    I really appreciate your efforts with the imagery in your videos, it enriches the experience. The more of your lore videos I watch, the more I realize how much space for illustration there is in Pathfinder. I know that it would likely be fan work, because Paizo can't just throw money around for an encyclopedic set of images, but dang. I hope more artists will connect with the Pathfinder lore.

    • @TheMythKeeper

      The illustrations they do create are always top-notch though! I'm always trying to include as many Paizo official illustrations as I can. :-)

    Very interesting. I really like these deities, though I'm a little confused by some of them. In particular, Minderhal feels like he should be a Lawful Neutral god rather than a Lawful Evil one since his schtick is basically being stuck in the past, and the MythKeeper makes it clear that it's not only evil giants who worship him (even if the non-evil ones take his teachings with a grain of salt).
    I also like that both the images of Thremyr and Zursvaatar have horns. It not only makes them look more fierce, it makes them look like dark reflections of one another, which opens up intriguing questions and possibilities.

    • @TheMythKeeper

      What an awesome comment. I love it when I get one of these with a lot of meat on the bones. Minderhal is a really interesting deity. Something I like to keep in mind, is that the alignment system (Good, Evil, Lawful, Chaotic) is more for players than it is for people living in the 'real world' of the game setting. Which is to say, that we as players might see his alignment as being Lawful Evil on a god rulesheet breakdown, but an actual cleric would have to form their own opinions based on the specific gods dogma. That isn't spelled out anywhere in stone for people. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if there were more than a few clerics worshipping evil deities who are not in fact evil themselves. Someone might have a positive encounter with Raghadan the evil-aligned fey god for example, and wind up a cleric of Raghadan and feel ultimately betrayed when they find out how evil their god is. I know technically the rules stipulate a cleric should be within one alignment of a deity, but I think that's a place where rules and reality don't completely overlap. Even if we take that to be a universal, there's plenty of room for neutral characters to worship evil gods. Could make for some good character concepts too.

    On the face of it Norgorber seems an odd choice of god for hill giants, but in his aspect as “Father Skinsaw” Norgorber is a god of murderers and bandits, which are easily the most popular “professions” among hill giants. Still, there’s potential for a VERY memorable villain in a hill giant smart and cunning enough to lead a cult of Norgorber. Imagine getting attacked by a hit squad of masked hill giant assassins wielding divine magic and poison weapons.

    • @TheMythKeeper
      @TheMythKeeper  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You are absolutely right that Norgorber's most crazy persona is a great fit for Hill GIant worshipers - BUT you are also right that masked hill giant assassins is kind of hilarious and great at the same time.

    I thought it was a bit odd to see Haggakal wearing a "gut plate" very similar to those used by the ogres of Warhammer Fantasy. Then, I thought it very odd indeed to see that his symbol is nearly identical to the "Evil Sun" icon associated with Warhammer's Greenskins. I'm not criticizing these design choices, but it does leave me wistful about the incredibly rich yet criminally underserved setting of Warhammer Fantasy Battle.

    • @TheMythKeeper
      @TheMythKeeper  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think I put a disclaimer in the video that not all my icons nor my art are all PF canon. I realized early on I needed to just pull source material from wherever to fill the video out the way I wanted to. So Haggakal and the logo are both from WHFB, sorry if I confused you there. And WHFB + WH40k are also too deep loves of mine, and I suspect, once I've mined enough out of the PF well, I'll probably do some content on those worlds too, although frankly that's a way more crowded space.

    Wonderful video, i have to say that i might have never read the content pertaining to giantkind and their dieties so being able to gain a more condensed form through your videos has been invaluble

    I'm currently running a homebrew campaign in a region dominated by giants so these videos are inmensily helpful. It is really interesting to see the creation myth told from the perspective of stone giants, they've always been among my favorites.

    Man, I really loved this video, and I have fast found that I really appreciate the work you do with the Lore of Pathfinder. I will be a GM myself one day, and I want my guys to have fun but I have had a narrative in my mind about the many Giants of Golarion and their many Gods and Goddesses in the pantheon. The inflections towards Norse Mythology is very good of Paizo's writers.

      Giantslayer was one of my most fun APs I ever played in. Its not a game that I ran, but I was a player in it, and I just had the best time. Our GM tied in Clash of the Kingslayers as part of our game, so if you have a player hankering to play a dwarf, that's not a bad way to go.

    I always found Annam to be one of the most underappreciated Great Gods of the Classic D&D settings. Fandarra takes up much of his flair of uniting wisdom and the ways of nature (earth), although being just a Stone-Giant Goddess and not a Pan-Giant, she does not have the same level of Pretender to be the most powerful God of them all. Edit: Annam, not Ymir.

      Dragon pantheon - a whole dragon video actually - is in the works, and is probably about a month out. I have talked about the Elven Pantheon in my second lesser gods video (I know its not a great place for it, that happened kind of randomly) and the Dwarf Pantheon in my dwarf ancestry guide video, but I'll be doing more videos in this format soon. Probably focusing on Empyreal Lords and Infernal Demigods first, but specific racial pnatheons will be coming too.

    You mentioned Zursvaater being inspired by Surtr, but you you may also want to consider that vater (pronounced fater) means father in German. So one could transalte zursvaater to fire father. Though technically aa is an old fashioned way of writing å, våer which is norwegian for wetting something, but I don't think that's the intention.

      Of course! My Deep Dives are every *third* video, so the next one is coming next week. I can't do them more often than that because they are very long videos and they require a good deal of time to edit. In between those I'll be doing ancestry guides, religion guides, planar guides and creature features - more or less at random.
