It's always interesting how TH-cam is more helpful than anyone else. My teacher likes to make things complicated and near impossible to get a 75 or above. Now I am sure I will get and 80 just because I watched this video, thanks!

You already have your equation solved for y. You want to set the equation equal to 0 and solve for x which would be your x intercept, if so replace y with 0. As far as graphing, you are already in slope intercept form so your slope is 1/4 or up 1 and over 4 and your y-intercept is -1. Thank you very much for watching and subscribing. I've been struggling with slope intercept form and graphing it for years ! I'm a high school senior and I'm an honors student. Everything in math has always pretty simple for me; expect for slope intercept. I had an epiphany while watching this video . 😂 So thank you for making this video !

I'm a college student who hasn't taken a math class in over a decade. I was never good at math to begin with, and when I realized I had to take college algebra and trig, precalc, and calculus, I PANICKED. My textbook for A&T is a nightmare--it's so overly complicated that I have to re-read it over and over to make sense of it. (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) = m or slope. This formula calculates the change in y over the change in x between two points...otherwise known as rise over run. Since lines are straight this slope is constant. You will get the same answer for slope regardless of which two points you use for a line (linear function). Thank you for watching and your support:)

I was graphing all of the lines in my class backwards (I was making mirror images of everything) and I watched this video and now I can graph correctly (I guess because I'm a visual person) and I showed this to my teacher. So thank you for doing this.

In my english class a girl needed help with math (this exact topic of y=mx+b) and this was one of my favorite things to learn so i had no problem learning it in class! So i tutored her and not only explained how to do it but also why we use this. Norman Alston It sounds like you sure do have your hands full! I don't get time to watch other teachers in their classroom because I am always teaching in my classroom. However, as I have been refreshing my Calculus skills I have been getting on TH-cam or review to lesson DVD's that are available with some textbooks now to fill in the gaps that I miss from the textbooks. There are always new techniques or tips that you can pick up and use or adjust for your own classroom and lessons. You never stop learning and that is awesome! I am going to check out your blog. This video is honestly so helpful. My Algebra 1 teacher last year taught horribly so I never learned slope. Now I'm in Geometry and using it again and this video solved all of my problems, thank you so much!
