    But wouldn't that mean that, by killing the dova and catching their souls to make them a part of your own self, you are reassembling parts of Akatosh? I mean, you only kill smaller dova (if you don't count Alduin (and/or Parthurnaax - you monster)) but you still make their souls become part of you.
    Aren't you then becoming a part of Akatosh? A god in human form, much more powerful than every human or dragon to ever roam the Mundus?
    And what happens after you die? Do you then become a true god, unless another dragon-born captures your soul and fuses you with his soul, making you and him/her an even more complete form of Aka?
    So. Many. Questions!!

      Midnight it is implied by dialogue in the game that 1. No matter what happens the dragonborn will live on in sovengard (i think thats how ot spelled) as this is a divine area of the after life made by Akatosh. 2. The game is of the last dragonborn, other than miraak or anyone that maybe still from tiber septims line of kin, which would be rare at best, there are no other dragonborn. At least none that will ever be alive while the last dragonborn is. So his/her soul wont ever be absorbed by any other. Now for 3, about being pieces of akatosh, and becoming more a singular powerful one as you take dragons souls.... i think you might be right. I havent expressly read or found any lore that confirms or denies this. Unfortunately i think that unkess you were able to consume the souls of all remaining dragons this portion would still be insignificant at best and completely irrelevant at worse. Alduin would be a singular larger piece of akatosh if he truly is his first born son. To make a significant dent and thus be a larger piece of Akatosh you would need, all of the past dragonborn that hail from tiber septim, tiber septim himself, miraak, all dragons, alduin, and the last dragonborn.
      That would give you some awesome divine power and will over reality but also like all of the dragon knowledge and seeing as how they are one of the oldest races in existence, you would pretty damn powerful.
      As you can see down below - someone reminded me it was shor who created Sovngard not Akatosh.

    • @midnight8341
      @midnight8341 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Miguel 1226 okay, I didn't know about sovengard... But didn't Miraaks soul became part of you when he was killed by Hermaeus Mora? I already forgot, it's been a long time since I played skyrim...
      And that means that a minimum of two dragon-borns can exist at the same time and I think you being the last one is a bit irrelevant, since there are possibly others from a time before you that could absorb you when you die...
      But that completely aside, I wonder if sovengard was created by Aka(tosh) to be a place where the pieces of him, being the dragon-borns could meet and reunite again. Some kind of safe haven? For him to heal and become again what he once was?
      Hell, that would make a fantastic fantasy novel... The god of eternity, who saw his inevitable shattering during the process of creation coming, created a place where he could once again become one and the protagonist being one of the last fragments of the god to come this part of the afterlife after his epic heros' journey...

    • @ink4852
      @ink4852 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just my two cents: There's a difference in dragonblood, and dragon soul + blood.
      Miraak and The Last Dragonborn are the only known Dragonborn with the ability to absorb dragon's souls. Alessia, Tiber Septim, Reman Cyrodil, etc did not have this ability as they only had Dragonblood.
      There are tons of people out there with Dragonblood, or some type of Dragonblood that's been diluted.
      Tsun says that you'll live on in Sovngarde regardless of your race, but I feel this is more an oversight on Bethesda's part. A lot of the in game lore is honestly.
      When The Last Dragonborn dies either a new god will be created, or he will simply return to Aka.
      Even Uriel and Martin Septim are not directly related to Tiber Septim. The Septim line had already been broken before then.
      Also Miraak (The First Dragonborn) and The Last Dragonborn come from 2 different time periods. Miraak was born in the Merethic Era and lived on in Hermaneos Mora's realm of Apocrypha. The Last Dragonborn was of course born in the fourth Era.

    On the one hand, one can draw a ton of parallels to LHKAN (as one should with a Mirror-Brother) and his many, many shards (Shezarrines, Void Ghost, unstars, moons, Heart, Shor, Shezarr, Sheor, Lorkhan, Lorkhaj, etc). And a lot of this can be explained by the Marukhati Selectives; they didn't just eject Auri-El from Akatosh, but rather they stuffed Shezarr into the hole thus created, making the two gods one and the same to an extent even beyond that implied by enantiomorphy (hence the Amulet of Kings, *the* artifact of the Dragonborn, being made from LHKAN's blood (this point btw has specifically been called out by MK)).
    On the other (props for at least giving this a mention), mythopoeia is a major thing. Every Aedroth (most especially the Nine) has many cultural aspects, and that accounts for most of what is going on with AKHAT. The rest can be explained by imitation. AKHAT was the first et'Ada to crystallize, followed by RKHET (Arkay/Xarxes/Orkey/etc), and then all the other et'Ada, for the Tone of Time is also that of I AM (just as Space (LHKAN) is I AM NOT). Just as the lesser Daedra often imitate the Tones of the Princes, the Dov can simply be considered lesser Aedra in service to their King (further implied by the existence of the Minute-Menders, the Jills).
    And of course, this being TES, both of our theories are probably true, in spite of or even because of any contradictions implied by such. But I will note that my take as expressed here is... more conventional. As in, a lot of this is straight up Altmeri or Ayleid or Alessian tradition.
    All in all, good video. Compelling even if I disagree greatly on interpretation, and I certainly learned a lot and had entirely new (if likely only to myself) insights just by considering your position.

