known and has a rabid fan base. When it becomes someone's 'thing', it becomes more than just a product.

Though we didn't get a movie for the Toa Inika and Mahri, we do have a TH-cam channel brave and creative enough to make two fan made films called Bionicle Ignition and Ignition 2. Which were absolutely great in my opinion because both movies had Easter eggs hidden in the movie, and followed the narrative of both storylines.

I also got into Bionicle sometime in 08-09, and got back into it last year from nostalgia. Not only does it still hold up after all these years, it's even better then it was to me back in the day. I love the characters and stories that it was able to tell and I believe without Bionicle I'd be a VERY different person.

I got into bionicle through hero factory which I got into during savage planet
I still remember waiting 45 minutes for my dial-up connection to load the trailer for the Toa Mahri, just to wait another ten minutes to watch it again. Man 240p was the best!

I remember watching The Legend Reborn every night and seeing this video was a nostalgic one, although I never was a huge fan for bionicle I just remember all the toys I used to have and the movies I watched and I'm glad you made this video so I can remember so many great times!

I grew up on this series, this was my introduction to Lego, one of my strongest memories of my great grandmother was her giving me my first bionicle set. This is truly special to a lot of people, myself included, I understand that this series has its flaws and haters even, but I will always have a special place in my heart. People have tried and failed to change my opinion, for this is my childhood, not Godzilla or iron man but this and halo. They gave me the best childhood ever, and me and my friends (keep in mind we are teenagers) still break out the old bionicle set and tell stories with them ( we study drama so it helps). This was a great bridge back to my younger years, thank you sincerely DB, sub and wort wort wort.
All we can say is, yo yo Bionicle, you were a beast on the move, a bullying coming through. A tricker, a tracer, and the world couldn't keep up with you. That may have just taken the prize for the most cancerous thing I've ever said.

The series was incredible and I had the fortune of being involved in it from the inception. Now, while you may not be able to do a "terrible commercial" video of them, why not an *Awesome* commercial of them? Each commercial contained a segment of lore and as the years went one, they became even more well made, with The Inikia and Creeps from the Deep having ENTIRE music videos made of them.
I do wish a more proper game of the original series was made, allowing you to use the 6 toa and their powers proper, but the game based on that was... well... I 100%ed it in about 2 hours and was gravely disappointed.
The set that is probably the rarest that I own is the Manas; a set of two motor powered crab things that run on treads. They were notable in that the toa had to use their combiner forms in order to beat them. This lead into the first fight vs Makuta, where the 6 toa used their powers to beat him, but instead of victory, they were met with Makuta saying:
*You cannot defeat me. For I am nothing.*
Before he vanished. That simple aspect of him being so damn smart and attaining victory numerous times put him as probably my favorite villain of the series, and even in the ending, it was only through a teamwork of lucky chances that he was slain, yet even at that, Mata Nui deeply mourned the loss of his brother.

Bionicle has always been and always will be my favorite childhood toy. Played a huge role in my childhood. Bionicle felt more than just a toyline. It was an incredible story of adventure, peril, friendship, and meaning. That Good will always triumph over evil. Everyone and everything has a purpose in life. No matter what lies ahead, no matter what obstacle is in the way, you can overcome it with friends by your side and believing in yourself. I'm glad it was part of my childhood and it told the story in wanted to.

It's true though. Kopaka was the true god of Bionicle. Mata Nui was his proxy.
This series taught me the importance of good story, characters and world building. I will always be greetful for the existence of Bionicle. It is still with me, whenever i draw or write characters or establish a new world in my head. I still wonder about my favourite Bionicles and often find myself imagne new adventures for them. So... yeah, this is one of my most important stories in my life and i will always remember it. (And not the abomination, what was supposed to revive it... god i wish i would never see that :s) Thank you, this video was awesome. :)
I grew up on Bionicle, was never able to get the figures until around when the Mahri series came out though. I’ve always wanted to get some of the original Mata series of Toa.
My favorite Bionicle toy line is the Toa Mahri. I’m a sucker to anything ocean related

I used to deadass camp out on the Bionicle website waiting for new animations to go live during the Toa Hordika phase.
It's hilarious in hind sight, because my dial-up internet was so slow, that those animations took literally 20 minutes to load. Now I don't even see the load bar when I try to watch them. They're instantly loaded 100%.
It just goes to show how special this franchise was to me as a kid, because I was willing to wait nearly half an hour, just to watch the newest 2 minute flash animation of my favorite characters.
I was never into Bionicle, but I did see one of the movies. No clue witch one it was, maybe Mask of life. Still enjoyed the video.

I really appreciate this trip down memory lane DB! I didn't follow the story during and after the glatorian times, so I learned something new about the history of bionicle. This universe is great and exquisitely detailed. I have three questions to you about this franchise: Will you make a video about the books because I've never even heard about them before your videos. Secondly, who is your favorite Toa (mine's a split between Takanuva and Tahu, they are both awesome)? And finally, will you be playing Bionicle Heroes on the channel after FOC? Keep up the awesome work! :DDDD
I'm tossing around the idea of playing Heroes eventually. I would really like to but I don't know if it'd be interesting enough for an entire series. My favorite Toa is either Kopaka or Tahu, with Jaller being second best. And I won't make a video about the books as I wouldn't have enough to cover for an entire video, but I can tell you I absolutely love them.

Baraki were the best set in my opinion. I always got chills during the animated commercials and just stood watching in awe as these biomechanics sea creatures fought for a mask of great power. Plus that song.... best thing was the inclusion of amazing music in each commercial.
There was a comic to detail the finale. I don't remember the title, but it did exist

With you on the love of the Bionicle line, even if my experience is about polar opposite of yours. I got into the line right from the start, maybe even a bit earlier since I was at Legoland I think before the line hit stores and they were selling the Toa already. I got Kopaka and Onua, instant love of the stuff. I kept somewhat on top of the line, story and toy wise, for some years afterwards. Though only going from the comics that came with the lego magazine at the time that told a lot but had some parts seemingly left vague or left in other sources, a few of the Metru nui stories kept having asterisk points to say 'this happened here, in this book by scholastic' pop up a few times a comic. I started to fall out with the series around the '08 line and really out of it by the Glatorians stuff so never found out how things ended, glad to hear it didn't just leave things unfinished so thanks for that. Nice retrospective overall, although small mistake in that by the time the Toa became Toa Nuva the Bohrak were largely beaten, the Bohrak kai were the first new threat that stole the Toas elemental powers in an attempt to revive the Bahrag
It's curious how something meant to promote a product can end up being a strong narrative, or at the least something a generation may treasure. Hell, I wager Batman was once considered a disposable thing, but now he's both widely known and has a rabid fan base. When it becomes someone's 'thing', it becomes more than just a product.
