Port of a great SNES game called Super Mario World. Who does not know Super Mario World? It is an extremely good game and great success worldwide. As in previous games in the series, the script involves Mario traversing different lands on a quest to rescue Princess Peach, who was captured by Bowser. He also seizes the island of Dinosaurs, and imprisons its inhabitants in magical eggs, handing them over to his seven henchmen, the Koopalings! Mario and Luigi face challenges by 7 different worlds, until finally defeating once again the terrible Bowser and save the Princess and the inhabitants of the Island of the Dinosaurs. This version was released for the Game Boy Advance with modified gameplay (with real differentiation between Mario and Luigi), with the name Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2. Luigi can jump higher (but Mario runs more faster), when Luigi riding Yoshi can spit small enemies in others and also their small fireballs jump higher.
Many of the glitches in SNES version have been fixed in these port (like in the battles against Iggy and Larry Koopa) and not being able to eat the P button after stepping up and also, unlike the SNES version, you can not return to the castles after destroyed (in SNES version you can return to the destroyed castles pressing L+R and one other button). An great game. All exits encountered, all dragon coins collected (with a prize if you collected all), all stages open. -

I love how i got to experience all the classics on my GBA when i was a kid.. GBA's were so revolutionary...
Same here.
I still have mine so I play SMA4 sometimes.
man I loved that 32 bit fucker more then anything growing up
its a shame it didn't last as long as other systems
glad to got to experience the original NES games and SNES game. they were revolutionary.
Packed Punch I have the regular Gameboy, the Gameboy Color (mine was green), and the Gameboy Advance. I still play on all 3 of them. Good times, indeed.
0:28 Guys, when I tell you how much nostalgia that intro hit me with, it felt so weird, almost had tears in my eyes. Mario in Luigi both flying together across the land with their yellow capes...
this is the very first mario game ive ever played
Same!
Haha, me too! ^^
Me three!
and the best one
This is also the very first game I have ever played.
Finally, a game with an ACTUAL Luigi sprite
Super Mario bros 2 NES
Luigi's no longer green Mario
Luigi > Mario
Luigi in Mario All stars + Mario World has its own sprite
Matthias Walter also luigi mechanics
I like the gba version for having backstory
fleshing it out anyway...
GeminiCan #3208 I don’t mean to sound stupid but... what do you mean by “backstory”?
@@mackadoodless He meant by the opening cutscene in the game. Mario and company went for a vacation. And then peach got missing.
Rebel Fleet Trooper oh okay
I mean the original super mario world world had a back story
So, Luigi can jump higher, imagine Luigi riding Yoshi, jumping on a trampoline, jumping off of Yoshi, before doing his high jump thing.
+Cole Paisley That's higher than Trevor Phillips on Weed.
I just tried that on my gba
Why can’t the airship from Super Mario Maker be IN Super Mario World?
WOAH!

Watching this makes me feel like a kid. This was one of the games that took over my childhood.
I remember this game well, lots of good and bad memories trying to beat it. Still fun and nostalgic
Good LORD I feel old just watching this....
I'm 22 and I played this when i was 11.....good lord the nostalgia hits like a damn truck
+Frederick Glass hey im 35... i played this when i was like 20 (on the GBA) ...
+Frederick Glass in 10 yrs you gonna feel a LOT older....
(watching games like these on youtube),
you're a rooky right now
u not old , u a rookie, i wish i were 22 again...
+Frederick Glass i was 5 when i played this.....
yah i was like 4
I totally forgot i had this game! Ahh childhood memories
Monique T. I know right?
Monique T. Me to had this game but I broke my DS
So did I
Monique T. IKR?!
Monique T
Man...these were the days! I remember this was one of my all time faves 👌🏼
I was as old as I am know when I learned they Yoshi's Island-ed the way Yoshi worked in this version of the game...
sure brings back memories, i played this game on a gameboy my cousin gave to me when i was 7, completed it with all 96 exits, now im 18 watching this, its just too nostalgic
"Welcome to Dinosaur Land! It seems that Princess Toadstool is missing… and that means Bowser must be up to his old tricks again!"
I noticed the color scheme is a little pale compared to the SNES version...
