My grandfather had 1800 loadstars with im guessing had 6v53 in them . Ill never forget the scream they produced ! Was a beautiful sound ! All loggers in taranaki
As a kid I remember Burnett's transport in Ashburton used to have a Bedford super spreader with a Detroit... You could hear it coming miles away.. beautiful sound!
I worked on this truck when Alf Quaff bought it off Mike Lambert. Held logging records over the Kaimai ranges. Second was a Pacific running a 450hp Cummins. Everyone else was running the 855 at 350 hp.
Heavens sake, he's on the wrong side of the road. Perhaps it's his eyes, for sure he's deaf after listening to the screaming Jimmy. Seriously, Canuck here never seen one in a 900 series highway KW. Many here used in offroad logging units, Pacific, Hayes and KW. Worked around them. Would love to drive that old beast.
I'm quite sure Concorde is still running around. George sold it to Barry Caulfield last I heard, but it is such a significant truck and she is such a good runner that somebody in the very strong North Island veteran trucking community will have it in their collection.
Nothing makes me love that diesel more than the magnificent sound
Two stroke ain't no joke.🎉
That V12 GM sounds great.
25 years on and those roads are still unchanged despite a tripling in traffic. Amazing truck!
I used to drive a 8v71 in a COE Freightliner Loved the sound that engine too
Turning Diesel into music, so good that the truck is in safe&professional hands!!

Such a cool piece of classic iron! Love it!
A Sweet Sweet noise you got there 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nothing quite like the sound of a Detroit diesel engine!
Great scenery.
Drove a W924AR with a Cummins KTA450 For a few years, loved that beast.
Pity no shots of the engine, I wonder if it has Jake brakes, they also sounded amazing on Detroits.
2:40 his on the Jake's coming onto that bridge, it's a long shot though.
I love detroits best video on here!