    • @watcher314159
      @watcher314159 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Further possibilities are that the lesser Dov are an Akaviri import, and that they are transkalpaic Nords. The official forums are really big fans of the World Eating Nords theory btw.

    I have a Avatar: the last airbender question. Is it just a myth that if the avatar dies in the avatar state the avatar cycle ends? I believe it is a myth because if the avatar did die during the avatar state then it would have already ended. Conversely maybe rava (I don’t know how to spell it pleas for give me) told wang or one of the first few avatars that if they die in the avatar state that the cycle would end the cycle.

    The window pane analogy works well for the dragons being shards, and that those shards had always been there. When you break a window into shards, the shards really had been there the entire time, you just don't perceive them as shards until the window breaks.
    The dragons had been there the whole time, people just didn't realize it until the Dragon broke.

    There's also a Meta-Context here that should be pointed out.
    The Nine Divines were named after Testers and Important Developers, from back in the Arena Days. For example, Julianos is named after Julian LeFay, who created Tamriel as a DnD Setting and gave it to Bethesda during the development of Arena.
    Akatosh was named after a tester who used the screen-name "AKA The Old Smaug Himself." They couldn't use his Screenname... but they shortened it to its acronym of "AKATOSH." Which brings us to the meta-context: Aka, the original time God, is Also Known As. Which is amusing, since one of Aka's shards appears in every pantheon.

    So... the Dragonborn... collects shards of Aka, aka time itself. Does he/she essentially BECOME Aka?? Is the purpose of the Dragonborn to repair time???

    • @3353080
      @3353080 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That... would be a bad idea. The three big shards, auriel, akatosh and alduin, are pieces of time, expecific the beginning, the middle and the End of time.

      The alduin in the game is not his true form. He is the literal End of time, and will devour everyting: mundos, Oblivions, their princes, and even Aetherius. However, he wanted to control everyting, instead of end it, so he apeared close to the begning of time, when his power are weak, in the form of a dragon, and was cast away in the future, still in that weak form. That is why
      you can defeat him.

      The Elder Scrools universe is in a time loop. Alriel will creat the word in the beginning, akatosh will be the body of time, and alduin will destroy everyting, so all come to be created again. Those circles are slightly diferent, what will be important in the future circles. A dragon biting his own tail. Why those circles need to be? Because the creation is limited, finite, and everiting that is finite have beggining, middle and end. So, if by any reason, the time don`t End, it will become infinite. And creation is finite. Thats mean everyting will cease of existing. Everyting associated with mortalite. Not only that, but will cease in a way that never existed in the fist place. The Dragon will be unbinded.
      What is more probably is: that the Dragonborn soul will be absorve by one of the big shards; become his own dragon; or , my personal teory, will help in the circle by becoming the next great shard, like auriel, who is portrait as a mortal how become a god.

    "Time moves in a single line"
    Sinistral Elves and Redguards: Excuse you?!
    Also, couldn't this all mean that by absorbing the dragons' souls, the Dragonborn piece the puzzle back together, and while not being able to completely fix Aka, at least put the parts back in order? A dragonbreak would also explain why Solstheim is littered with dragon bones and ruins in ES5:Skyrim, but there's no trace at all of Miraak in ES3: Morrowind (lorewise, obviously).