Yeah, slight differences. At least I was able to enjoy the classics like this as a kid. I grew up in the early 2000's so I never had a SNES but they ported all the classics to GBA so i was able to experience them even though i grew up in a different "era". Really nice if you think about it. :)
I agree this was a great Idea for people in that era =3
I dunno I played this game on both the SNES and GBA and they looked identical to me. The overall package of the GBA version is a way better game
The original gba had no back light, therefore they added brightened everything to compensate.
Crusader ikr the gba is hand held and the snes is a TV consel and you can bring the gba everywhere and the snes
nope you just can't do that
When I was younger and I got pissed at the game, I would bite the corner of my Gameboy to relieve my anger. I wasn't weird at all...
Yanni Bozonelos I did that too!!! XD Gamer anger issues.
I thought I was the only one hahahah
Yanni Bozonelos Nah. I have literally broken my snes controller from doing that way back when. So no judgement.
We all did it dude
I HAD TO FILL IN MY BACK TOOTH BECAUSE OF IT.
When I played this as a kid I somehow managed to find all the secrets and get 100% completion. Looking back, I don't know how I did it. No internet, no guides, nothing.
This was my favorite GBA game next to the Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire series. I could play for hours on end
Yes! I finally found it! I've been trying to find out which was my first Mario game. The music in the intro is what made me remember.
Ahem, did you not look at the title
I didn't know what the title was. If I did, I don't think I would be searching for it.
Candy Corporation if Dry Bowser, Bowser Jr, Boom Boom, or Pom Pom would’ve been IN Super Mario World, THEY would’ve been IN that game!
Aren’t you listening to what I said about that, @@CandyCorporation
?
OK!
I was never very good at Super Mario World but I do enjoy playing it and watching others play too. I play this and the Snes version on my Wii U. 😊
I grew up with the GBA version of this game, so nostalgic.
This was my first GBA game ever. It was awesome. I actually had both the SNES and GBA versions when I was a kid.
Lucky! Just what I needed.
Every time I try to hear THAT complicated music from Avril, I get too curious, so with no circumstances, I decided to play Super Mario World. Playing Super Mario World’s better.
I was so happy when this game was ported to GBA. They even upgraded some textures and sound effects. This is one of the best games of all time in every category!
I love the subtle differences between playing Mario or Luigi.
Luigi goes higher easier when flying, jumps higher, and when he uses Yoshi, Yoshi can spit enemies back out. Overall, I still prefer Mario but I like the variation.
My stepdad had Super Mario World on Wii virtual console, but we also had the GBA cart laying around, which I played more. The VC release (which I never knew was actually a SNES game because I hadn't been exposed to the SNES at that point) was always weird because it didn't have the mario voice clips or that intro.
Those were the best times I ever had... 😊... a pity that they are over.
@jason smith um ok then
Why is it over? 😕 kid at heart always
Man i played this game when i was like 7 and could never remember the name of it. Glad i found after so long😭
holy shit! is it just me or the music in this verson really changed
The music sounds a little different because it's from a gamboy advance. The sound quality on them is not that great
it did
That makes complete sense. Thank you for that total nerd explanation. From: another nerd.

Wow, I didn't know this game had an opening cutscene!
"Darn it, we left the princess alone for FIVE SECONDS!"
This games music in comparison to the original mario world game is so much more happy, and i love it.
3:26:04 back when Bowser actually was a menace and was intense
I miss playing my gba games. That’s why bought an used one on eBay since there’s almost no games that I want to play on the Switch or 3DS that are out.
Militant Pacifist I’m buying my own cartridge off of Amazon.
Militant Pacifist it's not the games, its that you are poor, kid.
NintenPengu newer =/= better lmao stop. new super mario bros 2 and super mario bros u deluxe don’t hold a candle to mario world or even mario 3
Icy T. You are fucking kidding me right? Also super mario bros, super mario bros 3, and tomorrow super mario bros 2 are on switch online for only 20$ a year, cheaper than any physical gba port i found of them
NintenPengu you cant control what they want lmfao
I loved this version. So underrated compared to the SNES version.
Im crying seeing the gameplay of this. Before i used to be playing nintendo games like mario advanced 2 and mario kart. Now im playing gta 5 and overwatch. It feels so good seeing my childhood play out in front of me. I just wish my ds lite didnt break because i would love to play this game rn.
