As anyone else said, Sohyang was suffering from pneumonia, especially since she had a concert tour two days before this performance, so she didn't get enough rest. Still, isn't it amazing that she performed like this?
Sohyang is the best singer of this era. A singer whose live performance is better than the record! It's a dream, hope, and touching. (At the time, Sohyang was very sick with pneumonia)
I was a fan of Ailee many years ago, and while on youtube watching Ailee's singing, I stumbled upon Sohyang Arirang Alone. I listened to the first 30 seconds or so but I thought it was just a typical South Korean traditional song or something(my phone volume was quite low so I couldn't even listen to her perfect head voice in the beginning). I skipped the video and watched something else. Fast forward a few years later, I decided to recheck her Arirang Alone video when I saw it on my recommended list and watched till the end. Guess what? I became her HUGE fan since last year and probably have watched 90% of Sohyang reactions on youtube haha.

She had a severe case of Pneumonia during this performance. She went to a hospital and was told by a Dr. the evening of the event, not to speak. She does not like to let her fans down, so with weak lungs, and a bad throat,she STILL can sing like a healthy person. I do not know of any other singer who would have stepped on stage being that sick, but she did, and came out with another perfect performance.

So Hyang gets Pneumonia a all the time. I do not know why, but she seems to get it like we get a cold. She also has liver problems that she is constantly medicating for, and since I am not a Dr. I do not know if this makes her more susceptible to getting pneumonia more or what.
@Pamela Renee Coulter-Pinal Her lungs and her breath control are waaay above anyone elses. If you heard her at the end, when she said in Korean., Thank You, you could hear the raspiness of her voice. She cut back on her higher notes because she did not have the lungs to push them out. I have been listening to her for many years, and can tell when she either strains to reach what should be a super easy note for her, or when she just pay back and does not attempt that note at all, and hits a lower one and nobody else is the wiser. I just had pneumonia about 4 months ago, and had plenty of air for me, but felt like shit and could not sleep due to coughing my head off. The pneumonia was confirmed by an x-ray, mine was anyway. If you cannot hear the wheeze or know of her struggling, then you are not a person that should be speaking on her behalf.
Andy....Sohyang is the ONLY gospel singer that moved me, an Islamic believer, because of her Bridge over troubled water, which happens to be one of my all time favs. That's how good she really is.

I'm sure you probably know by now that she is a very dedicated Christian. I seen her in interviews where she talked about when she met Jesus. What some people would say accepted Jesus. Her first love is singing Christian music. So all the music that she chooses, she uses those songs to try and relate the love of God.