  • @sirsir9665
    @sirsir9665 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Theoretically I think the Dragonborn bloodline was made partly to control and collect the souls of Dragons. At some point, probably after death Akatosh gets those souls so he can become whole again. He likely allows them to their preferred afterlife once he gets his souls. As we know the dragons can't killed permanently. The Dragonborn just kind of holds the souls. You can see this as Miraak dies he absorb his souls. They are fragments of a God they can't be kilked so easy, even Shor is still technically around..Point being Akatosh is collecting himself through the Dragonborns. If you get a Dragonborn who eats all the Dragons be could be more of Akatosh then Aka himself. Akatosh is likely a "Dragonborn" himself body of a humanoid God and soul of a Dragon. The Dragon break sounds like a Dragonborn dying and his souls leaving him. All the Dragons are different perceptions, different aspects of time. Akatosh being the physical manifestation of times begin but time changes, warps and is different to everyone and it's thus the many dragons, Alduin being times end and that event manifests its as Alduin...
    Kind of weird and long but a fun theory

    Where does the Dragonborn fit into this? Is the Dragonborn there to bring the pieces back together? That would explain why they absorb dragon souls. Every Dragonborn slays as many dragons as they can, gathering their souls. When the Dragonborn dies, they take the pieces to Akatosh, further rebuilding the Time God Aka.

      Yeah. An omniscient time God (assuming they are outside of time or undamaged by any alterations or "breaks") wouldn't just see all of time at once but all "times" at once. Perhaps as branched timelines, the same timeline stretched through all realities (similar to the world tree from Norse mythology) or some other form that meer mortals can't comprehend.
      Edit: This idea reminds me of the "sacred timeline" and the branches from the Loki series

    The "Numidium" you find in Morrowind is actually Akulakhan. It's a replica created by Dagoth-Ur. The true Numidium, if we're ignoring Michael Kirkbride's C0DA and sticking with in-game lore, was destroyed in Daggerfall.
    In C0DA, the when the Numidium was used by Tiber Septim to lay siege on Alinor, time broke once again (as Numidium is want to do) this time lasting all the way from the Dawn Era clear to the end of time itself in its own pocket of un-time. This catches up with the rest of Mundus in the late 5th Era when Numidium returns, still waging war against the Altmer, driving them to Zero-Sum because apparently, it can do that, as was most likely the fate of the Dwemer.
    Then out of nowhere, Indoril Nerevar shows up piloting Akulakhan and takes on Numidium one-on-one, buying the Dunmer enough time to escape to Masser.
    Gods, I love Kirkbride.

    If I could time travel, I would go to Asia and Greece during the Axial Age, like in Gore Vidal's "Creation". Buddha, Confucius, Darius, Xerxes, and Pericles, all living in the span of a single lifetime, if you thread the needle just right. It sucks that Jesus comes a bit later, but that's still a pretty good haul, as far as influential historical/religious/philosophical figures go. The Scientific Revolution in Europe would also be cool.

    And if he knew, he coeldn't possibly know that Hazel Was a demigod and still a teenager.
    So who was Sammy Valdez???

    Makes perfect sense to me. Your wibbley-wobbley timey-wimey explanation fits. And as for changes becoming more than permanent, that they become that way from the beginning, is rather like Doctor Who's crack in time that when it absorbs someone, from that moment forward, they never ever existed.
    As for what point in time I'd travel to, that's easy: the future, about 50,000 years into the future. Life HAS to get better by then. (At least all the Skyrim bugs have to be purged by then.)

    To say that the Lamia fought against Molag Bal is quite the generalization since only a small group did that as far as we know, most of them are hostile towards us (who are fighting Molag Bal) but we aren't given their motivations.

    I eould travel to the end of time and space, to not only witness a beauty none can even perceive, but also to die an instant painless death (as it would be faster than the neurons react), but also for the benefit of time itself being erased, essentially wiping out all other life as well. No more one person starving 60 every seconds, no more death, no more pain. Just mercy in its purest and swiftest form.
    Yes, it's harsh, but I mean it out of kindness and depressive sympathy. May you all be blessed and have a satisfying/enjoyable existence.
    Ave Inanis

    What i like about skyrim is the fact we can see who and what we are ourselfs . The dragons show our dominance in nature . The elves ,humans and orcs . Show our distaste for anything outside our safe haven . The stormcloak and imperial dispute shows our narrow point of view ( as most of us have not all ) and if the means are there and all these combined in one strong person in mind and power . This person could force his/her will unto others for any who will resist will fall . And our nature to look for the unknown by beleaving in a all unseen power a religion and or more religions . All these complex things come back in one simple stucture . Animal nature for more breeding space . To controll everything .

    Maybe the reason they and others say they have always been is because technically they have. If not in their current form, then as Aka. When part of the whole they were there, and as a piece once part of the whole they continue to be there. Alduin was the first dragon the break from Aka making Alduin and Akatosh. Then later in other breaks smaller bits of Akatosh became the dragons. And maybe in some way not even they understand they remember being part of Aka and Akatosh and themselves. So they are eternal and have always been, just not in the same form we know them as. And as part of Aka and Akatosh they retained that superiority they have over mortal, the feeling of wanting to lead them as their creator(s).