15 years of gameboy advance!!!
ahh childhood...
I love the graphics the graphics are amazing awsome I got this game in 2017 on may 1
Ahhhh the WIIU
I thought I had this game when I was younger but as I got older I thought it was a myth. Now I know it's actually really.
i remember playing this for the super nintendo when it first came out, i was like 10 and i thought it was the best thing ever. i love this game.
this game was very emotionally rewarding :D i remember playing this on the way to school with one of my friends we would take turns on each level
What an awesome final score! 3,146,450 points and 272 lives.
I remember when I used to sit in my bed and play this at my gameboy advanced for hours. I was 7 back then now I'm 22.
This was my first mario game I've ever played. I played this on the gba until I lost it ;( . I hope I'm getting another one this christmas!
The Miner we had the same situation
I have a game boy advance sp maybe I could try finding this game
Super Mario World on the GBA and SNES were both a big part of my childhood, along with other Mario games.
*Welcome to Dinosaur Land! It seems that Princess Toadstool is missing… and that means Bowser must be up to his old tricks again!*
brian jude jones i see you still come back to this video huh
Yep. That’s right.
Not Welcome
Too bad for you,@@alelauguz. It’s STILL part of my childhood…
I have both the SNES version and the gameboy one... I remember bringing the gameboy to an art fair and just playing it while eating a hot dog. Aah... Memories.
This was the first Mario game I’ve ever played and it has changed my life
Quintessential Mario game. No other game comes close.
Am I the only one who liked the voice acting in this game?
Me being younger than 18, i managed to grow up with this game.
@@RetroKidKnuckles Every time I try to hear THAT complicated music from Avril, I get too curious, so with no circumstances, I decided to play Super Mario World. Playing Super Mario World’s better.
I’d play Super Mario Land’s 1 & 2, though…
this game was the first game i ever played played its still a classic in my eyes oh 2008 i missed you so much
I just love how Mario punches Yoshi in the back of the head to stick his tongue out. Poor Yoshi :_(
Actually he points. I can prove this because Mario was pointing according to official SMW artwork.
It took me a lot to recover this game and now I've got it back in my hands
This is the first game I played on my GBA. I remember this was a Russian bootleg version with many grammar errors, such as spelling of word плащь (cape) instead of плащ.
How is anyone this good holy crap
Grałem w tą grę świetny jest ten remake ze snesa grafika i muzyka stoi na najwyższym poziomie
You Guys Rock Without You I Would Never Got All Green Stars In Super Mario 3D World Again Guys Rock
Gameboy Advance version is better than the Super NES.
Fun Fact: this was the first video I ever hit the like button on
stupid mario and luigi... they just HAD to go for a cape ride
If you think they are stupid, why is your profile icon the super mario bros. boxart?
Cannonball Burkeball just because i like the series doesnt mean i cant find them stupid :P it was just a joke about getting toadstool kidnapped again
It’s not reel dummy face
@BloodyandEnchained (OP)
Give them a break, how would they have known Bowser was already at Dinosaur Land?
Late comment, but once you have a Save File that has Bowser defeated, the opening cutscene changes.
1:50 best song EVER
Fun fact it’s a fun game
Bad game!
Dude, I used to play this game back in the day for Gameboy when I was 13 years old and my older brother used to play this game back in the day for Gameboy Advance too, this use to be one of our favorite games along time ago!
This is definitely the best Mario game of all time!
Me was one of my nolstagia 2D Mario games i used to play, back as a kid.
@@IvanFranco120 In "Fortune Street" for Nintendo Wii, if Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Wario, Waluigi, Daisy, Birdo, DK Diddy Kong, Bowser, Bowser Jr, and Toad appeared in THAT game, then questions are:
why isn't Toadette, Koopa Troopa, Koopa Paratroopa, Shy Guy, Boo, Goomba, Magikoopa, and Hammer Bro. get to be the playable characters in that game, why can't Toadsworth, Pianta, and Noki be the trio hosts in that game, and why can't they just name that game, "Mario Party: Fortune Street?"
No
I was talking to @IvanFranco120,@@alelauguz.
