- ALT02x analog TMR magnetometers are useful for applications such as measuring distance from a magnet or the current through a wire.
They are ideal for analog circuitry such as amplifiers, analog indicators, or comparators. But with their large signals, they can also directly interface to many microcontrollers, which we demonstrate with an Arduino.
For higher resolution or higher speed, we can use a separate ADC. We preview a new 1 mT TMR magnetometer interfaced to a 24-bit ADC that can be clocked at up to 20 MHz. We demonstrate with an Arduino, but the circuit also works with much faster microcontrollers. The sensors are low power and have no minimum supply voltage, so they can be powered by an ADC’s 1.2 volt reference. And since the sensor is ratiometric, any variation or noise in the reference cancels.
