    Hiya Folks! Short but sweet, Thrall meets Mama Draka, but no cutscene of a bear hug, tearful reunion accompanied by Draka feeding Thrall microwaved ravioli as she gently pats his head. Much sad. The later part pays tribute to Thrall’s life in WoW and Metzen’s years of dedication to voice acting (and nearly every NPC out there). Long live the Pickle! Now where doomhammer?

    Thrall: I was the slave who become a warchief, raised by the humans. I joined ranks with Doomhammer myself and freeing my enslaved people from the human prisons. I saved our race by bringing them to Kalimdor from the scourge invasion. I united races and liberate both the Taurens and the Darkspear tribe in their wars. I fought endless invasions of demons and watched one of the greatest warrior die in my arms, and had to kill one of the greatest warriors in a mak'gora myself, the son... I was a shaman, the truth is I was Green b'jesus myself leading the Earthern ring and was in fact one of the strongest shamans ever lived on Azeroth. Thrall was the heart of people who wanted a better horde. Not just an enemy of the humans but one which sensibly saw the cosmic threats as far greater then petty squabbles for battlegrounds. Unfortunately like warhammer there must always be war, because the plot demands a continuing fight. Betraying any real progress to rubble.

    • @thewatcherinthecloud
      @thewatcherinthecloud 3 ปีที่แล้ว +83

      Writers of early WoW knew what they were doing: civic conflict, underground negotiations, borders and resources contested, political kidnappings and backstabbing, fighting for lineage, and the difficulty of gathering numbers to your cause. These were all the reasons for wars.
      But the newer writers always focused on the power fantasy without thinking about the motivations for the characters. In their minds, it was always just "defending the world against evil." They forgot about other motivations for conflict, and just constantly thrust world-saving into the players' faces. It pushed out the reason why the Alliance and Horde fought; while they tried to bring their conflict back several times, it always was in the shadow of "world saving", which the player base eventually grew tired of.

    • @Cryten0
      @Cryten0 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @@thewatcherinthecloud I agree that if the series has continued to be about internal strife the War would of made more sense. But even then stretching it out over decades does not feel right.

    • @kevindemon2911
      @kevindemon2911 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Speaking honestly, the war between the Alliance and Horde nowadays are a part why WoW started to tire me, although i continues to like the Lore. Now, however, the gap between the factions has become something almost monotonous who genuinely seem forced. I like the rivalry itself, and I like how they try to show who is better than the other ... but when it comes to real wars, frankly prefer external threats, now that WoW seems to have consumed the thing of the wars between factions.

    • @thewatcherinthecloud
      @thewatcherinthecloud 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@kevindemon2911 tbh, they could have looked at the history of France vs England or England vs everyone else in that bloody isle to get a sense of what really drives war. Early battlegrounds had that sense of fighting over precious resources, and the leaders of these conflicts had a terrible dislike of the enemy faction.
      I think it was with WotLK where they had a hard time playing with that conflict. I think Garrosh was the path to go; the problem was that he didn't have an equally war-mongering rival in the alliance at that time. Cata would have been an exciting expansion if Garrosh and an alliance commander were constantly juking it out and the contested areas LITERALLY changed hands everyday. I think this is what Blizzard originally had in mind, but they just made the Alliance too much of the "good guys" to give them character flaws.

So it just sits in the bank :')

  • @idivineaegis1926
    @idivineaegis1926 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I know this kind of unrelated but after rewatching the scene where Vol’jin becomes Warchief… do you see what they’re doing to the Horde? They basically killed off the ‘old guys’ who sought to bring the Horde together and now we’ve got ‘new leaders’ (aside from slyvanas) who are trying to keep the Horde together whereas the Alliance is literally vice versa. I mean Turion is going to become radical like Sylvanas, Tyranda is basically at this point Sylvanas in her own ‘I’m gonna take care of business’ type of way. Greymane is kinda like Garrosh. He’s very much a Puritan and wants to restore Lorderon (very much like Turion wants to/will do). It’s just really crazy to see how far our beloved characters have come. Some are heroes of the past, while others are victorious leaders

If the original lore is what canonically happened to Durotan we should've seen him by now in the Shadowlands, likely beside Draka in Maldraxxus because, yes, she was also hunted by Gul'Dan's assassins and she ended up there, but we haven't and that's what I was taking into consideration.