I remember playing this game over and over only to get as many points as I could.
I'm getting a GBA for my birthday
maximum punch tornado killer And? Get it?
I have a game boy advance sp
@jason smith You mean this game only or with a handheld console?
I got Super Mario World (GBA version) back around the spring or summer of 2002. I miss the GBA days. It was so much fun.
I just realized how many sounds were re-used from this in New Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart DS. (With better quality, obviously)
I remember Mario's "Let'sa go!" line from when he enters a level in the opening of Super Mario 64 DS after Luigi and Wario jump out of their pipes.
I like when Mario and Luigi have adventure together
I really liked the remake of this game better than the SNES version. The GBA's sound emulation is a bit gritty tho. This is probably the first GBA Mario game I ever played, but I lost it @ a ski resort in Vermont.
What I can't stand is that the chronological order of the SMA games is off:
1) SMA1, Super Mario Bros. 2 (origin release: 1988)
2) SMA2, Super Mario World !! (origin release: 1991
3) SMA3, Yoshi's Island; Super Mario World 2 (origin release: 1995)
4) SMA4, Super Mario Bros. 3 (origin release: 1990)
I don't like how the gba version gives you an extra hit.
10/10 reply
Craftyawesome
Well screw what you think, the power-up system on the SNES was messed up. If you were crushed by a ceiling in the original, you'd lose both your items.
Why I also never liked Super Mario Bros.
Yoshi eating dem fish like sushi is so relaxing
IF YOU NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS MARIO KART ETC GROWING UP THEN YOUR CHILDHOOD SUCKED
Oh shut up, Chip.
well i wasnt born in the 90s but i had a snes until the wii was released xD
+Maile TheGamer haha he wasn't been serious you punk
+Chip I grew up on Pac-Man and Defender, and the like. SNES came out when I was 16, so most of my childhood was gone. But I did purchase my SNES months after it came out.
+A rare fried potato that game came in 2006 is not even old I grew up with Super Mario world that game is from 1990
when i was young this was my fav game and i still love it 😁
the nostalgia :)
This was by far my favourite mario game
do you moon as 3up ?
So glad I grew up with this game tbh
It would be awesome for a Super Mario World HD remake for the Wii/Wii U.
***** No. We already have the original Mario world/Mario advanced 2 for the Wii U. An HD remake would ruin it.
FireFlaiXx Not if it's made by the right people. Games in the hands of great developers turn out well.
***** Thats the biggest lie i've ever heard. Also, why would we need a NEW one while we already have it for Virtual Console?
Why is it the biggest lie you've ever heard? Would you want a fucking shitty remake made by a company notorious for rushing the development process of their games? Nintendo takes time with their games, and that has been shown with many of their great projects we all know and love today.
***** My point is, just because the devs made a great game doesn't mean all games they'll make will also be great.
omg this game the improved upgrades, the music, playing super Mario world handheld I really want this game and I already have 1,3
I swear this game was the best it made my childhood magical anyone who disagrees is crazy. It was the best🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Ahh this was my childhood right here. I miss this game
On this version they added the Magikoopas at the credits but still missed the Ninjis and the Fuzzies
I like how you used both characters throughout the whole game .
I'm watching in 2017
Mikebrooks me to
Mikebrooks me too
Mikebrooks me to
good for you.
:v/
How cool was it to have a new sprite of classic Yoshi on the select screen in an era where sphere nosed, fat yoshi from Yoshi's story was the norm. I love this version of yoshi.
1:10:28 that Paratroopa just disappeared. 😳😳
This game design is actually what i liked. The next Super Mario Advance were pure trash.
Interesting that with the blue Yoshi you neved needed to use the P balloon. I was wondering if there was some voice when picking up that item in this version.
Shoutout to the game that introduced me to this glorious franchise
I swear, If I could, I'd high-five you.
Grew up with the original. Got this for my eleventh birthday. No regrets.
The haunted mansion music sounded much better on the SNES version.
+Joseph Holliday Top 10 things that make SMA2 SUPERIOR to Super Mario World:
10. You now have an inventory map(completely absent from SMW and only visible on SMB. 3's World map).
9. When you spin to crack blocks, you can now crack them with Yoshi.
8. Each secret Area has an assigned place where you can get a Yoshi.(Boshi is now in the Donut Plains Secret Area, where as in SMW you had to go ALL the way to Star Road to pick them up.)
7. You can now revisit Castles.
6. When ever you pass through a goal or enter a bonus stage, if you leave a Yoshi in a level, you'll still have him on the map. As long as he doesn't run away, you can keep him. In SMW, if you left him in the stage, you had to go all the way back to the Donut Plains area or Yoshi's Island to get him.
5. Yoshi can now spit ALL enemies at each other. This is very useful especially underwater. In SMW, he could only spit out shells.
4. The Cape can now kill 80% of the enemies. In SMW only half of them could be killed by it.
3. It no longer matters which Yoshi you have, any themed shell allows him to double both his ability and theme(Boshi can both fly with any shell and use their ability like stomp with the Yellow shell)
2. Whenever Yoshi has a shell, you now have up to 20 seconds to use it and can reuse it if he spits it out over and over again. In SMW, you get get 20 seconds and only one chance to use it, if he spits it out, it falls of the stage.
#1. The BEST feature, The Mario 3. life cycle. THREE hits instead of just 2. Originally in SMW, you got 2 hits and you die. Basically bringing back the original 2 hit method of Super Mario Bros. from 1985! Which made little sense seeing how the previous title 1989/1990's Super Mario Bros. 3(at least the Western version) introduced the 3 hit system. The 2 hit system makes gameplay arbitrary and causes ALOT of cheap deaths. This pet peeve drove me insane for 11 years and in 2002 I was PLEASED to see Nintendo finally fix this.
+Tornado1994
The Japanese version of SMB 3 was also a two-hit system; they changed that for the U.S. and European versions.
Tornado1994 I understand where you're coming from, but in my opinion a lot of those changes made the game way too easy. I felt the level of difficulty in the original SMW was just right for my tastes.
Joseph Holliday Really? It wasn't the difficulty curved that turned me off SMW, it was the fact that I felt like the game was supposed to be BETTER than SMB. 3, but it turned out to be INFERIOR, less stages, more bland and underwhelming level design, less secrets and few easter eggs, few powerups, unbalanced collision detection, and a very arbitrary life cycle. Even when I finally beat it after 3 weeks, I STILL felt unsatisfied. For Mario 3 when I beat it, I got 28 P-Wings for my hard work. What did I get for beating Super Mario World? The levels and Koopas look different. Umm....okay.
$200 in 1991 money. That's Four Hundred dollars today. I BEGGED my stepdad to spend $200 dollars for a NEW Super Nintendo, and this is what I got for Christmas. As a consumer and kid gamer, I was dissapointed in Nintendo. Not in the console, but the game that came with it. Even more that I purposely broke my NES just so I could convince my stepdad to upgrade.
What an underwhelming, overhyped letdown of a launch game.
ClassicTVMan1981X I know it was. Nintendo of America introduced the 3 hit system in 1989. They did US a FAVOR. Also the 1992 PAL version of SMW left the 3 hit system from Mario 3 intact. Why didn't NOA do the same?
This particular version of SMW may be the best 2D Mario game ever, if not the best Mario game yet.
the graphics of the GBA is so good!
Some sound effects in the game were used the New Super Mario Bros. Series
John Schuster Such as the power down sound effect.
Ha! Do you expect ME to believe that story? Dry Bowser and Bowser Jr. (New Super Mario Bros.) are unable to be in THAT game: Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2. They would’ve appeared in that game as SECRET final bosses if they were going to.
Id love to had my childhood in the GBA era, anyway Im from DS era and Im gratefull but I see GBA era was really cool too
This game is wonderful.
Wonderful? This game is SUPREMELY amazing!!!
Getting this game in a few days (cartridge) to play the definitive version of Super Mario World. Just want to prepare myself for what’s coming.
In smw for SNES u can only get 99 lives and u can't switch from Mario to Luigi in singleplayer.
So i think this one is better
why would you need more than 99 lifes and how would you even get that many without farming oO
This was my very first video game I had as a kid way back in 2007. I still have the game and it still works.
Good
Yay childhood this the best 2d mario game ever
